by JH in.

This picture is priceless! This is a picture of my little brother and I at the 1985 Integrity Keepers Convention in Louisville, Kentucky (see, I am even wearing my badge)
This picture was taken at the Norwood, Ohio Quickbuild (I am on the far right holding the cup)
This is a picture of my oldest brother while he was home visiting from Bethel and some of his friends that came with him. I am not sure who the guys on the right are, but this picture was taken the summer of 1985. My little brothers and sister are the ones climbing all over them! Does anyone know who these guys are?
I have so many pictures of when I was a teenager that I couldn't begin to post them all!

My mother (coldhearted JW she is)
by YellowLab inthis is really bothering me, and i have a need to vent.
is it normal for grandparents to not take an active interest in their grandchildren?
my mother is still a dub, and i faded away about seven years ago.

My Mother didn't particularly like children, but she liked babies. So, while she kept on having babies, and liked them til they were two, she'd pass em on to me to raise afterwards.
This was my mom too, she loved babies... except she passed them on to my dad who didn't seem to mind at all....my dad was a great dad and spent a lot of time with us. I did have to do alot of babysitting though, since I was the second oldest of seven.

Did they overlook you?
by JH inwith all the talking about visiting inactive ones, i wonder how many inactive people have not been visited yet?
if you weren't visited yet, could it be because they df'd you, and you don't know about it?

I have never been visited since I faded away over 7 years ago. The elders did come visit my (now x)husband and I ONCE when we became inactive six months before we divorced. Once we were divorced, I didn't hear from anyone except a couple of close friends. Quite ironic since my parents are still active and we were well know in our circuit. My mother recently told me that people weren't surprized that I left the Borg because of my associations when I was going (most of whom are pioneers, MS and elders now)...didn't understand that comment.
My mother still believes I left because I never really knew the "truth"...despite the fact that I was a pioneer for many years. It is funny how JWs rationalize why people leave! I have told her, more times than I can count, that I think JWs are a "false religion", "false prophets" and that they outright lie...she still thinks I just don't want to follow the "guidelines the Bible sets out" and that I just want to do what I want to do.
I actually have a lot of x-JW friends and none of them have ever been visited as far as I know. Do you think that once they know you are "apostate" that they don't even try?

We must be related!
I don't know how "normal" it is, but my JW mother treats my children indifferent and has always made it well known that she doesn't babysit.
She recently told me that it is hard for her to get close to her (6)grandchildren that are not JWs because she doesn't want to get to close to them and then they be destroyed at Armaggedon. Yet she is very close to my JW sister and her children and spends a lot of time with them, even driving two hours(each way) on a regular basis to see them.
I have learned over the years to not let it bother me...I can't MAKE her want to spend time with her grandchildren. My husband's Baptist parents aren't much better, so I think it is more a "bad" grandparent syndrome than a JW thing (even though I don't think being a JW helps the matter).

The break between meetings
by freedom96 inwhen i was a young child, i remember there being a small break between the meetings.
you could get up, walk around, associate, and then go back in for the second half.
at some point, they changed it to where there was just the song.

I remember the break between the meetings in the mid 70's. They would actually have snacks and drinks at our Hall. I also remember a REAL piano being played for the song instead of the tapes.

by Intuit39 incalling all ex's!
looks like tomorrow will be another great meetup.
interest had faltered over the last couple of months, but i think that was mainly due to the venues offered as choices.
