... Watchtower actually asked for an official lawsuit because that is what is required for their insurance to pay out.
Are you sure that Watchtower isn't self insured in these matters? I'm not sure, just asking.
i was recently talking with a zealous 'sister' who for years was assigned to use a certain chemical while taking care of wt property, only to have it irreparably damage her immune system partly because she wasn't trained properly.
she said there was a potential lawsuit but she didn't want to bring reproach on jehovah's organization.
has anybody else heard of similar situations, of people being hurt or injured in service to the org, maybe even because of them, and taking the loss so the org wouldn't look bad?.

about birthdays.
several days ago i was waiting at the deli for the next batch of fried chicken when a man in his sixties came in.
he had called in his order two days earlier.
And that's exactly why birthdays and all other common occasions that bring families together are forbidden. New recruits stop being with their families. This creates a rift and resentment in the family.
Bingo!
JWs often claim the main reason they are not a cult is because they are not isolated from others by living in a commune. They may not live in a commune but they are as isolated as anybody on earth via no birthdays, no mother's day, no father's day, no Thanksgiving, etc. These are the very things that bring most families together.
did the wt reprint bound vol.?
if so how long after the first printing did they reprint?
also how do you tell an original from reprint?
Oops, double post.

The Watchtower and Awake magazine volumes were reprinted in the early 1980s as Vienne has mentioned.
The Watchtowers were reprinted back to 1950 (I believe), but the Awakes only went back to 1970. At the time I wondered Why the difference? since they had long been considered 'companion' magazines.
Apparently this was the Organization's way of hiding the 1975 information because most of it was published in the Awake magazines of the late 1960s.
Information such as in this thread would now be hard for JWs to find.
for helping with relief work.
maybe am the iii was sending the scotch to hurricane ravaged lands to help comfort them?.

Personally, I feel it is an indirect way to tell adults/parents they should be donating, trying to shame them into doing it.
I agree and was thinking the same thing earlier today. They are getting at the parents through the kids.
Perhaps they are also trying to build for the future since little kids' money means nothing now, but when they are adults with jobs they will be trained to give - that is however many of today's kids are left in the organization in 20 or 30 years, probably not that many, but there will be some.
after reading a few comments here, i thought it was time for me to get a copy of "the silver sword" for my own occasional research and occult practices.
so i thought i would see if jw.org would offer a way that i could purchase a printed copy (not digital) of the new world translation.
as i browsed, it occurred to me that i might also like to have a copy of the... what was it?
Nathan, those ebay prices you are seeing are a bit high. This week I received a Large Print rNWT that cost $13.00 with shipping included and in perfect condition - it was an ebay purchase. But I looked daily for a while since most are in the $25 to 30 range. For me it was worth the wait.
It was my second purchase of that Bible, the first one costing $14 with shipping included, about a year ago.
I also bought a regular edition rNWT (not Large Print) from an Amazon seller. They are usually much less, but I paid $10 for it - with shipping and tax it was $15 (I just looked that up). I guess I did pretty well with the Large Prints on ebay.
I have no experience looking for Byington's The Bible In Living English.
16. We own the largest printing press in the world...
It doesn't get used much these days. Not like in the 'old days' ... just 10 or 15 yrs ago and for decades prior to that.
this is quite incredible.during his talk, the branch overseer, made a special talk dedicated to the apostates.. he clearly emphasis his point, "apostates used to be between us, really you can talk with apostates, those people are good, of course their point of vue is different than ours now but they are mostly very nice poeple, and you shouldn't be afraid to talk with them.
"though as usual, the reaction of the brothers was quite the same, impassive, i was very surprise by this statement.i cannot assume if this is just a one man step ahead towards the apostates, or really a change in their policies, this came from the mouth of a branch overseer.of course, for obvious reason, i won't give the name of the brother, which is famous, but only here in an central european country.i would have expected him to quote more scriptures, but he didn't, he could have use the one for jesus himself :"you should love your enemies", as apostates were really the "enemies" for the wtbs for such a long time, maybe now that the king of the north is awaken, apostates are not so bad after all ?
just wondering....
Of course, for obvious reason, I won't give the name of the brother...
I've missed a step here. What is the obvious reason you won't give his name? If he gave the talk in public why can't he be named in a public forum for discussion, either pro or con?
here is a post i found.
boy the wife has balls of steel !
you decide.. {they stopped by yesterday to invite my wife to the memorial.. my wife is fully awake thanks to one of my daughters!
I liked the point about how Jehovah could easily have foreseen Satan's rebellion and just eliminated him to spare billions from suffering later.
It was the perfect answer to the made up response of the elders that Jehovah was being 'loving' by killing his own people because they probably were going to be bad in the future. (What the elders said was ridiculous on so many levels.)
john roe 1 vs. defendant doe 1, congregation is a child sexual abuse case pending before the superior court of california, orange county (judge john c. gastelum).
jury trial is scheduled on june 15, 2020, but it may not occur: the judge is expected to decide on multiple pre-trial motions including motion for sanctions filed by plantiffs; next hearing on pre-trial motions is scheduled on may 14.. case docket is available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dbqcronnkeax492pshgwpuoubt-xaabz/view?usp=sharing .
case documents are available for purchase here: https://ocapps.occourts.org/civilwebshoppingns/search.do (case number 30-2014-00741722-cu-po-cjc).. during the course of this litigation the court ordered watchtower to produce molestation complaints it received, redacting only names of victims and elders handling the matters.
... allegations that expose Plaintiffs to extreme harassment, humiliation, ridicule, social stigmatization, and physical and emotional distress, and that infringe upon their religious freedoms.
Imagine that, Jehovah's Witnesses are arguing against something that they and the Watchtower organization practice every day when a fellow believer awakens and disagrees with them (with the possible exception of harassment).
