CO overruling elders on appointments

if a brother wants to reach out to be elder, yet brothers are holding him back for dubious reasons, can/should a brother approach the co and ask him what he needs to be done to be appointed or perhaps having a discussion along the lines of why the elders are holding him unfairly back.

anybody have any experiences along these lines?

is this a good strategy?

There was another case I just remembered where the elders recommended a brother to become an elder and the CO did not agree stating that the brother needed more experience. The elders did not budge and the CO had to send their recomendation. However, in that report he stated to the branch the reasons why he didn't agree.

To the suprise of the body of elders, that brother was appointed as en elder even though the CO was not in agreement!!

These are rare cases though. As ATJ stated...at the end of the day appointments and privileges comes down to how good you are at politics.

CO's are trained to work and guide the Body of elders to follow WT policy. They cannot impose recommendations as this is an area at the discretion of the body. Besides if a body sticks to their guns and are not in agreement to recommend a brother, the CO cannot do absolutely anything unless the reason given is clearly bogus and the CO has guts to stand up for someone. Rarely though will CO's make a stink about a brother not being recommended.

We had 2 capable MS's in our Hall that have been serving for many years and not once did the CO ever ask the body why they weren't recommended. If a brother complains to the CO, he might ask the body about that brother but will not fight for him.

I have however seen 3 cases where the Society or branch gets involved and sends a letter to the body as to why a certain MS after serving many years is not appointed elder but this happened because an elder wrote to the branch accusing the body of negligence & holding back brothers.

Another case was for an MTS graduate that had served in Bethel, had 11 yrs full time service and 8 yrs as a MS. The branch wrote the body telling them to recommend him in the next visit. These cases are extremely rare though. The norm is for the body of elders to recommend a brother whenever they feel like it and no one tells them otherwise even if it's MANY years.

a friend of mine recently had his co visit and in the elders meeting the co out-right asked the question: how are the friends doing in your cong.

as regards pursuing higher education?

the co continued...you know in view of all the counsel from the slave regarding the dangers.

It is absolutely none of their business if a member wants to get a higher education.

This shows how they have become lords over the rank & file.

Albert Schroeder's son Judah went to University (NYU) to study law. He's currently serving as an elder!

10 years ago i stopped attending jehovah's witness meetings for good.

walked out of the kingdom hall cold turkey never to return based on injustices i observed among others and myself at the hands of elders giving out not god's counsel but personal opinions as counsel .

some of them weren't even giving out wt society counsel- just personal opinions.

Following wt approved works is how they consider you a spiritual person.....So true!

If a JW were to organize or partake in community service or charities he would be viewed with suspicion and counseled. A C.O. publicly criticized a sister for adopting 3 orphan siblings. He said her time and money would be better served to pioneer instead of adopting these innocent children. The WT could care less about improving the community, partaking in charities, community work, building hospitals, orphanages, soup kitchens, homeless shelters or any other work that does not recruit members to follow the GB.

The result is that they produce cold, heartless, mechanical robots programmed to recruit more cult members to their loving corporation.

My brother died yesterday

"albert" was 55 years old, and the fifth-born of seven children.

i am the second oldest and babysat him often while he was growing up --- and while i was still at home.. yesterday, albert was out taking his usual morning stroll around his small town, when he collapsed on the sidewalk.

the doctors said it was a heart attack.

Humility? Screw Humility.......

.....said the exiting jw.. this jw saw it all, the games, the politics.

oh, and how this quality of "humility" was used as an anvil to keep, not just your actions in line, but your thoughts and feelings as well.. the leadership of jw's is an extremely talented bunch.

they know exactly how to reframe concepts to their own ends.. so, once you have your awakening, and you leave, and you remember how often you were symbolically on your knees all the time, you say "never again!".

Very True. Humility according to WT is just listen and obey without questioning the WT authority. Just shut your mouth and do what we say regardless if it's the right thing to do. As an elder I got tired of always speaking up against elder abuse and harassment of the sheep. I never covered up or went along with their nepotism and cover ups of drunkenness, adultery and elder's non payent of debts yet for that I was labelled as proud and not working in unity and being belligerent and unreasonable. I was removed as elder and that really made me realize that the Holy SPirit has absolutely NOTHING to do with these people. It all comes down to politics and going along with the boys club. It was really disappointing and disheartening to say the least. The half truths and outright lies that the C.O. and D.O. believed to get e deleted.

