I once read that God only gave 10 Commandments and like Moses said, he added NO MORE ... the Israelites wanted to be like the nations around them ... well to these very day those nations around them practice that same law the Israelites put themselves under ... ancient civilizations were brutal ... anyway these got me thinking ... also I read that very easily the Israelites wrote that after the fact to excuse themselves with "God made me do it" --- we will never know I guess ... I think that we as Christians take everything so literal ... Jewish people are different and the scriptures were entrusted to them ... I personally choose to believe that "God so loved the world ... "

What if a Bible movie . . .
by NewChapter ingraphically and accurately portrayed bible accounts from other points of view?
let's face it, movies have a greater impact than books.
it pains me to say this since i like to pretend i can write, but that is just the way it is.

The following could well apply to born-ins - just change Nazi for "Watchtower" Terror and we had NO choice - LOL!
It is not possible to quantify the losses suffered by families whose mothers or fathers were given lengthy sentences in camp or prison because of their faith. Beyond the lost wages, lost property, and lost years are the intangible costs suffered by all victims of Nazi terror. Unlike other victims, however, most Witnesses had a choice.

They know NO SHAME!!!!
I went to visit the Holocaust museum in Washington and of course stop to see the JW's exhibition, this was BEFORE I saw the letter they sent to the Nazis and other stuff... and I sent an email to the Museum asking them about the JWs and that they shouldn't have a place there nor I wanted my contribution to the Museum be used in anyway to keep that stupid JW exhibition there - LOL! God bless the JW that died during the holocaust, they are not to blame, but I hated the fact how the Watchtower kept changing the actual numbers of JW victims. As usual, they always make it believe that it was in the thousands of thousands (and don't get me wrong, ONE was too much) but they used them as propaganda to get more money I guess just like in Malawi....
Yes, please go to the Holocaust museum website and write emails to them advising them of the posture of the Watchtower Corporation leaders during the Nazi regime.

I ditto ... undercover's last paragraph ... with double emphasis on reading the bible on your own. Get a different bible if possible.
Take some time off organized religious services, hopefully you'll husband understand. Enjoy your freedom. Take plenty of time for yourself always thanking the Heavenly Father and asking him to guide you to His son if that it is really the desire of your heart.
The only "scary" thing that happened to me after leaving the Watchtower Corporation was to discover its TRUE history: beginnings, founders, false teachings, false prophecies, pagan symbols, selective references, their "untruths", United Nations scandal, Malawi double standard, but most of all - that they say that Jesus is not my Mediator ... OMG! when I read this I almost fainted! That's not what the bible says. Moreover thanks to the Watchtower deception I now know for sure that the Devil exists ...and that's scary, to know that Satan controls religions like WTC to bring people to oppose Jesus as our Mediator, they have put Jesus aside and sit on his throne ... the only benefiting from this insult to Jesus is Satan, that's scary Kitty!

Luke 21:8 - Who Should We Really Avoid?
by Darth Rutherford inluke 21:8 - who should we really avoid?.
in his sign of the last days, jesus warned his followers: look out that you are not misled; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, i am he, and, the due time has approached.
(luke 21:8) jesus provides clues that help us identify who to avoid.

Question...?
by cptkirk indoes anyone come into this religion who is doing well in life?
not to say any one particular person never did well in life, but when they were studying and getting baptized, at that particular time in their life, were things going good for them?.
i'm trying to figure out if anyone comes into this religion, while life is going good for them.

