I like the Brittish Comedies they show on PBS "Wainting for God" Keeping up appearances" They are pretty funny. Everybody Loves Raymond is funny, I can relate to that.

What do you like to watch?
by SpiceItUp inok...not that there is anything wrong with serious threads (i for one enjoy them) but i was looking through the ones today and decided i needed a bit of fluff in my day (been way too serious lately).
so my question is..even though its rerun season...what tv shows do you like to watch?.
myself - i was an avid "x-files" fan but alas they have ended the series .

Embarrassed
by WildTurkey insometimes when i think back about when i was a dub, i get a little embarrassed.
i remember telling my kids not to draw on watchtower mags (i also had to tell their mother) i was a grown man and would let nerd elders counsel me for dumb things, like saying the word luck, or bulletin board.
i remember getting to the end of the month and not having the cong average field service time and start to worry what the other elders and co would say.

When I was 16 I had a huge crush on an older "brother" who was around 26. I would say hi to him at the meetings and smile at him. He was friendly but he knew I was just a kid so he didn't push things. Well my Dad saw that I liked this guy and told him if he wanted he could date me and he would be happy if he would be his son-in-law! I could have died. I didn't want to marry the guy, I knew he was too old for me, I just thought he was cute. Poor guy could never talk to me again.

Tempering expectations to reality
by gravedancer inas one who has been reading posts this evening i find it odd that many of the xjw's here are wondering why every jw who sees a program like panorama doesn't immediately quit the cult (yes i said cult).
well its a rather obvious explanation, in my opinion.
simply put "you cannot argue against faith with facts".

When Dateline came out with the molestation cover ups I thought sure my Dad would have at least called me about it. I was molested by a "brother" and my Dad told Elders and They asked the sicko if he did it and he said no. So my Dad has first hand knowledge about this problem. I do not know how he can be so blind, I thought this would be an eye opener for him.

Yes, I went through years thinking I was good as dead and evil. It wasn't until I met my husband and we had our first child that I got over feeling so bad about myself. they gave me unconditional love that I had never had before.

At my brother's JW wedding the Elder that gave the wedding talk told my sister-in-law not to nag and to cook a nice meal when my brother comes home from work. He told my brother not to say mean things about his wife after all he picked her to marry. My non witness 80 year old Grandmother told me after the wedding "Your Bother must have said something negative about his wife because it sounded like he was getting chewed out instead of married."

Hardline on disfellowshipped ones
by eyeslice inonce again a hard line is being taken on shunning disfellowshipped and disassociated ones.
perhaps this is some sort of backlash against the recent adverse dateline publicity in the us, the forthcoming pananorama programme in the uk and problems with a number of influential ones leaving the organization.
the text below is from the august km insert and the meeting part is to be handled by a "well qualified" elder with the paragraphs being read by a "capable reader".

I wonder if this hardline includes writing a simple thank you note. My JWbrother got married a couple of months ago and all the other wordly relatives got a thank you note but me and my df mom. We both gave them checks and they were both cashed two days after the wedding. It was such a major deal for me and mom to go to his wedding and now that he is married to "Sister Pioneer " he can't even call to say thanks.

ABUSED/HARRASSED
by THERESA in; my mother is jw i was 15 years old at the time my mom would go house to house with the wife of the brother and my dad went to work sensce the morning to night this happened over the summer (by the way i never was interested in this religion i thought it was boring and i didnt accept alot of things they did) well anyways back to that summer i was at home alone mom with the sister ,dad at work and the husband of the sister hernandez went to my house told me he wanted to read me the bible we sat down on a table we had outside and started to read the bible as he read he pulled out his penis to me i was in shock and scared i ran inside the house locked everydooor when my mom got home i told her what happened and she called me a lier you acusser you have the devil in you those were her words i told my dad he did nothing sensce my mom was very controlling with him, the next several days he would call and harass me and go knock on all the windows of my house when my mom was with his wife, 5 years later i got married and my hubby and i started to study with them there was a part where the brother said that in the jw they wer clean and perfect and that nobody did anything wrong so i brought up the padst and told them my story the did a little investigation and found 5 other girls who by now were now married and they decided to do a little court and the only reason why they didnt df himn was because i could not describe his penis if it was circumsise or not at that time ididnt even know what that was now i do because i have my kids i told myself how could this religion allowed someone like this be teeling the word of god and putting god first and then doing something so terrible!
now my brother is baptised he dont talk to me anymore because i wont forget about the past and i commit to the jw well his lost .
all my life i felt that my mom never loved me.

It's amazing how she can wipe the slate clean as they say for him and not for you. I get very angry sometimes too. I have found if I just go into a room and cry and write things down on a piece of paper and just let it out , I usually feel better. I always rip up that paper as a symbol of my strength to get on with it.
Is your Mom still living in the house where sicko exposed himself to you? If it is and you are living right behind it that is like having a constant reminder. I always get nervous when I go by the apartment complex where we lived when I was molested and even though molester is dead I still associate the apartment with him.
Have you been to Silentlambs.org ? It's a good place to go when you need support about sexual abuse from JWs.
Take Care of Yourself Theresa.

When I was a kid I would never say my prayers out loud because I thought the demons would be listening too and use what I prayed about against me.

Funny thing my stepmother JW even bought a couple boxes of cookies. Maybe I should turn her in to the Elders.
