Humourous, yet interesting questions

time to crack the stuffiness out of ourselves today.

well...let's say, everyday.. i'm going to have some fun here, because well, anything besides that, is no fun.. questions, questions, and more questions, and what will the answers be?

you decide.. 1. are you an exjw, but still have remnants (shhh) of former jw thinking?.

1. Are you an exJW, but still have remnants (shhh) of former JW thinking?

ExJW, but no remnants of former JW thinking. It took me a while to rid myself of all of them, but I'm clean now. Honest.

2. Are you 'out' there? as in, not afraid to be seen on an apostate site, or known to be a former JW?

Out there, yes. I've got my own personal stalker *waves* who passes info to my JW family. I'm not afraid of this, because they know I'm out and disbelieving. It's more of an annoyance, because I value the peace and quiet in my life. Phone calls from my somewhat unstable mother do not help.

3. Are you angry, bitter or sad, as a result of your exposure and participation in JW activities/lifestyle?

Not angry about the beliefs, but angry at the abuse. I'm more "regretful" if that's a word. Wishing I could have experienced growing up in a "normal" way. Wishing I could have experienced the wonder of Christmas as a kid. Stuff like that.

4. Do you still have this feeling 'Armageddon' could still come anyday or in the future?

Nope.

5. What was your biggest epiphany that lead you to leave the JWs, or at least make plans to do so?

When the elders told my sexually abusive father that it was OK, he could remain an elder because it was so long ago; that it didn't matter that he'd lied about it for 25 years.

6. Do you still read/believe in the bible?

No/no. I occasionally discuss/debate it with friends who do believe in it, so I may look up a verse here or there to debate with them.

7. Do you still believe in god/higher power?

I'm an apathetic agnostic...I don't know if there's something out there, and I don't really care.

8. Do you accept other exJWs with opposing views than yours: athieism/agnostic vs. belief in god/higher power? (vice-versa)

Of course. To each his own. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, and I try really hard not to think badly of anyone, no matter what they believe or don't believe. I have friends who are Christian and friends who are athiest. My husband is athiest. It doesn't matter.

9. Do you grade people on their disfellowshipping offenses? ie: apostacy, fornication, smoking etc.

No. I'm just glad they're out.

10. Are you still a JW? (no names required)

No. DF'd nearly 3 years now.

11. Anything you'd like to add, for what it's worth?

Someone please take this bag of crisps away from me. I can't seem to stop eating them.

Riding in the Backseat - A JW Rule?

the jws have some peculiar rules regarding doing things with the opposite sex.

truly, the most bizzare one has to be the one about if a "brother" is driving along and he sees a "sister" waiting for a bus and he offers her a ride, in most cases he will make her sit in the backseat.

even more likely, the "sister" will turn down the ride because it may "stumble" someone who may see them together.

It wasn't a written rule, but it sure was a "suggestion" where I lived. One time, I was walking home from high school with a JW (on the fringes) friend when a MS from our hall saw us. He offered us a ride home (we lived in the same neighbourhood), which we accepted. Hell, it was a 2 mile walk. I got in so much trouble for that, and he got a talking-to as well.

How Did 1975 Affect You?

i saw my uncle sell their house..... only later to feel and look like idiots.

i remember all the buzz about the end coming around my own house.

since i was a naturally inqusitive child (the question why is not good for theocratic advancement) i was made to feel stupid for questioning, even at 7 and 8 years old.

It affected me tremendously. I was born in 1973...my parents were baptised in 75 because the end was coming. Even afterwards, they were certain it was "soon." They kept me back from school for a year because "Armageddon is coming; why should we put her in school?" So I was almost 6 when I started kindergarten. I can't say for sure, but perhaps without the 75 hype, my parents might not have ever been baptised. I might not have been raised "in the truth" if not for the hype.

Sorry to see this again.

I was tormented mercilessly for most of my school years. If I shot everyone who bullied and teased me, I'd be the world's worst mass murderer. Bullying has been around for ages; it may be a factor, but it sure isn't the CAUSE. It's another case of shifting the blame....i.e., I was abused; that doesn't give me a good excuse to abuse others.

i would willingly give my life to save my child.

i'm sure that would be the same answer for most parents, but how about those people without kids?

My husband, definitely. Other than that, I can't say for sure. I don't know how I'd react in a pressurised situation.

I am happier now than I've ever been in my life. I was never happy as a JW, something I didn't realise until I left.

Baptism pre-new questions - signed anything?

i was baptised around 1978 - don't remember the date anymore.

this was before the "organization-centered" baptism questions.

did i sign anything in order to get baptized?

I was baptised in 87. I signed a piece of paper after my baptism. It had a few questions on it (can't remember what they were). I remember asking at the time what it was for, but no one would answer me. I always wondered about that.

What kind of tree would you be?

i was reading a book on celtic beliefs.

and as the western beliefs have the zodiac; and the asians have the 12 animals who came to buddha, so the celts believe different trees represent basic characteristics in humans.. so ok which kind of tree would you be ?

Well, according to Dr. Watson up there, I'm a:

Full of charm, cheerful, gifted, without egoism, likes to draw Attention, loves life, motion, unrest and even complications, is both dependent and independent, good taste, artistic, passionate, emotional, good company, does not forgive.

Which is actually pretty true, except for the "likes to draw attention." I normally try to stay out of the spotlight.
