  the down side of having a name like raveen is that names don't mean anything to me.

  all people become nothing... any odd name people undesrsand?

  i was called she... you... not my name for most of my life... that made me not care what your name was.... so i don't know people i want to know!!!

  I'm Eliza not pronounced the english way like Eliza Dolittle. My mom doesn't speak english and she thought it would be pronounce Eh-lee-za since in spanish the I is pronounced like the english long E.

  well since there is no "betting" (as it reeks of gambling) in jdub land, lets place a friendly wager on what will happen to me when i go to my father's "memorial" service at the kingdome hall this saturday..... to give you newbies background info: i am neither df'd or da'd- i left 2 years ago with no explanation.

  i have been hounded by elders in my cong because they have suspicions that i am living with a man, but they have no proof (well, no proof in jdub land- you know...two witness rule).

  after many attempts to get me to meet with them- i finally sent the elders a "cease & desist" letter after one of them spied in my miniblinds to see me eating breakfast with someone (they couldn't identify who).

  Again I am sorry for your loss. I'm also soryy you have to deal with this crap during your grieving time.

  CHG If we were in the same cong. My family would have paid occasional visits & phone calls throughout the past 2 years. That's what made my husband & I different we did our best to find those missing and offer a listening ear.

  At memorials I always got looked at wrong because I would speak & hug all the family including df'd. I felt this was always my chance to get away with being human.

  As for the zombies it's B & C. The elders will show concern in hopes of laying the foundation to pry into your life.

  The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth - Matt 5:5 anyone?

  on another thread concernedjw used an interesting quote from jesus at matt 5:5 'the meek shall inherit the earth.

  ' fair comment i'd say.

  but jesus didn't say 'paradise' earth.. now i know some of you don't believe in the bible (which i respect), and i'm not after a debate.. what i'm interested to hear is how you would refyte that jesus was not talking about a jw 'paradise earth'.

  I've been asking this question also. Inheriting a paradise earth appealed to me since I wondered what is the purpose for the earth before becoming a JW.I'm interested to see how others view this as I am still learning.

  I came across this explanation in the Christian Courier :

  (1) God is the owner of this earth (Psalm 24:1).

  (2) Those who obey Christ become children of God (Galatians 3:27; Hebrews 5:9), and “joint-heirs” with the Lord (Romans 8:17).

  (3) The Father supplies all our needs (Philippians 4:19), we therefore enjoy this earth and its blessings more than all others.

  Abusive Families Drawn Like Moths to a Flame or Does WTS Help Develop Abusive Attitude?

  so many ex-jw's are stepping forward here and other places and relaying information about their upbringing in the jw's being an abusive one.. we have the two types of abuse- physical and sexual.

  i thought i would give a chance to everyone to ponder on what's up with the high levels within watchtower congregations.

  i know the subject has been covered before, but some fresh voices and some new readers might want to know that they are not the freak, not the problem in their family, not alone, able to relate to others.. as far as physical abuse goes, i consider the attitude of wts that is passed on- beat the littlest of children in order to keep them quiet during meetings.

  Since JW worship God outwardly they are corrupted & twisted inside. Jesus said (Matthew 23:25-28) 25 “Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of plunder and immoderateness. 26 Blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that the outside of it also may become clean. 27 “Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU resemble whitewashed graves, which outwardly indeed appear beautiful but inside are full of dead men’s bones and of every sort of uncleanness. 28 In that way YOU also, outwardly indeed, appear righteous to men, but inside YOU are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

  again tonite i was visited by two elders to see what attitue i have toward the congregation.. i told them that through research i had found a number of things that i simply do not believe and was told that it was a matter for prayer and that jehovah would reveal it all to me.. good advice but what if jehovah is telling me to "get out" and is showing me that one by one he is showing people the truth as he did with ctrussell.

  what if jehovah is "spitting out" those who claim to be his slave class?.

  i was told that jehovah does not use individuals to reveal truth to, which made no sense, what about the apostle paul etc and more importantly wasn't russell an individual?.

  I was told read the psalms, let my mind go blank, stop all the research and pray for peace. Satan is waging war with me and using the lure of apostasy to make a holy one fall. He told me that as one of the anointed & a sister I was to be foremost in humility & obedience. Insight into matters was not my privilege.

  an active witness on fb just told me that they are taught to "always question what we are taught" and use not only the wt publications, but any research materials, and come to a conclusion about what they find!

  this is not what i've heard from you guys!

  does she go to some unusual-type kingdom hall, or is she mesing with my mind?.

  When I spoke to the elders about my research and carefully examining the scripture I was told not to think too much. Pray for peace of mind, let it go blank. Stick to reading Psalms when other Bible books stir up questions.When I presented other christian books I was reading the an elder said that it's garbage they only write for profit so it can't be trusted and they probably plagiarized the material from WT literature.

  this is a partial video of the morning breakfast table in brooklyn bethel in the late 80s, with lyman swingle hosting... the governing body member who at first tried to shelter ray franz from disfellowshipping, but then within a year or two his spirit was broken and he was a bitter man.. randy (i was there and it was death-dealing, like the death eaters from harry potter!).
