Bit too far away for me. But I bet you'll love it. I fell in love with England the first time I visited, and made a promise then and there that I would someday live here. :)

A brother "bought" my father's window washing business (hee-hee!) and never paid for it. My father refused to pressurise him for the money, because he said that would cause problems in the congregation; i.e., not taking your brother to court. I told him he was being stupid.
And of course, there was always Shaklee, long distance phone companies, Tupperware, candles, chef stuff, etc., etc., etc. -

What do JWs think when...
by Wolfgirl in...they see things like this?.
http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-13517979,00.html.
the picture is of a church destroyed by a tornado.. now, i'm fairly ashamed of myself to admit that when i was a jw, if i had seen a photo like that, i would have felt pretty smug.

worst Bookstudy book
by darth frosty inwhat is the book you liked the least studying at the bookstudy?
for me it was the isaiah books.
side question which book did you like the best?

There were too many boring books to name a "worst," but I particularly didn't like doing the Family book. I had abusive parents, especially my mother, and to sit there reading about how happy JW families are made me so sad. I thought I was doing something wrong, and I was so lonely.
At least the Greatest Man book was easy to follow and focused on Jesus. (Not that I care now...I am agnostic.) To be honest, I preferred books that had lots of pictures. That sounds stupid coming from a fairly intelligent adult, but the pictures gave me something to do to alleviate boredom. I would study them more than anything else, and then my mind would wander. -

Other than spiritual conversations you've heard at the Kingdom Hall.
by JH in.
i remember once talking to a brother at the kingdom hall, who was a car mechanic, and i asked him a little question about my car, and he replied, we don't talk about this at the kingdom hall, meaning we should only talk about spiritual things.... .
gee, i couldn't believe what he told me, when just about everyone at the hall talks about anything butt religious stuff..

I remember getting in trouble for handing out thank you cards after my graduation party, in which I had to thank people for the little hair clips they bought me, whilst watching them lavish cars, etc., on a girl who was studying. I was annoyed coz I'd been "faithful" all my life, busting my bum, and she walked in and they treated her like royalty.

Rural Service
by buffalosrfree inrural service was always the most fun for me and my family.
we loved it.
i almost always drove out there and i mean out there from 14 to 25 miles from the hall we drove and then spent at least 1/2 of the day or all day out there in the "door to door" service.

I preferred it to city, that's for sure. Less doors. :)

Do you think you are normal?
by jwfacts ini always felt unique from everyone else.
being a jw i never quite felt like i was from the same planet as all the other school children.
as a jw i fit in, but still not quite, as i was a bit too indepentdant a thinker.
