  Should Religion Be Exempt From Ethical Standards?

  i want to raise this serious question: should religion be exempt from normal societal ethical standards?.

  i'm raising this question for several reasons.

  there is a recent thread where people are arguing about whether religious confessions should be privileged communications.

  My story...

  okay, i've chatted with several of you and i thought it was time to tell my story.

  it all began during the gulf war early in january 1991. i was concerned about the war becoming the end of the world and naturally, because of my lifestyle, i began asking myself what i intended to do with my life.

  a pioneer sister worked in the office where i worked, i knew she was a witness and studied the bible so i asked her opinion on what was happening.

  Peace March around the World

  i watched the news on tv, and i saw reports of thousands of people all around the world asking for peace instead of war.

  do you think that these peace rallies will really make a difference?.

  do you think that these peace rallies will influence the president of the united states?

  200,000 at the DC rally alone, they showed a counter rally in support of war, I counted 9 people. LOL.

  we need to take into consideration that in the last election in iraq, he got 100% of the vote.

  like many dictators throughout the world, he is immensly popular.

  he probably is stockpiling weapons of mass destruction to keep them out of the hands of real bad guys.

  did any one else here catch the short lived series "firefly" on fox?

  it was kind of a western sci-fi combo and, in my opinion, the best thing to happen to tv in years.

  it was on just before "john doe" which had a some potential but quickly crapped out.

  BTW Farscape wasn't cancled because it didn't get viewers, it was cancled because of production costs, I think over a million an episode. But people are trying to get Sci-Fi to continue it. One can only hope, I think it is, probibly the best Sci-Fi show on TV right now.

  Back2dafront, what was Sept 11 the "result" of? Did you personally do something to those fanatics that justifies what they did to your countrymen? If so, I'd really be interested to know just what it was!

  What the hell does september 11th have to do with a war in iraq? There has never been any connection between saddamn, and september 11th made. Hello!

  So I guess on your way to work 2da you will not be filling your gas tank?

  What does that have to do with anything? If we were in brazil, he'd be filling his tank with alcohol, it's not our fault we have to use gas in our vehicles, I happen to own an ecenomical vehicle, if I had the money, I'd convert it over to alcohol. For your information, there is no goddamn reason we need to be dependant on oil, it's about money. There are no technical reasons to depend on oil, if you know anything about how combustion engines work, you'd know, that most vehicles can be converted to run on other fuels, very easily.

  I was going to go down, and video tape some protests, however, there aren't any in the Seattle area, instead they are having nieghborhood potlucks for peace. Ya, bush is a scumbag. It was actually amazing, at the last protest here in Seattle, I actually saw signs from republicans, denouncing this war.
