I vaguely remember an article that tried to wiggle around that problem in typical JW fashion....something like, "Obviously, Noah and his family brought along other animals to provide food." Something like that anyway.

Yet another example of how silly the Bible is...
by Abaddon inokay, let's go along with the flood story for a moment, to the point where noah exits the ark.. here we have noah, with two of each animal and seven of the clean animals; maybe a few dozen animals that were not essential to the future survival of the species.. what does god do?.
tells noah he can eat animals now.. are you telling me an all-wise, all-knowing god isn't capable of better planning than that?
which strikes you as more likely?

U.S. Women Like Brit Men Better
by GinnyTosken inthis just in from the globe weekly tabloid of july 29, 2003:.
it's not just stars like gwyneth paltrow, madonna, gillian anderson, liv tyler, and gwen stefani--british guys are many american gals' cup of tea.. "british men are more articulate, mature, and sophisticated," says cary cooper, a university of manchester (england) psychologist, who isn't entirely biased since he was born in hollywood and has citizenship of both the u.s. and the u.k. he adds that british men are better listeners and pay more attention to their women, while u.s. men are too juvenile.. "british men also invest more in a relationship and are more emotional," cooper says.. "american men are good at talking about emotion, but really that's all it is, talk.".
speaking of talk, might those sexy accents have something to do with it?.

I have been married twice...once to an American (ended in divorce) and now to an Englishman (happiest I've ever been in my life). Now almost all my friends are English. I LOVE the English! I have to agree with a lot of the article quoted originally, but only in application to my husband. I don't make too many sweeping generalisations. Well, I try not to anyway.
Oh and attentive to my needs....mmmmm.

Is there life after menopause?
by Sadie5 ina few months ago, at my last doctors visit, she strongly suggested i get off birth control pills to let my body go through menopause naturally.
it took a few days for me to work this out.
although i really dont want any more children, the idea that i could no longer have children saddened me.

I too went through surgical menopause...complete hysterectomy at age 26. Wheeeha...the mood swings and hot flashes until I got the proper dosage and type of HRT sorted out....I'm lucky I didn't kill anyone! I feel fantastic now, though. It's one of the best things I've ever done. FREEDOM!

How do you explain to a jw...
by Gadget inhow do you explain to a jw why you don't believe the jw teachings anymore?
you can explain what you believe and why, but if they're deeply in they can just pass it off as 'needing faith' etc.
so without going into deep deep issues(i prefer the keep it simple, sweetie approach), what points do you use to make jws think about things?
-
Wolfgirl
I haven't found an approach that doesn't bring up the automatic defensive circuitry in their brains.

I can't do it anymore.
by Gadget inpeople who've been reading my posts will know i've been trying to get reinstated so i can get back together with my girlfriend/fiance.
the more time goes on, the less i feel able to do that.
all the things i hear from the platform, and the things that elders have said to me just reinforce the fact that i want nothing at all to do with this organisation anymore.

I'm sorry you're going through all of this. :(

I got a similar comment (it's all lies from apostates) despite the person knowing what my father did to me.

Somewhere between never and once a year. Probably a handful of times during the 25 years I was in the org. When I was a kid, I'd sometimes get invited to one person's house, but not once we got older. You know, parents trying to keep the opposite sexes apart.

I am so angry!(venting)
by Sadie5 inyesterday i received not one but two water bills.
i immediately called city hall to question why we were getting two bills.
the clerk said it was because we were using water from a meter that had been inactive.

I used to work for the city government when I lived in the US. I saw some of the worst work ethics possible. One thing my @(*#&$& father did teach me was to have pride in my work, to do the best I can possibly do. So I always worked hard. It was really annoying to see how much rubbish everyone else got away with. Our hours were 8-4:30 pm. Many of the people just stopped working at 3, and spent the rest of the time chatting, painting their fingernails, browsing through catalogues, shopping, eating, personal phone calls, etc., etc.
I would be angry at such shoddy treatment too.

According to the unwritten rules, 2 door cars are proof that you are not spiritual enough, because it's too difficult to go out in service in a 2 door car. It means you can't drive, because no one wants to climb out of the back seat. 2 door cars are no-nos. *rolls eyes*
No double (or more) ear piercings
No sandals in field service without nylons
Sisters must wear nylons at meetings and in field service
No jeans skirts of any length
No slits past the knee (must be sewn up)
No bare arms on the stage
Brother’s hair length must not touch the collar
I had forgotten these, blondie. Same in our area. *shakes head*