The GB produces the most arrogant pricks on earth. We are taught that any activity done outside of promoting JW fantasy is in vain and a coplete waste of time. We are told we are better than worldy people, better than other religions, and if anyone seems to do something good (Red Cross) we are told that the benefits are only temporary.

Only if you serve as a pioneer, elder, bethelite etc. will you be give attention by the C.O. and even then the conversation will usually be about doing more. Many strive for these titles to feel superior and accepted as they have nothing else to offer in their lives.

I have found great peace of mind once I acepted the fact that JW's do not have the absolute truth or any truth for that matter. I don't argue doctrine with no one anyore and actually listen and try to learn from others with different beliefs and ideas. I find myself actually caring about people now regardless of what they believe. It's liberating (although sad at first) when you realize that you don't have all the answers to lifes questions or that you need to defend the GB intrepretations as they will only change according to the whims of the 8 popes in NY.

Any person that is truly faithful to principle and justice will eventually be sadly disillusioned by the poilitics of the WT. At least Im in my early 40's and didn't waste a full life in the fantasy world. For now I just go along with the JW life in order not to hurt my marriage and family

Elders oath

When a recommendation is accepted by the WT, the Cobe assigns 2 elders to ask the brother 2 questions namely:

Question # 1: Is there anything in your personal life that can disqualify or prevent you from accepting this privilege?

Question #2: Is there any reason why your appointment should not be announced to the congregaion?

There is a third question for any brother that has never served before and that is to protect them from future lawsuits.......

Question #3: Have you ever sexually abused a minor in your life?

The last question is to be asked only if they have never served before and it's the first time getting appointed. The 3rd question was added some 4-5 yrs ago.

That's the closest the WT gets to doing a background check on their leaders

8. You cannot save your life by accepting blood or you will be destroyed (fractions O.K. since 2000 though but you cannot donate blood even though fractions are taken from donated blood to save JW's lives) or you will be destroyed.

9. You must donate your time to build branches and kingdom halls and donate money or we will guilt the hell out of you.

10. if you ever feel that the GB has too much control over your life you are being rebellious like Korah and will be destroyed.

11. No holidays, allowing your kids to join extra curricular activities, or you will be destroyed.

12. No organ transplants, no alternative military service even though its cleaning toilets, no vaccines, no getting married or having kids (see children book).....wait! God has changed his mind on those matters and no longer prohibited....but if you dare complain about those that have died or suffered because of those past policies...you will be destroyed.

What a loving provision the Watchtower Organization is don't you agree? Why would anyone even think of leaving the WT?

Is Russell currently considered part of the FDS?

Now when anyone brings up C.T. Russel's Miracle Wheat, separation from wife, false prophecies, pyramidology, phrenology, shady business dealings etc, they can just say he was never chosen to be part of the faithful & discreet slave.

However, they still have to explain J.F. Rutherford's abusive, tyranical, drunk behavior as he is (according to WT) a member of the "faithful slave class".

How would God choose an a man like J.F. Rutherford to represent him on earth with those evil hypocritical traits. Not even his own immediate family (wife & son Malcolm) went to his funeral.

Bethel public relations rep J.R. Brown tells Connie Chung GB are not directed by God nor are JW's better than others

connie chung was interviewing j.r. brown wt public relations head regarding the pedophile manuel cano (50 yr old bethel elder) in 2006.. during the interview she asks j.r. brown if the wt considers themselves spirit directed or inspired.

she also asks him if the jw's believe if they're the only true religion or channel to god.. the answer given by the public relations head will turn your head.

what amazing liars they all are.

Whether it's Connie Chung or not, the point is that the public relations representative of the Watchtower was caught denying that the Governing Body was special and directed by God.

He also stated that the JW's are not better or superior than others. Ever since C.T. Russel, the WT has claimed that no one can understand the Bible or be loved by God unless they accept the WT's teaching's and submit to their authority. This rtaped interview shows how the Watchtower is willing to lie and use deceitulness when convenient.
