i was wondering if anybody might know of a good place to have a birthday party for a 6 year old?
i reserved a shelter at a nature park with a playground but the ten day forecast is calling for scattered thunderstorms in the area.
i was thinking of trying a restaurant as a backup, maybe mcdonald's.
Is 'softplay' an exclusively British term I was unaware of? Didn't realise...
They're those indoor playgrounds that are usually set up in a warehouse-sized building with ball-pits, slides and padded & netted climbing structures that are several storeys high. The kind of place you can just let 'em run around and be free.

For my kids' birthdays we tend to to organise meet-ups at a soft-play centre with some of our friends and their kids, then after a couple of hours play we head back home for tea & birthday cake. It's a lot cheaper than hiring a party room at a softplay centre and the food is better!
well, here's some of my story.
(am leaving out a lot of personal details.).
but i was prompted to look outside the wt because i'd been having doubts and questions for a long time.
Hello & welcome.
My Book of Bible Stories is horrific isn't it?! Being able to look at it objectively now as an adult, the graphic illustrations of certain stories (the flood in particular) would never be used in any other "Worldly" children's books or films. I was given a copy for my children and have just sent it to be shredded in an industrial shredder. It gave me too many nightmares as a small child and there's no way I'd put my children through that. Good on you for noticing and not wanting your grandkids to see it!
nasa just announced the discovery of a new planet!
it's called kepler 22b!!!.
and here's the kicker..... .
Kepler 22b was discovered some time ago. It is only recently that it was discovered that it might be capable of supporting human life. But nobody's 100% certain on that! http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/tomchiversscience/100121950/kepler-22b-probably-not-home-to-interesting-aliens/
I almost posted this onto PunkofNice's thread about making stuff up... I don't know how many times I have heard JWs "theorise" about the universe and possible existence of inhabitable planets, but many seem to be of the opinion that,
"We don't know exactly what Jehovah has in store for us long-term in the New System. We do know he wants us to be fruitful and fill the earth, maybe these planets serve a purpose for when that has been acheived."
They have their heads in the sand and an answer for everything!

panic is bubbling up through my body.
It made me shudder to read this again. I remember Eunice Spry from the District Conventions in Cardiff in the 90's. I volunteered on cloakrooms and contribution boxes with my grandmother and this gave us ample opportunity for people watching and chatting. Hers is a face I have never forgotten. I had a few acquaintances and a very close friend in the same congregation. Makes me wonder if any of them ever suspected or saw clues as to what was going on. I'm so glad Alloma is now free, safe & happy.
He's so cute. The combination of the 2 breeds makes him look a bit like a corgi I think.

I can't even bring myself to read that. I have a 3 year old son. The title of the article says it all - it's too upsetting.
we are adopting our fur baby tomorrow .
he is a jrt crossed with a chihuahua, age is approximately around 7 and he is gorgeous!.
he was rescued from a dog pound as he was due to be put to sleep, an angel saw him and took him home... he had been found tied to tree, left to die and had lost all of his fur... his fur is back now, just a patch missing off his tail... he had to have 13 teeth removed as they were rotten and causing him a lot of pain.
Awww cool!
I had a JRT last year for a 24hr trial as I was looking to adopt a doggy all of my own as our dog is Daddatron's fur baby. First off, I couldn't spend any time with him as I ended up going to hospital in an ambulance (I was pregnant and had a kidney infection). My son was only 2 at the time but was so patient with him, sat on the floor trying to feed him dog biscuits as he was so hyper he refused to eat. We couldn't adopt him as he just didn't get on with our terrier cross and kept bullying him, but we did find him a new home with the mother of a friend who just happened to be an experienced JRT owner/breeder with masses of land & kennels and now he is settled and happy.

i am just wondering if we can make a list of famous people that used to be jws, i.e.
Dave Mustaine of Megadeath (and Metallica) fame. He spills all on his JW upbringing in his autobiography.
Also, not one many people will know about but around the time that Hank Marvin got baptised, Cliff Richard was studying but never took the plunge. I was told he attended a convention one year by a JW relative who was there. I'm not sure how accurate that is, maybe someone like wobble can corroborate..?
