  two gay men and their fathers....

  i am still amazed that anyone (as on a recent thread) could believe that being gay (homosexual) is the result of bad parenting -- .

  co-incidentally, on another board that i post on, there were some posts about relationships with fathers.... please note, that i have edited out identifying information, and that in the country of origin english is not the first language.. .

  Singsongboi - Thank you for posting those stories. While I know you were doing so to make a point to someone in another thread - they touched me deeply.

  I had never known a dad like this. The stories you posted were from my dreams; the things I'd wish for at xmas and birthdays. My father was a violent man, and all around horrible person. I am happy for the men in those posts, that their Dads were there for them and set such fine examples of humanity.

  I have no problems with homosexuality btw. I believe people are born hetero or homo - sexual. Science has shown this to be the case. For those who have 'problems' with homosexuality, no amount of scientific data will convince them otherwise. These are people who cannot and will not see past the labels society puts on others.

  thank you again for your thread. It warmed my heart considerably.

  what brings a smile to your face?

  i cant help but smile when my wife laughs, or when my kids play outside.

  i also smile when my boy, who is 15 wants to talk to me.

  First and foremost - watching my two girls grow, listening to them having humongous giggle fits, seeing them pleased with their accomplishments and sticking up for themselves and feeling good about themselves.

  My two dogs and two cats. It's an entertaining daily floor show. And when my fish sleeps in her castle with her head sticking out the top and her butt out the bottom.

  The ocean. The sky. A breeze. A sunbeam. Birds chirping.

  Hearing my dog breathe at night, or my cat snore.

  Knowing I've come a long, long way from where I've been.

  Realizing the people here really care about me and won't abandon me.

  When I can help others through a bad night or time.

  There's so much to smile about, and smiles are contagious. I like to smile to strangers who look like they are having a hard day.

  Anyone w/anxiety disorders? Describe it.

  i'm curious to see if anyone here has any major anxiety disorders and how it affects their lives.

  as a semi-confession, i think i may have something of this sort, but i'd like a comparison first.

  being a male, i never go to the doctors unless my leg is falling off, so i don't just want to go to a doctor to medicate a problem that could be overcome in other ways.

  Really though, I went through YEARS of therapy before resorting to meds. In my case, I had to. I cannot function curled up in a ball. I'm thrilled to be off the valium and on something non-addictive. I look forward to the day when the stress levels are manageable.

  I, too, am a sufferer of anxiety related disorders. The docs finally found that because of my childhood - severe abuse - my Fight-or-Flight response got stuck in the 'ON' position. They put me on a med that allowed me to get off valium. The stress in my life has always been off the scale, and they are hoping that once I can get control of the related issues, that my system will calm down.

  - feel I can't breathe; tremble; space out (dissociate); implode (muscles tighten considerably to the point of spasm); heart races; dizziness; mind races

  I've used yoga and walking as useful tools in relaxation. Sometimes though, it's all I can do to curl up on my bed and just hang on.

  How about we select people from this forum as world leader for a day and see how they would change things - in thought and idea? Or leader of the month, and let it change so everyone gets a chance.

  People forget the average Joe and Jane. While we may vote - I consider our class to be more in tune with reality than politicians.

  How many Artists here? Which field of Art?

  i know i asked this absolutely yonks back, then by the name of celtic, but with so many newcomers here i thought no harm but to ask once again.. how many artists do we have here or working in art related fields including film, music, theatre, environment, gardening, sculpture, graphic design, illustration, fine art, photograpy etc etc?.

  what hobbies do you have?

  how do you see your future artistic horizons opening up?

  terafera - you and I must be twins separated at birth ;)

  I'm very artsy. (experiencing a drought recently) I found it's my 'voice' when I'm going through hard times.

  I sketch, charcoal, oil paint, write poems and lyrics, play piano by ear and a bit of guitar; I paint wall murals, interior decorate, bake and sew (when I had the funds), and finger paint. Yes, I said finger paint! (someone posted and asked if that counted - darn tootin'!)

  On the wall of the stairs to our rec room, I'm getting my girls and their friends throughout the years that have 'lived' here, to put their hands in different colors of paint and put their hand print on the wall. We're also making our pets do it! haHAH!

  I decided this past winter that our home needs COLOR. I hate beige and all white. I hate conformity. Our xmas presents consisted of paint and supplies. It's being done in spring colors (3 greens in the diningroom) (a sky, with bright clouds on the stairway to upstairs, and then hanging a colorful kite to fill the towering space) It's improved our moods alot.

  I also do scrapbook work. (going through magazines and cutting out pics that 'fit' with my mood and words, and working through my emotions that way. Between the borg and my father - I was never allowed to show any negative emotion.

  Art definitely heals. I believe there is an artist in everyone. You don't need a degree!

  I HOPE THE LADY IS OKAY....

  yestersay we went shopping nd we was waiting for the bus home (we are not big dudes with computers and cars - like those on this site have -- well we was sitting on the bus bench talking to an elderly lady when all of a sudden we heard a big thud ad a fenale scream it was awful she had been hit by a pickup truck and i saw it just as she had been knocked down to the very hard ground--lord only knows how extensive her injuries are especially the internal ones / an awful gash on her forhead blood everywhere---lisa and i r very kind and sensitive ladies to those that r deserving and today we r trying keep the awful sight out of our minds as best we can and it is not easy 4 us at all--sure hope the dude who was driving the pickup has good car insurance something tells me he is going to need it..i see us needing tylenol pm too for a while as well...i hope i have been coherant enough i sure was shook up by it and lisa ia concerned i will have another stroke because of this terrible accident yesterday...i was thinking about it and gee this lady could have been anyone -- could have been one of you posters on this site / even ajw and guess what i actually care about you for some reason---and i am trying to chill for my own good health and i am keeping my meds as well up so i do not go into seizures and or stroke---i know all on this site be they active jws or former jws have become very fond of queenie and family and we are taking good care of ourselves so do not worry about us and hope we do not see anything so awful for quite sometime !!!

  Oh Queenie hon,

  It's an awful thing to go through - to witness such an event. Even when I was an EMT on the ambulance, there were calls that after my shift was over, I'd try to get drunk and forget (never worked though - too much adrenaline)

  Please take good care of yourself Queenie. I'm so glad Lisa is there. My email is open if you need to talk.

  .... I mean it you stubborn sweetheart - take care of yourself, and allow Lisa to help you out ;)

  SUICIDE IN KH PARKING LOT

  last saturday, a former ministerial servant and pioneer committed suicide in the woodinville washington kingdom hall parking lot.

  he was disfellowshipped several years ago, and according to the old sister that related the story to me today, he was depressed because no one would talk to him.

  i don't know how i kept calm when she explained to me that "we couldn't talk to him...he was disfellowshipped.".

  This is so tragic. This breaks my heart. My best friend in the troof killed herself when she couldn't take the judgements of the elders anymore. She was kept from seeking help; she was marked.

  I think these bastards should be charged with murder. They're going after bullies in school now (finally), and the borg is FULL of the bullies.

  This is just.. it's, ..... so sad.

  Here's My Graduate !

  my baby graduated from high school.

  my son is in here too, with her.

  in about 4 years, if things go as planned, i'll be having a big graduation party for the both of them as they both graduate from college together.

  Can You Feel My Pain?

  oh darn...i hate when life grants those wishes, when you ask for them.

  this august 7th i leave the u.s. and fly to rio de janeiro and will be coming back late january or should time provide, mid march.

  i dread staying untill march, because of carnival...i know, i know...terrible, absolutely terrible.
