Can we forgive our parents??????????

guess this kind of goes with the other thread i started about looking at the inner child that is still hurtingk by posting a pic of us when we where kids.. i found this pic of my parents, my mom was just 15,,,,,my dad barely 18, shortly after , they married soon and i was born when my my was just 16. .

just looking at their faces in this moment in time, in this picture, i can see , that they were just kids too, that they were not ready to face the hardships of starting a family so soon.

i am not making excuses for the things they both did,,,,,,,,,,, they both did many things to hurt me.

Forgive? Yes, of course, we love our parents, and could never our backs on that. But the things I was exposed to as a child I can't forget. Perhaps it is human nature to forgive only partially, because how can you forgive if you rehash the mistakes? Life wasn't horrible, all parents screw up and make mistakes, just some things are a wee bit too big to to hide, like an overwieght elephant in your kid's closet. But who knows. I have been wrong plenty before.

Post a pic of the child that you were,,,,,,,,,,in honor of healing

most of you know that i have moved back to my old house, and in the process, had lots of boxes to go thru.

i have found so many treasured moments of my life, things like my kids, my family, etc.. for just a couple of hours lately i have been putting alot of my pictures when i was young on my personal file, just because they are the only copies i have of them.. i heard it once said that when you have pain in your past , your childhood, that you should look at that picture of the 8 or 9 year old you once were and enbrace her,, or him.

i have done that, and i can tell you it opens the door to so much healing, so much compassion for yourself, something that you as an adult really need to move on.
