Just dropped the laptop, speakers not working.....can you help?
by Pams girl ini dropped the laptop a few weeks ago, and when i went to play some music from my favourites list, it was slow and distorted.
i just dropped it again (it was balanced on the arm of the chair) and have noticed that everything requiring sound, all videos, youtube, everything, isnt playing properly...i can hear the sound, but its like its underwater, disjointed, it stops, freezes, starts slowly........oh dear im in soooooo much trouble with hubby.. question.......is my laptop buggered completely, or is this type of problem fixable?
(not separate speakers, they are inside laptop if you get me) sounds all "chewed up" kinda noise.

No. It all got jettisoned when I moved out of my parents' house. Kept my service bag as it was a decent bag but had to throw it out a year later as it got damp and mouldy when my house had some water damage. I recently found some convention badges & notes in a box, they will soon be shredded. We have a Bible Stories book on the shelf which was a "gift" for my kids but I think that will have to be destroyed before they see it and have nightmares.

They Stole another piece of my childhood... now im SURE i'm not getting a panda ;-(
by elderelite inwell, stole retroactively.
a friend pointed out a glaring omission in the book of bible stories.. well frankly a bold faced lie of omission!.
its a tragedy but fact that most of us raised as dubbie kids learn the bible from the "my book of bible story's"... story 15 is about lot and his family leaving sodom.

EE, Very interesting that you should pick up on that.
Have you done much delving into the histories of Bab edh-Dhra and Numeira? Archaeologists and geologists believe that these Bronze Age cities were what the Bible documents as Sodom and Gomorrah, and that due to a burn layer in the rock layer at Numeira (Gomorrah) plus the identification of a fault line running next to both cities along the Jordan Rift Valley, it's most likely that an earthquake occured which caused flammable gases and bitumen to be released from the earth triggering the devastation of both places. There's an interesting paper based on some geological studies which can be found here: http://www.jstor.org/pss/1357077.
BTW, I've made do with the red panda at the zoo. He's pretty cool and someone else is paid to pick up his poop. Result!

Facebook have a fantastic tool for this. It's called 'Ads': http://www.facebook.com/business/#!/business/ads/
Pay them a small fee and you can target who sees your page advertised on what they already like or have listed in their info.

Seven Habits of Highly Incompetent People
by man in black inthis article was sent to me.
i could not help but think about the witnesses while reading it.. .
number 1 they think, say, & do negative things.. yup.

Thanks for this. I find number 3 especially true in my case. My JW parents will happily talk on the phone for over 30 minutes but I find it very difficult getting them to listen and retain much of what I tell them during our conversations.

SEX! and the DC Sunday Drama
by Red Piller inthe sunday drama at the dc was a parallel ancient (joseph in egypt) and modern (jw kid in high school) drama.
or was it extremely eroticized?
i've been seeing these my whole life and have never felt this way.. conversation between joseph and fellow prison inmate:.

I haven't been to a DC in 12 years, but there's been a few threads on here about the drama this year.
It's interesting that you feel it was erotisised. My 17 year old, blonde-haired, curvy, petite female JW cousin was picked to be in it (not sure as which character). Now that seems a bit disturbing....

Something has really annoyed me and I need to get it off my chest
by mummatron inmy children's paternal grandmother (g) and great grandmother's (gg) racist attitudes.
i'm sorry but i really need to vent about this.... g was saying how she'd taken my son to the beach yesterday.
she parked away from the seafront so had to walk through the fairground to get to the beach.

Your children will listen to your voice first.
I do hope so NC. It's a worry as my son has 3 friends of varying mixed-races that he plays with on occasion and the last thing I want is for him to start treating them negatively or differently because Nanny does. Although I am amazed that for once she said 'black' and not 'coloured'. It's taken me 4 and a half years of telling her that it's a politically incorrect term and that it can cause offence. She's the boss where she works and deals with Equality/Anti-Discrimination Policy - you'd think she'd know better!

My children's paternal grandmother (G) and great grandmother's (Gg) racist attitudes. That's what. I'm sorry but I really need to vent about this...
G was saying how she'd taken my son to the beach yesterday. She parked away from the seafront so had to walk through the fairground to get to the beach. The fairground was full of a couple of coach-loads of day-trippers. They were from Birmingham and they were black. G was saying how she felt really uncomfortablewalking through there and how she walked my son around the bay to the quieter beach to get away. Gg then piped up about how "they really should put a stop to them coming into our country. There's enough here now. There aren't enough jobs for all our young people". I think G saw the look of horror on my face as she then quickly changed the subject before I could get my 2p in about it. But OMG, I am still reeling from it.
It is 2011, not 1811 FFS! I'm sure had the day-trippers been a coach-load of white Brummies [affectionate nickname for people from Birmingham] then she would not have said or done that. It makes me SICK! I am not happy that they are communicating those attitudes in front of me, but especially pissed that they did in front of my children. I want to bring them up to think and know that everyone is equal.
People are people. Everyone has feelings. I know I tease people sometimes but it's done all in good humour, never intended to hurt and certainly not a personal attack based on race/gender/intelligence etc. How hurt would those guys have been if they could've read her thoughts? I've been on the receiving end of racist, contemptuous attitudes on more than one occasion - when I went to France was the worst. It is horrible that people can entertain the fact that purely down to where you or your ancestors may have lived and what you look like could make you despicable in their eyes. Gaarrrrrrrgggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
