FYI for whomever asked...Barnes & Noble is a great bookstore.
I just finished reading COC the other day. I couldn't put it down! Is ISOCF more of the same, or is it about more religous, spiritual stuff? I'm not interested in religion any more. :\
i am on the last chapter of this book!
i can hardly put it down.
have you all read it?

.
it never ceases to amaze me the propensity that the wbts has of seeing the straw in someone else's eye but not the rafter in their own.
this little gem is from the latest july 15th watchtower, page 22. .
Me thinks they're talking about *gasp* "apostates" in that last snippet. They sure some of the rank and file have seen the reports of child abuse, so they're saying it's lies, halftruths, whatever.
i'm not quite sure how to start this one, i'm new here and feel a bit of an outsider.
my sisters and mother are jehovah's witnesses and have been as long as i can remember.
i however, chose to follow a different path.
What do I do? I'm just a bit confused. I will understand if I am shunned
Why in the world would you be shunned? We're mostly a bunch of friendly people. :) I say mostly, coz I can be a right stroppy cow sometimes. :)
As for Jehovah and the military, it sort of goes against the "love your neighbour as yourself" law Jesus stated. But I'm sure others will be along to give much better explanations than I can.
But if you are considering joining the JW religion, please read through this and other sites first. There are many things that the Witnesses don't know about their own religion. I was considering going back, until I read some of the info here, things found in their own literature.
going through other peoples refuse is not exactly what you expect from jws.
in some places it would be banned and be an offence.. here is the admission.. 'from our readers'i really enjoyed the article on the garbage problem.
for a long time, i lived in a large apartment complex with several dumpsters on the property.
That's disgusting.
i just put a new mp3 audio on my site by bill & laura althaus.
it's from 1996 at the witnesses now for jesus convention in pennsylvania.
you can hear it at: http://www.towertotruth.net/audio.htm
I thought I did, but if I honestly look back at it, I feared what the elders told me would happen to me if I did wrong. I feared getting in trouble, i.e., disfellowshipped, etc. I don't honestly think it was fear of Jehovah.
And like someone stated above, I'm now a happy agnostic.

Eeeewwwww.
i know some have posted similar topics like this, but i thought it might be kind of fun (for the new ones that are coming here in droves) and others, to give some examples of catch phrases etc, that are unique to the jw world.
here's a few to start:.... "muster up boldness", "sound down into our hearts","satan's crafty acts", "paradisaic", "young ones"," discernment".....these are just a few of the more irritating.
add yours if you'd like.. integ.
That brings to mind....
It is a humbling experience to be part of Jehovah's visible organisation on earth, is it not? Our hearts fill with gratitude, do they not? Let us lift our voices in song to our God! Surely we can all sing with all our hearts (these really crappy songs), can we not?
Who the hell talks like that?! Makes them sound like Yoda.
Wolfgirl, of the is not, do not, can not class
hi , i have not posted here for a long time but have bee lurking.
i am part of the mulan dynasty.
i just need to vent and you guys are it.. the wedding invitation from my son came to my house today.
I'm sorry Inky. :(
My parents didn't attend my first wedding, when I married someone who had just gotten baptised, because they didn't approve of me dating him before his baptism.
They didn't come to my second wedding either, because I am DF'd.
were you a zealous defender of jehovah's witnesses?
are you now a zealous defender against the "truth"?
I did just about everything I was told as a JW. Everyone thought of me as a strong JW, up until near the end.
But my heart wasn't really in it; I can see that now. So as for being zealous, I think I'm more zealous now. I read much more about it now than I did then. It makes me want to tell others, unlike when I was a JW. :)
are you happier since you've found this place?
if jwd were gone tomorrow, would you just look for another site to get involved with?
my opinion of this board is that it is one of the best boards to learn current information from.
This site has helped me so much. I was already DF'd, but it was for immorality, and I was considering going back. Then my aunt found me through an online search, and she told me about the UN scandal. I knew nothing of it, naturally, and nothing of all the doctrinal lies, etc. She pointed me to this site, and I have learned so much from it.
It also gave me the courage to read COC. I am so glad I did!
Thanks, Simon. :)
