  About privacy on the forum

  kent and his merry followers seem to have made privacy their latest crusade and unfortunately they have decided to act in a completely irresponsible manner imho.. the forum software uses cookies to remember a users login details and can also be useful for identifying duplicate accounts.

  it is not used for anything sinister and cannot be used to identify someone - all it gives is an indication that a computer is being used by more than one username and has been invaluable in identifying trouble makers like mario kempes / yo yo mama / sexy teen / help others (asking for money) and many others.

  i believe that this is a good thing to do as i do not believe it compromises anyones privacy and does help prevent everyone wasting their time responding to people who are just "yanking our chain".. apart from the accounts that you have seen and know there are many more that you may not be aware of.

  The "High Wire Act"

  The whole demeanor of the rank& file JW is bred from a impossibly awkward & fabricated persona. The average JW has to perform a high-wire act, always afraid of falling, never able to relax. With mantras like, "This organization is God's organization",and "Jehovaha's people are a happy people", does this not put unrealistic pressure and tremendous stress on the followers when trying to conform, and "be without spot before the world"? It is a breeding ground for mental illness, no one can measure-up, you can never do enough, you are looked down upon if you don't, go out in service , make the meetings, conventions, etc., by not only your peers, but by the MIGHTY JEHOVAH himself! When problems arise it is understandable when JW's are ashamed to come foward, are they "spiritualy weak", do they want to confess infront of a TRIBUNAL? The problems tend to bottle-up and grow larger, while the self-esteem of the individual drops ever lower. Where does the individual in this situation go, they have been told that "the world" is run by Satan. When combined with such policies as, no holiday celebrations, no-blood-issue, no college, no military,etc.,etc., its easy to see how an unhappy person, now rendered a social-missfit, my see SUCIDE as the only way out, maybe they will have a chance at a resurrection?

  The rank& file JW's know they are to maintain this happy facade, how does this infulence the reporting of sucides? Its obvious, the pressure is to MINIMIZE them, therefore there, I think the numbers must be greater!

  My opinion, any others?

  New rules from WTS to restrict use of internet?

  i know of a presiding overseer who has recently got rid of the modem and internet connections on his pc.

  the reason given was that he didnt use it enough to make the monthly expense worthwhile.. but i wonder?.

  have there been any local needs items or talks recently about whether it is wise to use the internet?.

  A Newbie Introduction

  i am a "newbie" that has been "lurking" and commenting on a couple of posts over the last six months.

  i was somewhat intimidated by some of the comments on the board so i didn't feel comfortable in introducing myself.

  since simon seems to be dealing with some of the more "aggressive" posters i felt the time had come to introduce myself.
