Does that mean if a Gay person was a witness....'ordained minister' that they could go visit their partner....or just get one of those ordained minister things from oniline....sounds like a good stop gap until DOMA is repealed.
when i was a bible fundamentalist jehovah's witness it was easy for me to dismiss homosexuality as a sin and move onto the next, more interesting, topic.
it is much more complicated than that for me at this point in my life.. i think about it this way:.
what if i, a heterosexual, were raised in a community where everybody was homosexual and heterosexuality had a harsh taboo attached to it.

i am not a jehovah's witness.

as i understand it, the wts when translating the nwt used the emphatic diaglott by benjamin wilson.
There is a little known bookstore i like to use.....Amazon
And this little Flea Market that I like....Ebay
To get them free go study with a JW and go to meetings for a few months and order them while never donating....or ask a current JW to stick it to the man and order these(takes like 60 days) and not donate....maybe offer to pay shipping.
recent events on this board have got me thinking, which is no small feat.
christians are arguing more with each other than with atheists.. christians used to be sure of what they believed solid in their faith and certain of its foundation cornerstone and what he was called.
only non-believers cast doubt and were crushed under a mountain of bible passages that were heaped upon them.
R'Amen cantleave R'Amen
Here is one of your brothers talking to some of your former sisters.(I feel a little bad for the first sister)
i find myself asking that question more and more of late.. my first reason is the claim of a virgin birth.
all of the jewish sources i read say that isaiah 7:14 does not talk about a virgin birth, but rather a birth to a young maiden.
it was only the greek septuagint that shifted this belief to a virgin birth that is similar to their greek myths.. .

I don’t see any legitimate reference to a trinity in the Old Testament. Deuteronomy 6:4 is very clear that YHWH is only one god. When I look at the New Testament there are a lot of scriptures that support a binity at the very least and possibly a trinity.
These questions make it much easier for me to not believe that the bibl was inspired in any way.
This is not a post to argue the trinity it is more about the possible thoughts and motivations for the change in theology while claiming Christianity was truly from Judaism.
obviously 607 is a problem, watchower coming out full forces on this one in the latest public edition.. http://download.jw.org/files/media_magazines/wp_e_20111001.pdf.
Is there a good thread on the WTS use of terrible and misleading quotes. I still think of the Jeramiah books conflating Elizat Mizir's work with 607 when she had said 587.
watchtower pre-eve adam was not male!
today i uploaded a new article to my blog addressing watchtowers teaching of adams sexuality at the time of his creation.
as it turns out, adam was not originally created as a male.
I have been told the same thing by Jewish Rabbis. Hence adam being made in gods immage, who was niether male or female. Once she took his rib he was a man. What a lovely Myth.

I hope someone with more knowlegde refutes this....I have been making this point to people and will need a we bit of backup.
is "disfellowshipping" proper from a biblical point of view?.
I would point out that the Prodigal Son was welcomed back immediately. If you look at Pauls words through Jesus' thoughts you would reinstate someone immediately and not kep them out for 6 months to a few years. Everyone likes to quote the tax collector's work rather than think how would Jesus have handled it.
i was recently invited to join some friends for a meal.
they had a family member visiting from out-of-town who was older, and knows personally a few of the governing body members.
this individual went on about how wonderful those men are, and how happy they are to be led by the gb.. it was mentioned how telling it was that they have not been filling empty spots on the governing body, and how that the men now serving on that body were "just like us" - that one of them had been divorced (i did not know this), one of them was a vet from 'nam (i think i had heard this), and that one of them had several children, etc.
Serenity...not sure if you were joking or not....he was GB from 1974-2006.
i think the harddest part of all this process of fading is losing friends .... ive been jw all my life and my all my close friends are jw ... im sad.
29 year old virgin....I was bitter that I waited till 21 when my friend lost it at 14....7 years is a long time to have to be more comfortable withyourself.
