  anyone else ever feel like this??

  i've been mulling over this and i'm finding that its common with several of my extended family who were raised in the org.

  - seems that the feeling of never doing enough for the org.

  ( to obtain a place in the "new system" ) has spilled over into other areas of our lives.

  Inferiority complex

  The term "inferiority complex" was coined by a French psychologist in the 1920's Alfred Adler, a former follower of Sigmund Freud that became disenchanted Freud's therioies on the influence of unconscious factors as motivators in human behavior. According to Adler, all humans experience feelings of inferiority as children and spend the rest of their lives trying to compensate for those feelings.

  As people move into adulthood, these feelings persist in varying intensity in different people. For some people, it serves as a positive motivating factor. Some, however, become dominated and crippled by an overwhelming sense of inadequacy. These people, whose thoughts are so overtaken with these feelings and interfering with normal daily life are said to have an inferiority complex.

  Symptoms: Avoidant Personality Disorder

  This disorder is characterized by a long-standing and complex pattern of feelings of inadequacy, extreme sensitivity to what other people think about them, and social inhibition. It typically manifests itself by early adulthood and includes a majority of the following symptoms:

  Avoids occupational activities that involve significant interpersonal contact, because of fears of criticism, disapproval, or rejection.

  Is unwilling to get involved with people unless certain of being liked.

  Shows restraint within intimate relationships because of the fear of being shamed.

  Preoccupied with being criticized or rejected in social situations .

  Inhibited in new interpersonal situations because of feelings of inadequacy.
  
  Views self as socially inept, personally unappealing, or inferior to others.
  
  Is unusually reluctant to take personal risks or to engage in any new activities because they may prove embarrassing.

  OK all - if you have any of these problems - which I assume many do, it may be time to seek professional help depending on the degree of this situation's effect on your life and loved ones. It is not something to take lightly. As you can see, many JW's rasied in it as children could suffer from such problems.

  what wonderful people there are here and how i have rejoiced in our spirits joining.. i have, as i said, given up.

  i am disconnecting from this board and from a number of other things in my life.. i am staying connected to mitch.

  Billygoat - I appreciate your comments but I fail to see how I have grown up in the last few weeks. I used to speak my mind - and I still have the same thoughts and feelings, I just choose to no longer share them because people here fail to understand where I am coming from. Also, you attract more flys with honey or so the saying goes.

  Joelbear - I knew what you meant, Simon is NOT evil, but there are many nasty posters here that attack without cause or create arguments simply for arguments sake. But, you have accomplished more than you think, because you have encouraged many persons (like me) to look at the brighter side of things. You will be missed, although I hope you do post once in a blue moon.

  Maybe it's not Joel's battle to fight - a very loving person once told me that personal beliefs should be accompanied by responsibility and often times we has humans forget that.

  I am guilty of feeling that with my personal freedom it allows me to say what is on my mind without regards to the feelings of others, although sometimes with this it is hard to face the responsibility for my actions - even when I feel it is justified because I was attacked or people I care about were attacked. Anger and lashing out is inappropriate and hurtful and "feeding the trolls" just adds fuel to the fire. His goodbye post is proof positive that there are some on this board who are so negative their sole purpose is to tear down and not up build.

  Did we forget why we all came here? We came here to find solace within each other as a group of people who needed one another. Instead, many have turned bitter, and I have been guilty of that a time or two myself. What does bickering really solve? Nothing at all.

  Joel -

  I understand your feelings and reasons, although you do not need our approval or understanding to leave. You are leaving for your best interests, and I bet it was not that easy.

  I understand what you mean when you say the board is evil. I don't believe in demons in the traditional sense either, but many persons here are hurt in a way many people would never understand and I feel this is the reason why many of us are the way we are.

  I hope you find what you are looking for, please know you have encouraged me to do the same. I will miss you very much.

  Fact finding for You Knows Apostasy!

  lets play a game!.

  let make beleive that this post is headed by elders from you know congregation, and they have heard rumors about you know apostasy, but before they can get a committee together the need solid facts that you know is truly an apostate.. the poster can play either the part of elders who are investigating, or that of a loyal jws bringing facts to the elders attention about this matter.. i think this could be fun, or i maybe totally wrong and nobody wants to play this game.. we might even get enough facts together to form a committee and disfellowship him (in our game).

  i'll defend your right to say it, but it doesn't mean i beleive it.

  Tracy's Take on Bush's Speech

  tonight, my wife tracy (think41self) and i were talking about president bush's address to the nation.

  i was reflecting on the demands bush put on the taliban, such as giving up any terrorists they are harboring, closing down training camps, etc.

  at this point tracy summarized bush's demands quite succinctly in her own unique way.

  ok so i hear from my bro, that he hears the fbi is saying somthing might happen on the 22nd.

  the other day there were several low flying planes around the nuclear station in our area.

  they were unknown, and there was not to be any schedualed flights at the time in the area.

  just wanted to let you know i had a very heated converstion with my father last night.

  he told me about some jw children who <<<<gasp>>>>> are in college on full scholarships.. i kindly asked him to refrain from discussing the subject with me as it was a sore one, but he wouldn't let it go.

  therefore, i felt it necessary to speak from the heart and tell him how much i resented hearing about the subject when i couldn't even get either of my parents signatures on scholarship/financial aid/ loan forms.. therefore, we entered into a very heated but loving discussion re:whether or not the society ever said "don't go to college.
