Formal Introduction - Hi!!!
by Gustv Cintrn inbeen lurking here for yyyyyeeeeears, but was too busy with school, jw life and other interests.
now that i'm done with education for the time being anyway, plus the jw life is under pretty good control, i can spend some time and throw my views here and there in some attractive topics.. born-in, and deeply indoctrinated, but with life experience came better comprehension of my lot in life and have come to accept that, just like the family one is born into, jws are my family, friends, my ultimate and overall identity.
a jw is what i am; like the song 'hotel california', and like so many on this board, check out anytime you'd like but one could never leave.. remember like it was yesterday the failed 'the wolf is coming' calls of 1975, mid-80s, late 90's, y2k, 2004 or so, and same will be with the latest effort to get people overly excited about 'the end'.

the insanity of Sam herds talks at the convention
by purrpurr ini've picked up two that stood out to me but i'm sure others will have noticed more:.
he gave an illustration about fearing god and he said it is like a wife who has spent all day preparing the evening meal for her husband and she hears him come home and perhaps she is trembling a bit out of fear that he might not like the meal she has cooked for him....!!!!!!!!????.
the other was about verbal abuse and how it should not be used but rather than site the effect it has or the forms it can take he said that we shouldn't call each other " dumb dumb" or "knuckle head" .

I was going to say these men (GB) are hopelessly out of touch.

Decent men with the proper healthy attitude about women didnt even think that way 100 years ago,

Not invited to my nephews wedding
by outforever inknew that this would be the case - so not surprised.
quite happy to not go - as i would not like to see my mother / or my big sister at all.
this nephew is my small sisters son - my small sister and myself are very close - she does not go to the meetings anymore for quite a while now, her eyes have been opened.

outforever, I like your peaceful attitude about it but still find the whole shunning thing ridiculous.
bigmac, it sounds like you (sadly) are related to extreme shunners.
Yes, like most hard to explain beliefs, people practice shunning in degrees. Everything from "keep it on the down low" to "you are dead to me" with lots of in between.
I think shunning has caused more damage than the blood issue.

What is this new jw.org religion?
by EndofMysteries ini recently was on a trip in central america.
any kingdomhall i passed by had jw.org banners or scribble that went over what used to say kingdomhall.
in a flea market, and other business areas, i saw the infamous literature cart out.

Thank you for sharing it HardToBeMe. It is interesting to read.
It sounded like it could be true (maybe!) until I got to the part about some of the Governing Body in crisis...
I saw them at the various assemblies. They are riding high right now, if their body language and speech is any indication.
That makes me doubt the whole post above.

Maybe there is a thought you could extract from the Watchtower lesson on Sunday?
In it we learned that some who are struggling are not weak - they are just as strong - we just dont know their story.

Even those who leave the WT and see behind the curtain and the immense fraud and arrogance of the "organization" often retain, desperately in fact, the need to be "right" to "have all the answers". To correct other's thinking. Its a fear of uncertainty perhaps. The need for an anchor.
