I'm am sad when I see JW go from one religion to just another. There is no God.
At least not the God as we know it, and science has debunked every single claim in the Bible...
Reality and mortality is too scary for some... alas.
Here is an article about that:

Losing Faith in Faith..
by Dis-Member ini came across this lecture at 3am not being able to sleep by dan baker.
it details his transition from christian fundamentalist to atheist and the various shades in-between.
he realises that every denomination of christian can open the bible and prove to you that they have the right interpretation and everyone else is wrong.

?? Question for those that have successfully faded/are out:
by Darth Fader The Sequel inquestion: can any of you that have successfully faded out of the jw world without being df'd or da'd relate to me/us how you were able to maintain at least one or a few of your "still in" friends or family?
(and even if you were df'd or da'd and still maintained some relationships, how did that go?).
obviously, the truly demented, sick and twisted (and highly effective) policies and structure of the wtbt$ to set up a system by which anyone that chooses to no longer believe or participate must be treated as "mentally diseased" and a pariah by their own friends and family is the hands down, numero uno reason why many hundreds of thousands and possibly millions of jw's do not leave.

I successfully faded from the borg. I'll leave out the family explosion that followed. It's standard shit.
I used depression as an excuse to slow down, then pretended I would come back when elders asked.
Then — and this is how I explain my success — I moved. From NY to AZ… the rest was just staying put and not returning calls from elders etc…
It’s been 7 years. Never been DFed although I am a very publicly vocal exJW-atheist.
Go figure.
The main thing is to move in my opinion.
The good news is that 7 of my best friends in the NY congregation also left. -

Richard Dawkins defends mild pedophilia, says it does not cause lasting harm

"I doubt someone who genuinely believes in god could or would answer my question truthfully. All gods are creations of man and there is no evidence otherwise."
Well said. ALL evidence points to man making god in his image and not the contrary. To the eternal old argument that us atheists cannot PROVE there is no god — my answer depends on what we mean by “God”:1) If we are talking about an intelligent god-like intelligent force out there — true, I cannot prove the negative.
2) If we are talking about any man-made folkloric “gods” of our different cultures, like the Christian God, then yes! — I CAN prove beyond any reasonable doubt that He does NOT exist!
~~~~~~~~
There are 3 ways to dismiss this god alleged to be omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent:
A) His character has all the flaws of man: Jealousy, vengeance, elitist, sectarian, prone to ethnic-cleansing/genocide, has regrets, an inflated ego and need for adulation, unforgiving unless blood is shed, and more… NOTHING of an omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent God.
B) The book God is credited to have inspired; the Bible ONLY represents the knowledge and ignorance of the time: Earth is the center of the solar system; God creates vegetation before the sun; flat earth (no hint of it being spherical); Epilepsy is thought demon possession; Killing two birds and smearing the blood on the walls of a house will cure leprosy; man is only 6,000 years old and ruined all life because of listening to a talking snake. No mention of Natural Selection (not even so-called microevolution), electricity… and more!
It is supposed to be a prophetic book, yet makes no hints on the age of technology, nor the uniting of the whole world thru the internet. Not ONE hint!C) Given that the only reason the concept of God exists in our collective minds is because it originates from scriptures like the Bible, a self-crediting and flawed collection of books — there is no logic nor evidence to claim the main character as real.
~~~~~~~~~ There you go. All we have left are rationalizations. GOD (as we typically understand it) DOES NOT EXIST.
Not only is there no evidence for him — there is evidence AGAINST him.
I challenge anyone to prove this wrong.

Praise For Witnesses On Welfare Who Full Time Pioneer!
by minimus inthe watchtower has always praised witnesses who are on welfare and decided to pioneer.
many in my congregation, including my mom, were given kudos, praise and assembly parts because they took advantage of jehovah's provision through the government....did you notice this, or was it obvious to me because i was raised in the inner city and many people recieved government help?.

They always have done that — starting by praising the kids that dropped out of college/school and pioneered on their parent's shoulders.
They are socially fucking toxic!!! -

Boy, do I agree with the rambling thing. Worse are their ridiculously far-fetched videos on subliminal art!
It's a shame really — takes away all their credibility.
Ramble on folks. I rather stick needles in my eyes. -

I swear I try. My bipolarism WILL flare up in the presence of stupidity though.
I'm sick and tired of prancing around this idiotic and toxic confidence in this corporate cult!
I will NOT be gagged by the superstition of demonized inquiry the the Borg imposes on the weak .
I do NOT want to explode anymore... hence, my family is dead to me. Period. -

What Can An Incorporated Congregation Of Jehovah Witnesses Do To Keep Ownership Of Their Kingdom And Not Let The Watchtower Corporation Sell It Off To Pay Child Molestation Lawsuits?
by frankiespeakin inwhat's your ideas?.
is their some loophole in the very structured bylaws of an incorporated congregation of jehovah's witnesses that will allow them to retain property rights and avoid a hostile take over by the mother corporation controled by the governing body aka faithful and discreet slave entity?.

I'm wondering if the past incentive to build a KH — with all the excitement and joy to build and gather the funds by themselves, and the justified local pride that went with it — will simply erode for good. There is no incentive anymore. It's all in the hands of the corporation. No freedom; nothing!
My guess is that more and more will be unhappy to serve corporate instead of God... -

Is sex abuse in the Wt that big of a problem
by joe134cd inbefore i start, i'm not a wt apologist and i am certainly not trying to minimise sex abuse.
i was looking at the amount of sex abuse cases in light of witness population.
just say wt ended up on paying out on 30,000 individual abuse cases.

Bottom line:
Even just ONE case handled like the WTS handles it is scandelously too much — considering that from their perspective, THEY have God's blessing.
Sorry joe134cd, but you are looking at this from a very skewed perspective.
