My mother and sister have been dropping the same comments to me trying to "save" me before armageddon gets here. I've had the hardest time biting my tongue.

What My JW Family Members say....is this typical?
by dins ini went to see my grandmother today, who has been a jw pioneer for going on 60 years and is still pioneering.
this is what she told me.. she said that they had their one-day assembly yesterday and that attendance was high.
she said that there was someone there from bethel in ny, who told everyone his experience of the attack on tuesday.

In my old hall a "brother" had grown a beard. His priveldges were immediately revoked until the CO came and they talked. The CO made him a ministerial servant and he was allowed to keep the beard.

I agree with BBoy it's something that anyone can learn. It takes lots of practice and plenty of patience for some others it's very natural and comes quickly without much work at all. It's amazing what the brain is capable of and it's amazing to think of what mankind could accomplish if we were all at a higher level of thinking and abilities.

Best quote in a movie sums it up for me, "I had a girlfriend named Faith once. She cheated on me with a girl named Chastity."

How about something from Deicide or the ever popular Anti-Christ Superstar, Marilyn Manson.

Ex-JW atheists
by Vienna ini know there are lots of atheists on the board, so i'm curious what attracted you to becoming a jw in the beginning.
personally, i feel a bond with all ex-jws (and to those of you doubting) since we have gone through the same things.
so my question is not being sarastic, but i'm curious as to why you are where you are.

I have to agree with Chuck D. Growing up as a JW I never had the choice and when I finally did leave the witnesses instead of just joining a church I had to discover for myself what I really believed in. After much research I came to the conclusion that Jesus never really existed. The story was an allegory for the ancient Pagan Mysteries blown out of purportion by the early christians. I have a hard time believing that any type of god exists now. As much as I really would like to, I don't believe I ever will.

Most hated Rules and Regulations
by Bendrr inthe thread about "clinking" got me to thinking.. what were the rules you hated most?
rules that were just so boneheaded as to be infuriating.. there are so many rules and regulations to follow as a dub.
some rules may not even be able to be referenced in the publications, at least not firmly and clearly.

I absolutely hated the camo rule along with "good witnesses go out in service on weekends", my only damn days off. I also hated the chaperone rule. The reason that JW marriages are so screwed up is because the two people can't talk about anything with someone sitting in between them.
