I Think Many Witnesses Have A D D
by minimus ini've done some reading about a d d lately.
i know that some young kids may be affected by this malady.
it seems to me, there are a number of older persons that are witnesses that seem to have a d d. you know those over-zealous elders, especially the service overseers?

Ya, I was diagnosed as an adult with ADHD, and there is no way in hell, you would have the gumption to become a pioneer, it was hard enough sitting through a meeting, I think you got your dis-orders mixed up minimus.

Elders Spying on JWs
by Yizuman ini hear crazy stories about elders spying on the congregational members.
i even hear of stake outs on member's homes.. anybody have any stories about elders doing crazy stuff that you have seen them do or even heard about from others?
meaning elders trying to catch members being in the wrong?.

Sounds like that elder needs to be caught outside someones window some night, by the police, or worse yet, be caught by a jelouse, non-jw husband, and have his ass kicked.

Shoot First, Ask Questions Later
by Robdar intake a look at this article.
this is what is going on in the usa while it's citizens are being distracted by rumors of war.
this is a bad, bad, thing.

Exactly Elsewhere, that's why I think this could be unlawful detainment, not a miranda rights violation.

Miranda rights only play a role, when they are actually charging you with a crime, and your in court, any evidence, like what you said, can't be used against you, if they haven't read you, your rights, this hasn't happened in this case, so I don't see how miranda rights apply. Who cares if he had a knife, they don't say what kind of knife it is. Weapons laws are so stupid in the US. For instance, in the city of seattly you can't carry a blade over 6 inchs, maybe less then that actually, might be 4 inches, don't remember. However it's perfectly legal to carry a sword. Guess how many sword welding wackos have been on the news? At least 2 that I can remember.

I don't think the miranda rights, would apply in this case, I think they would go after them for unlawful detainment, or something like that.

This story just sounds really fishy to me, since I've never heard about this case, in any news papers, or indy media, which I'm a member of, if it was, then there would be riots if it was as bad as this, and thusly making national headlines. That's why this sounds fishy. The ACLU would be all over this like white on rice. So please reference where this has been in mainstream media. Also it doesn't mention what police department, or what city it happened in, another clue that this is made up.

Fun With Email (but not if you're naive)
by COMF inin the past few days i've received three emails from sources i don't know that had .bat and .exe files attached along with a picture.
for you who don't know, these files are executable; that means, they are programs that do things.
they are the stuff viruses are made of.. how to handle this: before you open an email, look to see if it has attachments.

Newbies have no use for IP addresses. What they would be interested in, is what appears in the "from" field of their email when it comes in. So that's what I put up.
Yes, if you have adequate up-to-date virus protection, theoretically you're covered, especially if you don't open executable attached files. But many newbies don't have adequate up-to-date virus protection. Again--reread the title.
Again, on virus related e-mails, the from fields are almost never accurate, and you will just be harrasing some poor individual by e-mailing them, that has nothing to with this virus. There is always a patient Zero, anotherwards, if the virus is new, and has never been put in the virus databases, then you may become the first person to start to spread it, no matter if you have virus software or not. If you absolutely need to get attachements, then tell your friends/workers to put them in a zip file, that way you can tell when they are ligit, and not a virus going off, and e-mailing itself to all their friends.

I really liked my Dell I had for work, it survived the open roads of Utah and Arizona in the blazing heat, and off road, with a GPS hooked to it, and I liked the large screen.
