I missed one in the 25 years I attended the meetings. I had a very bad case of the flu, and my mum made me stay home by myself. I felt so guilty for missing it. After I started divorce proceedings, I never set foot in a KH again. Don't miss it in the least.

The film has been entered in an Internet-based film competition, at a computer ?web? site started by Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey. Out of 1,500 entries, the film was voted into the top 50 within 10 days. Judging by both Internet users and filmmakers will continue until Christmas.
Is this something we can be involved in? Can we do judging? It would be great if we could get it into the top 10.

Would you do this to your kids?
by Euphemism ina lot of cell phones now contain locator technology, either in the form of a gps transceiver, or a system based on triangulating cell towers.. some parents are using this to track their teenager's location at all times.
"before, they might not have told me the truth, but now i know they're going to," said mr. lutz, 46, a lawyer who has been particularly protective of britney and her sister, chelsea, 17, since his wife died several years ago.
"they know i care.

I don't see it as an "invasion of privacy" issue. I see it more as a protection. If something were to happen to my child, I would be able to tell police their last known location, which might narrow the search area, or make it easier to find them quickly.

Former "Elder's Wives" reactions to "brief" Elder's Meetings...............
by Sunnygal41 inladies, since maverick posted his topic, i just had to post one for us ladies!
in fact, i wanted to just share a nightmare basically on the same topic, that i had last night.............just a refresher course on my status: i was a dub for twenty-five years, met a worldly guy when i was 18 and he came in to the "truth".
we dated, then got married at 21. we were married for twenty years, then i told him i wanted to end the marriage.

Whenever an elder would get up and say that there would be a "brief" elder's meeting after the meeting, everyone laughed. They were never brief. I was not married to an elder, but my father was one. We usually tried to work out a ride home so that we wouldn't have to stick around for ages. It didn't always work.

The Society has given up on "holiday witnessing"
by dothemath in.
up until a few years ago......every dec. km had a part encouraging everyone to go in the ministry on the holidays.......christmas day, etc.. no one ever got too excited about it in our cong.
.........it was pretty much a joke to everyone even when commenting on it during the meeting part.. that no longer seems to be the case..........haven't seen any parts like this for a few years now......i guess they've given up completely.. the meeting part usually included some "fine experiences"......but i have heard exactly the opposite from some who actually tried it one time.. have any of you ever went in service on christmas day?

have. It was the one time that I really had to cringe and kind of agree when people would say, "You can't leave us alone for this one day a year?" And of course, they were none too happier when we smiled and replied' "Well, we think that of all days to talk about Jesus, this one would certainly be appropriate!" Then we would go back to the car and make cracks about how worldly people didn't even want to talk about Jesus on their own dumb holiday for him, while secretly heaving a sigh of relief that it was over.
Ditto.

Just wait five years
by Euphemism ini was just reading crisis of conscience, and i was struck by something a judicial committee said to ed dunlap.the committee urged him to "wait on the organization," saying, "who knows?
perhaps five years from now many or all of these things you are saying will be published and taught.".
it struck me because when i had my meeting with the elders, one of them said almost the exact same thing.. ironic, isn't it?

Yep, something very similar was said to me. I've also noticed that, in debating with JWs and even my own family's comments, they have all said, "But I'm happy where I am," when major discrepancies have been pointed out to them. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that something that people of other religions say/feel as well, and JWs go out of their way to say that you have to worship God how HE wants to be worshipped, and now how it makes you feel good, or your worship is in vain?

What Ways Did You Rebel Against The Elders & The "Truth"?
by minimus ini used to get a kick out of how some people used to push the elder's buttons.
sisters would wear a dress that was 1 inch above the knee just to get the brothers going.
or brothers would grow something a little longer than a mustache......what did you do to exert your independence??

leaving mid-meeting for no reason because I was bored.
Oh, I did that SOOOO many times towards the end. In fact, in the last few months of attending meetings, I don't think I ever stayed for an entire meeting, when I actually went. I was bored out of my skull.
I didn't do a whole lot of rebelling until the end, and even then, it wasn't much. I just left. I seem to remember being "sick" when I got assigned a talk with a sister I didn't like. Can't remember much else at the moment.

Don't get me started on politics. I've already alienated half the members of another board for my stance.

Movement to 'Draft" Hillary
by Guest 77 insome months ago i heard that hillary will be drafted as president at the democratic convention.
well, this is no longer a rumor.
on the hannity & colmes show last night, foxnews, this 'rumor' was confirmed to be true.. the reason for the public silence (not told on the show) but by the rumor mill, is to keep hillary on a low profile, not to create a public stir.

At first I thought this was about drafting hillary_step for something.
