LOL Venice!
I'm in the same boat as joannadandy. My time had really dropped off because I was having so many doubts. How could I go out and try to convince someone that the JWs were right when I wasn't sure myself? I have no idea when the last time I went out was. Fall of 2000 sometime, I think.

Before I knew my husband, he used to play games with the JWs who came to his door. He is the most unreligious person you would ever know, through and through athiest, but he has studied the Bible. He would stump them left and right, and then laugh at them when they'd pull out the Reasoning book to try to find an answer. He'd say, "No, that's not the Bible. Show me in the Bible." They'd stutter and fuss...my husband loves doing that.
I never pulled out the Reasoning book at the door. I found it ridiculous. Imagine...you get asked a question you really should know by now, and you pull out some book and say, "Wait just a moment." Furiously flip through the pages, looking like a complete tosser to the "householder." *rolls eyes*

She is dying
by Vivamus ini have never felt more helpless in my life.
my grandma is sick, dying, and there is nothing i can do.
when i look at her, i see this echo of a woman that once was vital, strong and alive.

ANYONE JOINED A NEW RELIGION?
by Mary infor those who have left the organization, have any of you gone to another church?
or did being a jw simply turn you off religion altogether.
i feel i would like to still belong to a religious group (that's just in my personality) but of course, i would feel really guilty at first going in to "babylon the great".

I don't think I'll ever join another religion. I don't know if I believe in anything anymore. I'm very uncertain. I'm agnostic now.

KIngdom Melodies
by freedom96 injust wondering if there were any good funny stories out there with the songs.. there always were the loud ones, the ones who thought they could sing.. i remember wrong songs being played on the record, then later tape, (are they on c/d yet?
) and people singing to it, but the wrong music, but they keep going anyways, especially when the "new song book" came out.. how about when the record would skip.. of course there were the brothers back there who so loved their "repsonsibility" in the hall, and took the "privledge" of doing the music so serious.. i remember back when they allowed someone to actually play the piano, she sometimes would jazz it up a little, and the congregation loved it, made it more lively, until they were chastised for it.. and then of course, no one could play live anymore, didn't want to make the musician too proud.
do you think that was really the reason?

Even as a JW, I just knew the songs had been ripped off from somewhere. Blech. I cannot imagine singing them now. My husband would wet himself laughing at me.

Watchtower Has Statute of Limitation on SIN?
by Nanoprobe instatement from the vicki boer trial .
lawyer colin stevenson argued that momm and his allies were confusing the spiritual law of the witnesses, which imposes a three-year statute of limitations on such things as abuse, with the law of the land, which requires immediate reporting.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=36530&site=3.
was anyone aware of this?

I've never heard of any such thing. Is this new?
They did tell my father that since his abuse of me was "so long ago" (despite the fact that he lied about it for 20+ years), that he could remain an elder.

It's a Holo/Quantum World, Baby
by Satanus inin the last few years, there have been a few books on quantum holograms.
a hologram is the little pic on credit cards.
from what i understand, if someone cut up one of those pics, the complete original pic would be on each one of the pieces.
