Hypocritical statement in the July 15th Watchtower denouncing those who "forsake" family members on religious grounds

i've had a quick glance through the july 15th watchtower, and at first reading there seems nothing too dramatic to report.. the title of the first article "let jehovah guide you to true freedom" seemed ironic to say the least.

not surprisingly, the way you get more freedom is by relinquishing it entirely to the watch tower society.

there is also a bizarre statement in the very first paragraph of the article on page 7 (bold highlighted remarks are mine):.

However, many today have had to endure extreme rejection by their family.

This is very similar to a remark made a few years ago.

(Awake 7-2009 p29)
“No one should be forced to worship in a way that he finds unacceptable or be made to choose between his beliefs and his family.”

While Watchtower makes remarks suggesting that it does not support rejecting family members, or cause family members to choose between religion and family relationships, the truth is it's a strong proponent both.

A while back there was a discussion here regarding transfusion of whole blood; it seems that it's rare for whole blood to be transfused in hospitals, if it's done at all.

So I'm curious to know, is whole blood supplied to and used by hospitals, or do they only get blood that is separated into either it's primary components or fractions.

Watchtower asks Congregation money for publications

does anyone remember the case where some congregation didn't get enough money to cover the costs of the magazines?.

wtbts sent a letter to the congregation asking for money.

does anyone remeber this case?

according to this program, which i am watching right now, the 7th-day adventists number only around a million in the u.s.a., yet they have built multiple hospitals, clinics, and health programs with a holistic leaning.... from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/seventh-day_adventist_church.

since the 1860s when the church began, wholeness and health have been an emphasis of the adventist church.

@ Garbonzo,

Breakfast of Champion's reference to page 17 of the January 2013 public edition of the Watchtower was a joke. In 2013 that magazine, as well as the Awake, will be cut down to 16 pages. Therefore page 17 will not exist, so no information.

The annointed remnant figure rising - a question

having been out of the loop for a while on here, it dawned on me that the figure of memorial partakers has risen substantially from when i was a jw.. i think i bowed out at around 8500 in 2006.. can anyone briefly explain what the main reasons for this increase are and if it is ever discussed among jw's because if i remember correctly, the figure should be going down, not up.. thanks.. j.

Here is the Watchtower quote that the declining number of anointed was proof of being in the last days.

(W 1-15-2000 p13) Subheading “Six convincing lines of evidence [that we are in the last days]”
18 "Sixth, the number of genuine anointed disciples of Christ is dwindling, though some will evidently still be on earth when the great tribulation begins. Most of the remnant are quite elderly, and over the years the number of those who are truly anointed has been getting smaller.”

At that time (year 2000) the number of anointed (partakers of the emblems) had been declining. Now the number is increasing quickly, as shown by the Society's own count.

and it has been quite a long time since i've really spent any serious time studying up on jw news and doctrines although i do still read here occasionally.

but after today looks like i've got some work to do.. my first sergeant called me this morning asking for my help to fix his dad's truck as i'm an auto technician in my civilian job.
