Reasons for having a "Worldly" boy/girlfriend while still in?
by damselfly inwhen i was a still a teenage jw ( sounds like a bad b movie drive in flick ) i had a "worldly" boyfriend.
i didn't want anything to do with the jw's but knew i wasn't strong enough to just walk away.
he became the focus of my family's hatred and the reason they believed i left (nothing could have been farther from the truth) this helped me to avoid explantions of why i didn't believe.

Could you imagine Jesus dressed in a suit like a JW going door to door?
by JH in.
that's not the mental image i have of jesus.
i don't think that jesus pested people, and i don't think he had to be dressed better or differently from those he preached to.. .

You never read anything in the Bible about Jesus handing out scrolls to people. Hee-hee!

I no longer judge people just because they think differently than I do. I no longer pray for the destruction of billions of people.

When I asked my sister how she could play 'happy family' with my father, knowing what he did to me, she said: "We've already lost one family member. We're not losing another. You're dead to us now." *checks vital signs* Nope...still living.

I *think* it was 17 July 1987. I know it was 7/87, and that I was 13, but I often struggled to remember the day. I too never felt any overwhelming emotions; I thought I was going to feel special. Pffft.

How many of you had assembly parts?
by rebel8 ini was just remembering i had a part in an assembly part once.
i was a fresh new pioneer (who never, ever made my time, lol) just out of high school.
they gave me a brief part to say i was glad i didn't go to college and how i turned down a good job to pioneer.

I was in 2 different CA parts that I had to waste 3 weekends in a row for each. In one, when I was just a kid, I had to play a "bad" kid at the meeting, who was writing on the back of a chair while my parents had no clue what I was doing.
Then when I was 16/17, I was interviewed about my experiences as an exemplary youth in school. Oh boy, did I hope that one would snag me a cute guy. No luck. Hee-hee! -

Which bible quotes did you hate most?
by DannyBloem inprobably we all had bible quotes (mostly out of context) used against us.. .
which of these quotes did you have most?.
of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

'Honour your father and mother that it may go well with you....' blah de blah. How the hell do you honour someone who abuses you? That one got trotted out to my sister and I COUNTLESS times. Ugh.

by kid-A in.
if you wash windows for a living and own 12 suits.....you might be a jehovahs witness.... if you engage in "self-abuse" then pray 3 hours for forgiveness....you might be a jehovahs witness..... anymore?.

My Sister.
by Low-Key Lysmith inmy younger sister is coming out for a visit tomorrow.
we keep it a secret from the rest of the family because i am disfellowshipped and she's not supposed to be hanging with me.
we are just recently becoming closer as she is beginning to have her doubts about the borg, and is currently on "public reproof" status.

I wouldn't push too much, but let her know that you will be there for her no matter what she decides to do with her life. If she sees how happy you are, and knows that you won't push her one way or the other, she may feel more free to choose for herself. The old defense mechanisms drummed into her head by the JWs will not rise up so much if she doesn't feel pressured.

You say you "crave interaction." Just because you live alone doesn't mean you will always BE alone. In fact, I find it to be the opposite. Without someone at home waiting or wondering, you have freedom to come and go as you please, do whatever you want, whenever you want, with whomever you want. I loved living alone. (I am now married, and haven't lived alone for a few years.)