Most of JWs are born-ins ... and some outsiders may have their lives changed for a while then turns into emotional hell and cult indoctrination some cannot escape ... it is truly demonic the influence one is under ... I see all my JW family, friends and others... they "appear" to be happy people but their homes are plagued by alcoholism, drugs, lies, adultery, fornication, hatred, sexual abuse, poverty, misery, depression, illnesses, dirty houses, teenage pregnancies, YET on the weekends they put on their "modest" dresses and go knock on people's door offering them "a BETTER way of life." The funny thing is that my family is convinced they live in a paradise already. I am sorry but the Bible says that we would recognize Christ's followers but its fruits. My mom is the only JW in her family, from her 3 generations of JWs have sprung, all of her brothers and sisters donot believe in her message because they see her fruits ... she has
alcoholic, adultereous, wife-beater, thieve, husband (now they are divorced);
alcoholic, drug addicts, in/out jail, DF'd; school dropouts sons;
alcoholic, topless dancer, school dropout, "rebelious" daughter;
2 older daughters married to alcoholic, wife-beater, adulterous, abusive, JW husbands - one impregnated my other sister (the topless dancer when she was 15 - so this a-hole had sex with my 2 sisters, got them pregnant at the same time, they gave birth one month apart). My other sister's husband used to frequent questionable establishment where you pay girls for sex ... yet the elders never paid any attention to her pleads for help as he would rape her while drunk, she was the one being neurotic, problematic, not a good christian wife etc etc etc ... anyway ... this is only my family, these are the children that have been under my mom and dad influence ... in my case and my youngest sister who listened to me... we are so different and guess what? we still believe in God, the bible, we follow Christ now not the Watchtower CORPORATION.
if I would take the time to tell you all the stories about my niece and nephews, their JW family on the part of their dad or their JW inlaws, the list would be endless ... from abortions to pedophilia, children the result of adulterous relationships yet covered by other JW family members, people with nerves breakdowns ending in jail ... my young niece a JW in "good standing "is dating a married wordly man as we speak ... yet she thinks she is way better than me and my children ... we are going to be destroyed in armageddon - the blindess upon these people is really demonic I tell you. They cannot think. They live in a different reality.
In contrast all of my family that are not JWs that are loving, prosperous, educated people with each generation being better than the last. I am ashamed to even visit them because they want updates on my crazy family ... but they understand that what happened to my mom and her offspring is because of that religion ...
I was very little when I saw the "fruits" of this religion and I vowed that I would be different, that I was going to break the cycles, that no matter what they said, I love God and God loves me.

Your most memorable Kingdom Hall meeting disruptions!
by easyreader1970 ini remember about twenty years ago some teenagers were caught fornicating in one of the additional schools.
the schools were downstairs, essentially separated from the rest of the kh.
they weren't just happened upon, though.

Welcome my child! Let me call you that as I am old enough to be your mother, I think. I feel, I hurt for you but there is also a great joy at knowing that you may finally get free from that cult. I am so sorry your mother treated you that way, my JW parents were awful to me too all while pretenting to be role models in the congregation - but aren't we glad that's our past and thanks God he had created another day called "Today" and "Today" we can be free and exercise all the rights we have as human beings!!!! The world is your stage Kitty!
My daugther's nick name is Kitty - she loves cats. My daughter is 14 years old and for a while the doctors thought she may have either Asperger's or Tourette syndrome but thanks to medicine (only a round of pills for panic attacks) and lots of faith and prayers the experts didn't find anything wrong with her after all. I was so surprise because you wouldn't believe it after seing the video diary I kept for her. But lots of my friends were praying for her and I have already found Jesus when the worst came and we weathered it like the victorious people we are in Christ. She was like that since around 4 years old but it only got worst every year ... Anyway, I totally understand you and feel so bad for you, you needed LOTS of love, of reassurance, of company, friendship, shelter, nurture, you needed people on your side - but like I said before ... thanks God for "TODAY" not yesterday, not tomorrow, "TODAY" you can start making a difference in your own life and you are on the right track (thinking of leaving). Please take the advice of some of the people here, some are ex-elders, read the books they recommend, and my only thing is DON'T LET THE WATCHTOWER TAKE "GOD" AWAY FROM YOU. You need a higher power in your life.
I am sending you my best wishes for restored health, may you be made whole again, (may you be born again - it is possible you know!)
All my love to you Kitty ... I'll be here for you ...

It's the closest thing to the Truth...
by garyneal inthis is what my jw wife has been saying as of late when it seems like she has no way to defend the doctrines of 1914, blood, as well as their false predictions, etc.. i've seen on this board where others have encountered this come back as well.
it seems that the witnesses are getting a little slack and it makes me wonder how they can justify their position of their religion being the only true religion.. first off, being the "closest thing to the truth" implies that the truth itself is known.
therefore, if the truth is known, why settle for being in a religion that is 'the closest thing to it?

Dear Lord! There is no such thing as "closest to the truth" when it comes to God things in my opinion ... I smoke but I didn't inhale type of thinking ... LOL!!!!
