after i had the big one, i moved quickly into medical books to determine what furute treatment would be my choice for dealing with my 'heart condition.
1. coronary by-pass: this is currently very accepted, and may be needed, but i am holding off for now.
the idea of someone cracking my sternum open and lifting out my heart to splice leg arteries into it seems difficult and radical without at least exploring other options.
Amazing hon - you're going to be a qualified heart specialist at the rate you're goin' ! I admire you though - being well informed regarding every possible treatment is an excellent thing. It's scary to think of the number of people who leave it up to their doctors. I guess those people still view docs as gods of a sort.

sometimes i don't know why the hec i feel the need to explain my story, at least, this is the feeling today, however, there are a few matters that i am absolutely furious with the society and the elders for instigating.
maybe i have lost the belief that putting my story across will do a blind bit of good, who know's, but still i take that chance that it may benefit even one or two.
in many ways, my life has moved on so far beyond jw issues that no longer do they impinge upon my thinking processes, i just want to leave all the issues behind, rather than reliving painful memories, which in turn, give rise to feelings of anger inside me, an emotion which i have struggled to come to terms with and feel that by now, i have dealt with successfully.
Mark - keep it comin'. Telling one's story is difficult. It dredges up old feelings and thoughts. It does however, seem to bring a special kind of freedom - the telling. You get to piece a few more pieces of the puzzle together.

inside the convention.. now now, before apologists and dissents come my way.....i got a protest permit to be on said premis, and also, once i wear the wig and show the sign....as soon as they tell me to leave, i will comply...therefore i cant go to jail(saaay all you want, i already have an "ace up the sleeve" on this, so guess what?

Marilyn hon - I hope your little one bounces back from that brush with death. I lost my big-guy last year to a car. He died just before I got him to the animal ER. He died a horrible death and I just wanted to end his misery for him. We cried for days and still get teary when we speak of him.
Please let us know how yer little furry one is doing. Let's face it - they're family. I'm also very glad for you that you found him/her after he/she ran off. It's in a cat's nature to crawl away and die quietly out of sight.

why is it, in this society, that we have been so willing to accommodate religious institutions at the risk of children's welfare?
Society often touts it's premise of children being protected as a primary goal, but when all is said and done, when the fat lady sings, since children do not have a voice like that of Labor Unions or the political clout, the money, the connections, they will fall down the ladder of what is actually deemed important, then slip through every crack imaginable in this adult world.
Now, of course children cannot organize like the unions; they must rely on adults motivated by untarnished desires to protect them. Unfortunately, when it comes to passing legislation and enforcing such, we're talking about people who are carrying political, financial and religious clout - people who's motivations are tarnished in one way or another. This causes even those who are child protection advocates to slip through those very same cracks.
The only possible and responsible protection for children is a zero-tolerance when it comes to sexual abuse, medical negligence, and enforced with gusto. Will we ever see that? Sadly, I doubt it. We're living in a who-you-know-not-what-you-do world. Will it stop me from trying to protect children? Never.

my daughter was on my pc and i was still signed into my im.
i was trying to take a nap.
anyway, a fellow member of this board ..who shall remain nameless signed in on im and my daughter told them i was napping, this then made me a prime target for a prank..
OH, this room is a dangerous one! LOL. My neighborhood awoke to the sights and sounds of police one morning. It seems someone had peanut-butter and jammed an entire car. It turned out to be an April fool's joke. I laughed everytime I thought of the owner trying to wash that darn stuff off!

yep,one year ago tonight i first posted here.i had lurked for a few weeks,never intending to post,but a particular thread hit so close to home for me,that i felt like i had to voice my opinion.of course,i was promptly slammed as being a troll,but i was stubborn enough to hang around.here i am still hanging,a whole year later.
i've maybe learned more in this past year than in the ten before it all put together.i've learned a whole lot about myself-about who i am,and why.i've learned about the organization that shaped my life and my family.originally i was shocked by alot of what i read here,and wasn't sure whether or not to believe it all.but looking back,knowing what i do now explains an awful lot of things.
i've learned lot's about people,too.like many who were raised jw,i led a very sheltered childhood(even more so living in the country,going to a small school).i'm still not sure if this is a real cross section of life,but i think it's pretty close.i'm happy to say that i've made lot's of friends here,some very good ones.though i've had my share of disagreements,i don't consider anyone here an enemy.

i really need to talk and try to get some things out.
i am one of the managers at a local fast food restaraunt.
we live in a quiet town and on friday night after one in the morning one of my employees and i went outside to take out the trash.
That was a terrifying thing for you and your workers to go through. I'm so glad you went to the ER to be with her though. I'm sure that meant alot to her.
For what's it's worth - my email is open, and you and your workers will definitely be in my thoughts. Please let us know how the investigation goes. I hope the police catch the people who did this.
