  SFPW - indded 8 million strong, but I wouldn't mind betting that the amount of ex JW's is twice maybe three times that number. 8 million all believing a truth that will no longer be a truth in 10 years time, and when said truth is changed you will all start believing another false teaching for x amount of time. All in unison believing false teaching, and at the same time criticizing people who have held the same basic beliefs for centuries, calling THEM counterfeit Christians. Oh the irony.

  Speaking of unison, isn't it great how all the JW's worldwide received their copy of the NNWT at the same time...Oh wait they didn't did they. Only a select few. Backbitting? I know of plenty of backbitting, speculating and criticizing that went on over that issue alone. Sisters who had spent 25 years pioneering but had to stop due to poor health were not invited to the AGM while young 18 year olds atended. Yup nothing like unison.

  criticizing? Why don't you try telling the elders, and for that matter your whole congregation that you're taking part in discussions with apostates, on apostate sites, and see if there's really no criticizing.

  Could there really be something to the UFO phenomena? Amazing documentary

  it's easy to just poo-poo the ufo thing, especially if you're naturally very skeptical after your jw experience as i am, but when you see documentary's like this it seems undeniable that some kind of inexplicable phenomenon is occuring.

  could vehement deniars of the ufo phenomenon please suspend their criticisms until they've at least watched the whole documentary, to be fair to others who are more open-minded on this subject.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjismjxshpg.

  There's a guy in the video by the name of Robert Dean at 22:26. I've seen this same guy in another video about UFO's, but on that video he started crying and saying he was abducted by aliens, and they showed him all sorts of magical things. He's a joke in my opinion. Search his name on youtube and I'm sure you'll come accross the video of him crying and saying he was abducted. I'm not saying UFO's are not real, who knows? It could even be us in x amount of years travelling back in time. I just don't know. But don't take anything Robert Dean says as serious.

  I went from door to door AND to the convention site last week!

  last week i went from door to door, i actually got suggested to go to this territory.

  my daughter was with me as well, she is used to going from door-to-door with her mother i suppose so i got her into a dress, got dressed up myself, told her about a simple introduction to use and how to politely go away from someone's door.

  i got some really great responses!

  i finally came to the realization that i am ugly.

  i'm 28 years old and never had a girlfriend.

  women pay me absolutely no attention when i'm in public.

  Dude trust me drugs are NOT the answer to anything. When I was about 15 a friend and I started to dabble with weed, LSD, cocain, ecstacy and speed. Over the years we used all those drugs very heavily, We ended up wanting a "Better buzz" and tried crack. We messed around with that for a while and both got in a pretty bad way. I ended up in rehab 5 times before I was 30 due to drugs and alcohol. Once after a binge on alcohol, cocain and ecstacy a friend found me unconscious choking on my own vomit, I was lucky someone was there otherwise I'd be dead, and all because I wanted to feel good for a few hours. I ended up getting off the drugs and the drink, But I've been left with pretty bad mental health problems, for which I'll spend the rest of my life on medication, just because I wanted to feel good for a few hours.

  My friend just couldn't/didn't want to stop, he started suffering real bad paranoia, then he was hearing voices and seeing things, his come downs after a drug binge became a living hell. One day he was at some house doing drugs all night and the next morning he had a really bad come down, he was in a real bad way so I was told. Anyway someone at the house had some heroin and offerd him some, assuring him it would calm him down and make everything alright. He took the heroin, then he started making it a regular thing after long drug binges on coke and ecstacy. 3 years later he injected some bad heroin and died, I really miss him but he just couldn't stop.

  Take it from me, you're only dabbling with drugs now to help you cope. But it WILL soon become the onlything that gets you through the day, you'll be taking drugs just so you can face going to the shops. Once they get a hold of you you'll want more of a buzz and start taking more, and then you'll start trying harder drugs. You will find yourself tangled in a web of you're own making, and life will feel 100 times harder than it is now. But by that point you'll be faced with a coice, do I continue or do I stop taking the only things that are making me feel better about life. Trust me, not many people return from that ride. Please just stop the drugs now.

  FS Visit Today

  just received a fs visit - first for several months.

  an attractive 'yummy mummy' with (what seemed to me) a strained smile and a very young girl (presumably her daughter) about 9 or 10.. the weather was attrocious, i was distracted, and i failed completely to make any comment or to challenge.

  looking at the young girl, particularly, i felt nothing but sympathy.. i accepted a leaflet 'can the dead really live again?

  When I was studying, every now and then I'd start to lose interest. And everytime I explained this to the elder I was studying with he seemed a little shocked, but! The very next time he came to see me after I'd explained how I felt, he always! came with his 25 yeard old, very! attractive daughter. I always thought he was using his daughter to entice me into the faith. Maybe I'm wrong but it certainly seemed that way. btw Joe Grundy I think you did the right thing not debating the ym infront of her daughter.

  an average of five kingdom halls being constructed daily, almost 8 million brothers and sisters, dissemination of bible literature in 595 languages, 111,795 congregations worldwide, distribution of 179 million bibles available in 116 languages, 239 countries where jehovah's witnesses have a presence, etc.. need i go on?.

  on the other hand........... crisis of conscience, freeminds, the awaa, jw.net, ummmmmm........hmmm........idk six screens or something?

  Mac Book Pro with Retina or Dell XPS 15? (both with new Haswell processors)

  i've been in need of a new laptop for a long time.

  no, i mean it - a really long time.

  the old dell that we have has a floppy lid and is woefully underpowered although it does build up my upper body strength every time i pick it up.. the last 6 months has been a bad time to buy something new though with the haswell processors on the horizon promising better battery life and also screen technology seems to have been leaping ahead recently to a new hi-dpi standard.. so apple finally released their mac book pro and at the same time dell has released an xps 15 ultrabook which looks like a pretty good alternative and probably better 'value'.. pro's and con's?

  Hi Simon,

  I repair computers and have a long...history of using Windows.But recently I purchased a mac and I can say that I'll never switch back to Windows. I find using my mac stress free, everything just works as it should all the time. I really don't think you can go wrong with a mac book pro, and those retina displays are amazing. For me there's no competition, mac's have better build quality, a stronger, smoother and more secure OS and to add to that Apple's customer care is top notch.
