i am new here and this is my first post although i have lurked here for a couple years.
i started having doubts about the org back then and my curiosity overcame my fear of so-called apostate websites so here i am.
i just resigned being an elder 2 weeks ago.
Congratulations Subytrek, and welcome to the board.
I admire men in positions of responsibility who, based on a good conscience, decide they can no longer serve in that capacity. It's easy to stay put and go with the flow!
Your wife's openness to examining 'the truth about the truth' along with you is a remarkable thing.
All the best to both of you.
...even though it has a massive button on the home page saying "make a donation.".

cedars.
Watchtower says,
"This facility has been provided solely for the convenience of those who asked for this service and desire to support our work by these means."
Yes, I'm sure that Jehovan's Witnesses were lined up, asking for a convenient way to give their money to the WTS.
Oops! Wannabefree you beat me to that remark!

i found it a very interesting read.
the article was linked on one of my fav websites digg.
That was a very good telling of this missionary's awakening.
I felt this remark spoke volumes about the very restrictive and closed nature of Watchtower.
In one of the most restrictive, totalitarian countries in the world, for the first time in my life, I had the freedom to think.
It's a shame that "freedom to think" doesn't exist in the Organization.
lately, i've been reading a number of thread lately that deal with this topic.
one particularly poignant experience came from simon.
in simon's story he shares: .
I would normally talk to a DF'd person, but I remember shunning 1. It was an in-law that I didn't know very well, but that shouldn't have made a difference.
I regret it to this day.
so i have been a lurker on this forum since its inception.
i registered over a year ago.
i jumped in several months back with a highly controversial subject of my daughter being sexually abused by an elder and the efforts we were taking to bring him to justice.
That was an outstnding introduction, a pleasure to read.
Congratulations on your successful efforts at getting Michael Norris arrested.
hi guys.
i have uploaded the following trailer for a forthcoming series of interview videos.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8ebwpjm6wa.
the interview, which was filmed on 10th february 2013, was based on questions provided by posters from this forum, specifically from this thread.... .
Can't wait to see these videos!
i have just finished an article misquotes, deception and lies and would like your comments, proof reading, and any other examples that you think are important to add.
most of these already appear on jwfacts.com within specific articles, but it is more powerful seeing them included together.
there have also been a number of requests over the years for such a collection.
Ray Publisher - Great find. I'll add the Readers Digest images as well, but will need to look into it for more information. I love how they copied it, but erased one person so it would not seem like it was stolen.
Jwfacts, these links may be helpful. They both appear to cover basically the same information, including letters to and from Watchtower regarding the plagiairized photo.
why are jehovah's witnesses as a whole not permitted to read the elder's manual?.
on the first day of the unfermented cakes, well before his arrest and sacrificial death, jesus christ instructed his disciples on how to prepare for the passover.
when he did so, he did not provide advance, detailed instructions for all of his disciples; instead, he dispatched only two of them to find a suitable location, which he evidently had already planned with the householder.
Taken in.
I thought it was absolutely read until I read the follow up posts.
That was incredibly good.
former jw timothy kline wrote an excellent article in 2002 that examines from a scriptural perspective the watchtower society's "two witnesses" requirement applicable to child abuse allegations (called "part 1" but there appears to be no further parts).
the article shows there are certainly alternative interpretations available to the watchtower society that would allow them to easily adjust this flawed aspect of their policy while still adhering to scriptural principles.
16 but if he does not listen, take along with you one or two more, in order that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every matter may be established.
I just now saw this and haven't read the article yet, but...
I've always felt that Watchtower's insistence on using the 2-witness rule in child abuse cases was a complete misapplication of scripture, and that the real reason it is being used is to keep the problem of child molesting quiet in order to protect the Organization's public image. After all the judgemental finger-pointing that Watchtower has done to other religious groups it wouldn't do to let it be known JWs are no different.
I am going to savor this article!
Thanks for the post.
