18Governing Body Worship
by dontplaceliterature ini was recently invited to join some friends for a meal.
they had a family member visiting from out-of-town who was older, and knows personally a few of the governing body members.
this individual went on about how wonderful those men are, and how happy they are to be led by the gb.. it was mentioned how telling it was that they have not been filling empty spots on the governing body, and how that the men now serving on that body were "just like us" - that one of them had been divorced (i did not know this), one of them was a vet from 'nam (i think i had heard this), and that one of them had several children, etc.

Thinking about loosing my friends ....

The other great thing about new friends is that no group of men can ever tell you to not hang out with them, on pain of disfelloshiping. I have a hard time talking to one of my parents anymore....I love them, but I cant handle all of the talk about what the society says when I veiw it as silly. It is a hard process to grieve those that you have lost, but the blow is softened by the new people you bring into your life. Better to do it now than 5,10,15 years from now when it is that much harder to make new, and lasting friends.

I really liked lunch time at the assemblies. They also taught me that religions is a snare and a racket......so that was nice.

The Trinity
by The Quiet One ini have a question, primarily for trinitarians, but anyone's more than welcome to comment.
what scriptural basis is there for believing in the trinity?
i can understand some having the view that jesus/jehovah both can be worshipped, and the view that jesus should be, but where in the bible is the holy spirit worshipped?

I am sticking with the Gnostics....Jehovah was a jerk who created everything contrary to his God's desire, Jesus came down to free the Jews from him, sent by the top tier God. Seems like a way better myth to believe.
Or you could go with the fact that the OT is unitarian and the jews dont believe Issiah prophisized a virgin birth, but rather a birth to a young woman. THinking that the Greeks messed things up with the LXX... Afterall Mark and John dont really bring it up and paul doesnt mention the virginity either....
So when you think of all that....does it matter?

this event speaks of the demon known as legion, and jesus allows them to enter swine and they all run off a cliff.
the question i have is why would anyone be herding swine when jewish and islamic doctrine/beliefs do not allow swine to be eaten or touched due to being an unclean animal???

Well why would drinking unicorn's blood make you immortal? It is the story people made up. They had a bunch of pigs that ran off a cliff and could not figure it out.
In the bible story he might have known he could not resist Jesus so he made the point of killing something before Jesus could stop him...

Went to the DC today...
by dontplaceliterature ini caught the entire session today, and strangely, it was the first time i was able to stay completely alert for an entire dc program.
i'm guessing the reason for that is that i was looking at the program with a critical eye for the first time in my life and was not being hypnotised by mind-numbing repitition (see steve hassen's combatting cult mind control).
the program wasn't that bad.

I got baptized at 18 to get everyone off my back....they start to wonder about you, and make comments about making the troof your own.....I didnt even think about how question #2 made me a made man in the WTS....only one way out my friend lol.(that is not to say I didnt understand disfellowshiping...more just not thinking about the question)

how does the wts manage to travel from the 7th year of cambyses to the date of the fall of babylon?.
