My recently told me "remember, we serve Jehovah, not men." I felt sorry for her. She does not realize that the organization is driven by the standards of men, not God.

"don't let people stumble you"
by stillin inthat's my wife's canned "encouragement" for me lately.
odd, i haven't named any people that have caused me any distress lately.
if anything, it's the organization itself, specifically the business end of it, that bothers me.. the legal posturing as concerns individual congregations actions in matters that could escalate into courtroom matters,.

“People can't do something themselves, they want to tell you that you can't do it. You want something? Go get it. Don't ever let someone tell you, you can't do something. Not even me.” - Pursuit of Happyness.
Glad the young man is living the dream an pursuing his passion. I love college basketball and will follow his career.

Are you sure leaving is a wise decision ?- Lurkers think twice- Part 2
by mankkeli inin the previous thread of this series, i called lurkers attention to the need of being discreet when contemplating an exit from the jw religion.
i mentioned that the thread was borne as a result of the general observations i made reading old posts here and discussing with many ex-jws and their lives have gradually turned out.
that thread alone was visited more than 2,980 times and graced with 204 contributions.

Mankeli...I wish I could get back the 30 minutes of life I wasted trying to read and understand your point. If anyone needs someone else to tell them what to do to be happy and to valiate there decisions they are already lost and they will never be truly happy no matter how much they tell themselves they are. It's funny to me that if people can't do something themselves they have to try and prevent others from doing what they want. Seems to me you are looking for a flock to control. Good luck with that.

Please dont be guilty of committing the sins you have indicted the WatchTower of
by mankkeli inplease dont be guilty of the sins you have indicted the wt of commiting.
something is common to all on this discussion board, we are quick at castigating the watchtower.
although, i understand your reasons for doing so, but i will warn you not to be guilt of the same offense the wt had committed.

What really ended the book study in private homes?
by Alfred init's been over 3 years since the book study in private homes was discontinued and some jws are still scratching their heads over it.
although a letter was read to all congregations explaining that "book study night" would now be "family worship night", there was still much speculation among jws as to the real reason behind this decision (the great tribulation was about to start, jehovah was simplifying the lives of jws, to lessen the burden of poor jws who had no money for gas, etc.)...
but as we all know, decisions like these from the gb invariably have some ulterior motive behind it... and discussion boards such as this one usually finds a way to dig up the truth for all to see... but after reading several threads on this subject, i'm really not sure we've uncovered all the facts yet.... so i have to ask... what do you believe really ended the book study in private homes?

The bookstudy ended because publishers in the US whined about the price of gas. Folks in other countries have paid high gas prices for years. But when the folks in the US suffer, something HAS to be done. The bookstudy ended because folks in the US were not supporting it and never would.
Everything in the organization is driven by what happens in the US. This is really and truly an American religion. To believe anything else is delusional and naive.

Is this an anti-JW website?
by keyser soze inwhen i registered here over 4 years ago i thought it would be a good place to interact with like-minded christians who loved jehovah as much as i do.
but after reading some of the posts on here i'm beginning to believe that the sentiment on here is largely anti-witness.
i justed wanted to tell you all what vile and hateful people you are..

@KEYSER...I am sorry but how STUPID can you be? This is the kind of site you are warned to AVOID! How can you call us vile when you are not even supposed to be here! I am tired of active Witnesses coming here and judging. If you don't like the forum, then follow the orders of your masters and STAY THE HELL AWAY! You are in VIOLATION of your orders you SELF-RIGHTEOUS HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!!!
OK...I feel better now.

In that light, I don't wonder about... or even fear... my eventual demise: I will either die (and possibly be resurrected to life)... or not die at all (but be changed). Or... I will die and nothing will occur afterward. In either scenario, what is there to wonder about? What is there to fear? Que sera, sera...
Amen.

Marry Only in the Lord

another pursued her .
with real intent, a burning zeal.

It works in reverse too. I married a trophy wife, a JW pioneer sister. I wanted to be a Circuit Overseer and sje was from a prominent four generation witness family. She initially had the same goals I did. Mistake!
We are going through divorce now and I could not be happier!

Christians Please Explain
by AK - Jeff insince leaving all organized religion, all superstition, all acceptance of deity, i have a terrible time truly understanding 'religious' thought.. i really do.. how is it possible for thinking people to just accept, without proof, all they accept?
this morning i overheard a conversation between two christians in a coffee shop.
they say to me 'dad, what's wrong with just being a nice, good person?

Interesting thread. I want to believe in a higher power. But I still see no evidence of one outside of my belief (I have no real evidence as per the scientific method) in intelligent design. Why does he not show himself? Why give us cryptic books that only self-appointed, selected humans can understand? Why point us to charismatic individuals who are now dead? Why? Why? Why? Why?
Very, Very frustrating. Can you tell?
