The fact that there is not enough divine protection to spread across more than one Continent, would not lend credence to an all powerful protection but rather a very limited one. -

So there were ohhs and ahhs because a Bethelite got off the train just before the bomb went off?
Evidence of protection from above?
Well then! They must really be amazed at the protection given the Mormon missionary who was not only in Brussels but also in Paris when that attack happened.
He has been all over the news. He has nine lives!
How "spared" he is!
(ohh....ahhh)

CLAM - 24th March 2016 (Video Vignette)
by Nicholaus Kopernicus invideo - "use insight when comforting others"this was a wt contrived video of a sister who was widowed a year ago, and turns to members of the boe after a meeting in the kingdom hall in a distraught emotional state accompanied by suicidal thoughts.
two members of the boe saw her in her own home later that day.she conveyed that she wanted her life back - that her heart had been ripped out.
the elder acknowledges that "you and dan had a wonderful relationship".

Nicholaus, your review of the video was most excellent.
I was especially struck by what you said about how the Org puts the whole context of this topic in to a morality frame.
Grief is highly fluid and merely "shaming " a person in to thinking they have failed in an integrity test if they are overwhelmed in grief is appalling.
Then there is the fact that this video required writers, editors and researchers to make a script. Then elders who could memorize and execute that script for filming (and the end product is sill offensive).
It begs the question, how many overworked, stressed out elders are going to be able to do that in the real world?
Dont even ask about the elders who dont give a flip in the first place...

death at the 'memorial'
by eyeuse2badub ini just got the news from our former congregation in hollister, ca regarding a tragic event following the 'memorial' wednesday night.
we shared the kh with 2 spanish congos.. a couple from the spanish congregation were leaving the kh so that the next spanish congo could have their 'memorial'.
they exited the parking lot in their car when hit by an oncoming car right in front of the kh.

Exactly Diogenesister, It is reasoning on it like you did above that made me realize that JWs operate on a high level of superstition.
Of course they would call it "faith" but when a person adds in reason, it fails the litmus taste and is revealed as just plain ole superstition, pure and simple.

A few of those titles (Mormon) remind me of the glory days of the Org when there was some momentum and charisma.
That is gone now. It will take awhile to show up on local levels in a way that people can not deny. Until then they will blame "satan" the "economy"or whatever but the day is coming when there will just be too many empty seats to explain away. .

To those who attended, attendance up or down at your memorial?
by Crazyguy ininteresting to see if there's a noticeable trend in memorial attendance.
also did they talk more then usual about ones not to partake?

The only people there who were not regulars were family members goaded , guilted or cajoled in to coming for the evening.
I saw 2 "Bible studies" both elderly people sitting with a pioneer sister,

New Memorial Songs Were Very Good, IMO
by RubaDub ini guess we can agree to differ, but i personally found the new memorial songs (147, 149) to be very good, at least from a musical perspective.
.
rub a dub .

Good music played over and over homogenizes itself.
The songs sounded like background for a movie.
Not one single complaint about their technical
quality.
Unfortunately for them, that isnt what makes a person "feel" the music.
It is being able to follow the song and sing it enjoyably. It is singing the same song for years and all the nostalgia that brings with it.
Since this is the JWs only holiday and the Memorial songs were like their own "Silent Night" they really should have left it alone.
Im glad they changed it however. One more reason to NOT find Memorial nostalgic.

You are tomato sauce...
by rrb2016 inthe wife and i went to the memorial strictly out of respect for my mother-in-law last night.
luckily our 20 month-old grand-baby was restless and making noise, so i quickly volunteered to take him in the back.
so i didn't have to listen to the presentation.

Maybe they will do a broadcast on tomatoes.
Dont laugh! Did you ever think they would do one on bread?
You know, just keeping the trend going...

I lied to the elders
by atacrossroads ini stopped attending meetings all together in january 2015. before that my attendance was irregular at best.
my husband followed suit a few months ago after months of research, agony, and indecision on his part.
from the very beginning i laid low and did not share with anyone what i found out about the witnesses because i did not want to be df'd.

Ata,
We have all heard the phrase Its a jungle out there".
Well it is definitely a jungle inside the walls of a Kingdom Hall. Predatory types abound, waiting for a misstep real or imagined in which they can exercise their power.
Nature provide some amazing solutions to even the playing field though. Some hide in plain site with disguises. Others have amazing techniques they use.
The go one way and double back is a great one. Ever seen a rabbit? They do that. Squirrels, monkeys and others.
I love what you did. You were honest with your mother, Good, You doubled back and used a different technique when people preying on your spiritual well being came calling. You are so smart! I was so impressed reading your original post.
Im sorry you and your husband have the emotional issues to deal with in the first place.
If it helps you any to know this- we all do in the beginning (I stlll am in that phase myself) so you are among friends in common.
Congratulations on the baby, that is so wonderful, keep us updated!
