in the last 4 months my eyes have been opened to ttatt, my biggest issue is that the elders have been grooming me to appoint me as an elder.

But if you were an elder, then you could DF your wife. Then, she is out of the org.
Am I the only one thinking creatively here?

Hmm. It seems the population hypothesis might need some work. There is still an ageing factor that isn't being captured, but you would still expect that to be a more gradual effect. These graphs suggest that, one afternoon in 1997, they just gave up.
WTF? That's just weird.

Subvert from inside! Take the Elder gig and begin slipping in little quips. When questioned, claim total devotion to the Slave, whoever that happens to be at the time.
Nobody subverts any more. Back in the day, we had lots of subversion...

Japan is shrinking in population -- or preparing to do so. It was a big story a few months back when it was reported that Japan buys more adult diapers than it buys baby diapers. I think you are seeing a population thing.

Just Shows What Religion Can Do
by Joe Grundy ina child rape victim is sentenced to 100 lashes.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-21595814.
i don't know about you, i'm an atheist, but i cannot accept that any religion can justify this inhumane, brutal, wicked treatment of a child victim of rape.. there is no excuse for this behaviour on the part of a supposedly civilsed government.
it has fuck all to do with religion, it has all to do with humanity and being a 'human being'.. i have written to my mp and hope to follow this up through the un charter on childrens' rights.. anyone here booked a 'maldives luxury holiday'?.

You should read about the Aztec. Talk about justification...

It amuses me to see that you think this is a defense of your ignorant application of American political categories to an institution that predates American political categories by a couple thousand years. But have at it, designs.

How provincial to interpret the election of the Pope in American political language. You disappoint me, designs. Ah, well, I guess there is truth to the stereotype, after all.

Markan priority and the synoptic gospels
by 88JM inthis might be a question for leolaia, but i noticed in researching the gospel of mark this week that the dates the wtbts gives for the writing of the other synoptic gospels does not seem to agree with most new testament scholars.. the all scripture book gives the following dates:.
matthew: writing completed: c. 41 c.e.mark: writing completed: c. 6065 c.e.luke: writing completed: c. 5658 c.e.this would put mark as the last of the three synoptic gospels to be written, and therefore the wtbts does not adhere to the markan priority hypothesis.. wikipedia states that: "the theory of markan priority is today accepted by the majority of new testament scholars".. .
is there a good reason why the wtbts dates the synoptic gospels in that order?how can they date matthew and luke so early?is it merely because the wtbts rejects the possibility of a "q" source, and possibly even the idea of collusion between the writers altogether?or is it because many scholars put the writings of luke and matthew after the destruction of jerusalem, meaning the "prophecies" of destruction became historical accounts of past events by the time they were written?

Pistoff, you are aware that Paul's writings are the ealiest available? So, we don't have anything prior to those letters. The general idea is that Paul is the closest we get to the original and emerging Church, the gospels (for example) being much later works written to/by established communities.
And, in just about the first thing we have, we have Paul talking about the resurrection.

Is the Watchtower the most "dumbed down" Christian theology?
by cantleave inwhen i was a witness i used to think that the wt's interpretation of ezekiel daniel and revelation was quite didactic and intellectually robust.. then i left and started reading the works of real christian theologians and scholars.
i was amazed at how superficial and vacuous the watchtower theology was in comparison.. since i have left it would seem the standard of scholarly insight has dropped to a new low.
i am sure that this is because for generations the message has been, "don't go to college...." and a culture of mediocrity dominates, resulting in an uneducated leadership creating doctrine.

Quick question: Threads like this seem to have an obligatory, off-topic observation with the general idea being that, of course, the entire idea of God is false. Designs has helpfully played that role here. Don't we think these sorts of posts are essentially in violation of forum rules?
Yes, I understand the irony of posting off-topic about posing off-topic. But that horse done left the barn already.
