  Need some good parenting advice...

  Big ... NO NO from a Human Resources/Personnel point of view ...

  He is a young adult already Diana, and I am sure you want only the very best for him ... my son is 13 by the way ...

  I live in Texas ... it sounds likea great opportunity for your son to explore the world and grow a lot, but it has to be something he really wants to do, as a parent you have the right to push him a little but not to the extend of calling his employer ...LOL! ... he seems to be a well manered boy and didn't not backlash at you for doing that ... I am not criticizing you okay, it is funny what we moms would do sometimes ...

  Timing of "thinner magazines" announcement

  the announcement of the reduced number of pages in the watchtower & awake will be made after the watchtower study following the "special talk" on april 8.. theoretically, that's when there will be more visitors and "outsiders" than usual.

  even the talk itself has 1/2 of its content directed at inactive jws.. obviously this reduction in pages has been in the works for several weeks if not months.

  why pick that date to announce it?

  It is another of their scare tactics ... SADLY a lot of inactive JWs still hold onto the Watchtower beliefs about "Armageddon" they and active JWs will think the end is "days" away AGAIN ...

  Why Elders leave the Organization and why their Wives stay.

  i have talked to quite a few brothers who have served as elders and servants and left the organization.

  in most cases their wives have remained in despite the husbands best efforts to persuade his wife that the organization is wrong.

  even though the wife can see problems within they continue to press on in service to the society.

  Both one of my sister and my mom stayed although their husbands - ex elders - left ... both think my father and ex-brother in law are under Satan's dominion and they see themselves as MARTYRS for stayind and enduring ... of course they receive a lot of "lip service" from the congregations, and they love to play the part of long suffering wives, I am telling you ... THIS despite the fact that for example my sister was unfaithful to her husband and even one of her children may not be her husband's ... LOL! Whenever I remember all the double standards of these people makes me laugh ... they push everything under the rug as long as they attend meetings and go door to door SALVATION is theirs ...

  Why do JWs think God would kill these people?

  this article from the guardian is one of the most harrowing pieces of journalism i have read in a long, long time.

  north koreans raised like rats in a cage, forced to work seven days a week, scavenge for food in cow manure, inform on family members to gain a tiny increase in their rations, tortured, starved, degraded .... which raises two big questions.. 1. why do jehovah's witnesses believe that these people would die at armageddon because they have not joined them in "god's organization"?

  how can jehovah's witnesses think god would be so legalistic, so small-minded, that he would deprive those people of life in a peaceful paradise ... just because no brother in a shirt and tie has ever knocked on the door of their barracks and offered them a chance for a bible study?

  Will smartphone/internet access lead to JW declines in Africa?

  samsung expects to grow the african smartphone market up to 20% within a year.

  with the smartphone people have greater access to the internet.

  i know many of the developing countries in africa have limited infrastructure and access to electricity, but i would think companies like samsung have plans in place to build up the market.. do you think enough phones (and subsequent internet access) will rollout to cause an impact on jw numbers in africa?

  Kingdom Hall remodel - scam

  i was wondering from any here in the know, does it seem like there is a lot of "remodels" going on?.

  in the last week i had the occasion to talk with two jw's in different halls, about 10 miles apart.

  they both are undergoing major remodels.

  Memorial Attendance – Need an Advice Please

  quick background info i am an ubm, studied somewhat, never baptized.

  mrs. bibyan is a successful fader her last kh attendance was the special talk after last years memorial.

  no grief from the local congo for missing; the elderette she was friends with would call or stop by once in a while, but no harassment.. the other day, mrs. tells me out of the blue she wants to go to the memorial.
