"God's Purpose" rather than "God...
by VM44 inif you mention "god's plan" to a jw, an immediate response will often be "god does not.
have plans, he has a purpose".
why is this such a sensitive point with the jws?

Could you trust someone who has been sexually abus
by Jesika inabused to babysit for your children???
i was thinking about this today, in light of my son's well being, being questioned.
stats show that people who have been sexually abused go on to later abuse someone else.

I probably wouldn't, for my own peace of mind. But I was sexually abused, and I adore children. I've babysat for so many different people, and never had a problem. Of course, the parents of those kids never knew I was sexually abused. I guess I'm one of the ones who hasn't gone on to be an abuser. My husband knows of my past, and trusts me implicitly with his children (from first marriage).

The Unhospitable Elder
by minimus inwe used to have an elder in our congregation that never invited anyone to his house.he was a real moocher, though.
he was always paying a visit to the "friends" around dinner time.he was single and never had a girlfriend.
one day a couple of us went to visit him at his apartment, just to see if he would invite us in.

I love reading your threads, minimus.
There was an elder like that in our hall as well. He lived in our neighbourhood, and he would walk down to our house many times, arriving around dinner time. We were poor enough as it was, but most times, my parents invited him in for dinner. It became a running joke in our house..."Dinner time...where's Bill?"

Female Subjugation
by out4good3 ini'm aware of many couples where the man, usually the breadwinner, can no longer tolerate following the wt party line anymore.
i myself am the only breadwinner in my family and although my wife works hard to appear as the staunch jw, i never berate or hold it against her in any way as do most other men i know in similar situations.
she knows how i feel about the wt so she almost never asks my opinion on soceity related matters.. but, what of the couples where it is the woman whose fallen away but finds herself totally dependent upon her staunch jw husband for support?.

I just left. He tried all different ways of guilting me into staying with him (I left him and the truth at the same time.), including asking me what I thought my abusive father (an elder) would say about the situation.
The elders did nothing, even though he raped me, because they said it was my word against his. Well, of course. I'm not in the habit of inviting others to watch.

If You Weren't A Witness, What Would You Be Today?
by minimus inmany of us are or were witnesses because we were born into the religion.
others became witnesses because they really thought it was the truth.
so many wish that they never had a jehovah's witness come to their door or their parents' door.

I would not feel guilty any time I enjoyed something that is forbidden by JWs. I would have gone to university and actually studied what I was interested in: archaeology. I would have gotten psychological counselling earlier than I did, and perhaps not have been so messed up now.

What Excuses Did You Make For Being A Lousy JW?
by minimus inwhen the elders or other "mature ones" tried to assist you, they would ask questions like, "what's wrong?
why weren't you at the meeting?
or service?.......what good excuses did you give, when asked these types of questions?

Special Needs Talks - Did You Ever Confront?
by Stephanus in.
has anyone here ever had the balls to confront someone over a special needs talk that was obviously aimed at you?

They did one about me when I was dating my soon-to-be first husband. He wasn't yet baptised. I'm sure everyone knew it was me. I took it out on the local busybody nosey nasty sister who tried to put me in my place. Everyone heard.

Dubs Just At The Door! (After Two Year Absence!)
by Stephanus insitting at computer and hear two males talking as they come up our path.
already suspicious, but when i peep out of my crack in the curtain, i see two blokes i don't recognise, wearing long-sleeved collared shirts and ties in what is strictly t-shirt weather.
suspicion confirmed.

You love yourself, but probably without good reason.
Way to make a girl feel good about herself.
