What was the worst KH architecture/design you ever saw?
by BoleynGirl inthe first hall i attended as a study was built in the 1960s.
it was basically an orange brick box with aluminium framed windows.
there was no air-conditioning and it heated up like an oven in summer.

I am only 29 and never had to live through any of this era. Your stories have made me cry. A bunch of men beyond draftable age sending 18 year olds to prison so they could seem rightous. I know others have sufferd far more in Malawi, but this is more personal, I know people who this could have happened to.
The stories I heard growing up, and the obvious revisionist history dont match what I am learning today. I had always thought it was some sort of easy thing you just tell them you are a conscientious objector....like some sort of draft board cryptonite. I had heard some went to prison which I thought was to avoid actually shooting someone. Is it really love for you neighbor to not work in a hospital to help them when they are wounded? Wouldnt the good samaritan do that? How could they make someone do 2 years in prsion over that?
It is just so sad and really makes me angry.

An explanation for the increase in anointed
by pirata inremember, if you see this in the watchtower, or hear it in a talk, you heard it here first .
evidently, since we are so close to end of this system of things, god has seen it fitting to fill the final spots held open for the 144,000.. there.
simple, elegant, and doesn't require an overhaul of the 144,000 jw belief..

SURVEY: Is a JWN members post count a reasonable indicator of their theist/atheist position? If so what can be learned from that?
by nicolaou ini've done no research on this but i suspect that a members belief or absence of belief in god may have some correspondence with the number of posts he or she has made.. my tentative suggestion is that members with fewer than 500 posts are mostly believers while members with more than 3000 posts are mostly non-believers.
of course there are exceptions, maybe quite a few, but i'm only dealing with generalities here.
so how about a survey?

Hi, new to this forum. Figured I'd let everyone know about my story before I got involved.
by JonathanH inif you just want the juicy details where i leave, i'll make disclaimer where it begins, if you just want to know what happened with the elders and organization after i realized it wasn't true, i'll mark that seperately.
we didn't do jack shit in service, or in the congregation.
maybe this was how jehovah came about?

I know that is an odd wish, but as I have started to read this board and hear about many people’s experiences I realized how much sooner I would have left the untruth had I lived in a congregation where no one was a thinker.
In my congregation well over 50% of the publishers were college educated, this included many of the elders. So whenever I doubted the truth I thought "Well he went to Harvard, and he went to a great school in Europe, so if they believe it, who am I to doubt it." So you just think I am 19 I think they would know....so give it time.
It is funny when you realize that the people whom you thought were so smart, could not figure out the basic flaws in this religion. I wish I could smack some sense into the people who wasted the first 20 years of my life, with the religion, and the next 10 with self-doubt and guilt. But I realized, you have to let go. You can’t be angry at these people forever; it just makes you a bitter person. If you get so wrapped up in disproving this group then you lose your life, and the religious terrorists win.
So I am happy that I have an outlet on here to complain a little, and grow a little. But it does make me wonder, what if I was in that congregation where no one had been to college. Would I have been on my way and down the road by 17? Fun game, but no one knows.

Call out to faders- stories needed
by Coffee House Girl inhey all out there on jwn, newbies and veteran favories:.
i faded from my cong about 21 months ago and have been talking about my experiences leaving the org to a journalist who is interested in doing a freelance piece on exiting jws or even jws who have doubts/have eyes opened about the wtbs and stay "in" for family/friends.
to put her subject of interest in her own words, she wants experiences of jws who are:.

Did any of the other faders call it that before coming on a site like that? I started fading 8 years ago and cut off the memorials about 2 years ago. I told some friends it was better to fade than be DFed like my dad was.....Just curious if most people were thinking the same way individually or if they found the term or the idea of fading on this site.

When Jesus was talking about a generation....I bet he was talking about the fall of Jerusalem. He said that around 31 CE and by 70CE bam it was destroyed....looks like our 40 year generation is over by now....
