Need help understanding scriptues in Mathew. just trying to show my wife the BORG is soooo wrong
by goingthruthemotions inas you know i am still in but have no strong conviction for this cult..but i still go because my wife is still asleep to the false teachings.
for a few months now...when we have family study it is stricly from the bible.
which is great, while we study we are taking the bible as it is, i think it is opening her eyes and how important jesus is.

The boiling frog
by wolfman85 inthe boiling frog story is a widespread anecdote describing a frog slowly being boiled alive.
the premise is that if a frog is placed in boiling water, it will jump out, but if it is placed in cold water that is slowly heated, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death.
the story is often used as a metaphor for the inability or unwillingness of people to react to significant changes that occur gradually.

Too bad it doesnt work that way. The boiling frog story is just that a story, an urban myth.
I know it's a myth, but the sad thing is that what's happening with the JW's is very real.

This has been the story behind the old WTBTS and the new JW.org. Jw's are being cooked slowly by the GB.

JW.ORG Business Cards?
by toweragent indid anybody else get an announcement at their meeting about the branch approved jw.org business cards?.
apparantly, they're real slick and fit into your wallet (making it easier to informal witness).
the logic was, some people don't want to be handed a big tract and would prefer something smaller.. so strange considering how little there is to those tracts!

Testimony card returns
by sir82 inold timers, or careful readers of the proclaimers book, are familiar with the "testimony card" used in the early days of rutherford-era door to door witnessing.
the jw would traipse up to a house, knock, hand the card over to the householder, and wait while he read it.. well, it seems that "everything old is new again".
here is an excerpt from a recent boe letter:.

New light?
by Ignoranceisbliss inmy father who is an elder with decent organizational connections mentioned that very soon there would be "new light" regarding the resurrected being able to be married.
this would make sense because our current understanding has never made any sense to me.
has any one else heard anything about that?.

Luke 20:35-36
New English Translation (NET)
35 But those who are regarded as worthy to share in that age and in the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. 36 In fact, they can no longer die, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, since they are sons of the resurrection.
These words of Jesus make a lot of sense if we consider a spiritual and not carnal resurrection .

IF THERE WAS NO FIRST HUMAN.....
by DATA-DOG in...and new species of "humans" have appeared gradually, do we have "x-men" amoung us??
so many people are willing to automatically discount abilities that cannot, as of yet, be explained by our current scientific knowledge.
is it too frightening to entertain the idea that there are new and possibly better "humans" in our ranks?

Great Crowd is NOT under the New Covenant...Where does it say this?
by Christ Alone ini was wondering if there was anywhere someone could point to in the bible for the watchtower belief that the great crowd is not included in the new covenant.
i know that this is their line of thinking when it comes to jesus being mediator.
they say that jesus is only mediator of the new covenant and since the gc is not under the new covenant, jesus is not specifically a mediator to them.

Thanks leaving_quietly for those texts. It is very clear that in the amended covenant ALL were included.

-God saves through his son. It's that concept that matters to me.
-What is essential is God's will to save. No doctrine of men can change that or determin who will be saved or to what destiny.
-Your slavation does not depend on your (or anyone else's) understanding of a covenant. It depends on God who saves us through Christ.
Great points OG, and I share them too. Thanks for answer.
