Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

I don't think things will break down that quickly. We have Italy who has tragically gone before us and we see that food supplies remained constant and people were sad and stressed but relatively calm.
I see a lot of good happening daily in the face of what is clearly a scary time for all.

(((Hugs))) Caves!
This is a challenging time for everyone, you are not alone. Your going out into the "wild" so to speak to make a plan is a very primal response and nothing to be ashamed of.
I myself have decided to limit my intake of the news because it's not helping me. If it doesn't serve you - eliminate it.
I check a few updates like our Covid thread here and let it go at that. The media is loving the action and excitement even though I am sure as individuals they are worried also.
For the media, this Covid thing is like when a hurricane is coming. If you are a Florida TV weatherman.....its your Oscar moment!
Better to not feed my mind that junk food I think

What Is Your Favorite Decade or Time Period to Live In?
by minimus insome people say this decade is the most advantage and so they are happiest in the present.
some long for the good old days before cell phones and computers.
if you could live in an era or decade , when would it be?.

I would go further back but one question....can I take my antibiotics with me?
If so, I would have loved to live on a ranch out west after the threat of being scalped was over - around the turn of the century.

The CDC estimates influenza deaths in the U.S. this season (October 2019 - March 2020) at 24,000 to 62,000.
I think I know where you're going with this on a Covid-19 thread, but I hope I'm wrong.
I agree. The argument of how this is similar to (or needs to be handled as) the flu is an old one (if you can consider week 4 or so of an argument during a pandemic "old").
The true measure is not the death rate only. The contagion rate is a factor. The flu is like being chased by your grandma - Covid is like being chased by a Doberman.

The org is a perfect example of a non essential business that needs to shut down.

WT, and more contact, Do you think it is Narc Hoovering?
by Wakanda inthe behavior from the org lately had me a bit confused, as it seemed to fall outside of their norm.
i'm not talking the hardcore armageddon wishers texting each other about peace and security, etc.
* but, the elders contacting people daily, and having extra meetings where they have all their additional rules.

I dont know but I would love to know what the head Narcs up at headquarters are thinking right now.

Love that van idea Pete. I have always wanted to do that!
I have self isolated except for judicious shopping for supplies. I go at the crack of dawn when the store opens and not many people are around. I dont mask or glove because I want to save the masks and gloves for if needed (so far in my area it isnt).
I got tired pretty fast of the wet wipes with long chemical names and also they felt slimy and very thin plus they are overpriced and now they are non-existant!
So it was make my own time! (I'm waiting for my son, a long time prepper, to tell me he is so proud of me)
I tried a couple of different ideas before I found one I liked. I like the one below because it is 3 ingredients (one being water - easy enough) and because it has a high alcohol content.
These are so big and luxurious we all love them. I have been making them for everyone.
Here is the video with the proportions I like
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-69iYP8_28
I put mine in a plastic Folgers coffee container, make an X across the top of the lid and then fan it open and pull the first wipe through for pop up dispensing.
