  my sister in-law is a 10th grade honors student.

  she is 14 and currently enrolled in english ii - a required course.

  she and her fellow students are studing the holocaust in thier honors english class.. the teacher has instructed them to do the following:.

  Honors Class. Many of the students are having nightmares and have been seen crying. The teacher instructed them that they have to watch the videos mentioned above, as it is required to take notes on them and use these notes to pass a future exam. Has this world become such a violent place that young students at the ages of 14 and some 15, who barely understand who they are in life, have to be subjected to such violence?

  And a baby being impaled on a pitch fork? These kids can't even drive yet.

  Study of the Holocaust may be an excellent educational point, but no child should be forced to experience or even come across live documentation of innocent people, including children, being executed. This is not the movies, this is real live death of innocent people. If this teacher, Ms. Cindy Jenkins, feels this is a topic that must be discussed in order to create empathy in the students, then she needs to approach it from an entirely different angle. There is enough going on in the world with the current tragic events than to subject a child to this.

  My sister in-law is a 10th grade Honors student. She is 14 and currently enrolled in English II - a required course. She and her fellow students are studing the Holocaust in thier Honors English class.

  The teacher has instructed them to do the following:

  Watch 3 videos to date depicting Nazi executions, including the deaths of men, women and children by gas, firing squads, and one that particularly bothers me a small child being taken away from their parents, tossed back and forth in the air to die by being impaled on a pitch fork.

  Read a book with graphic violence and death.

  Write a composition based upon the students placing themselves in a box car during the Holocaust on their way to a concentration camp to be executed. They are required to write about how they feel.

  My sister-in-law and her friends have requested to not watch the videos depicting such graphic violence because they are having nightmares. The teacher instructed them that they have to as it is required to take notes and pass a future exam.

  I have phoned the Principal of the school, a local newspaper and a local TV News company. I feel no 14 - 15 year old child should have to be subjected to witnessing live executions, let alone to call it an English class. What on earth does this have to do with an English class? An since when are young kids supposed to watch live footage of even small children being executed by the Nazis?

  By the way, the school has a Website - It's Lehigh Senior High School. The website is http://www.lee.k12.fl.us/schools/lsh/ and her teacher is a woman by the name of Ms. Cindy Jenkins, room number 3212. Please feel free to file a complaint.

  Why the Dinosaur in the Green NWT Bible?

  bibles is a map, and in the map is a drawing of a dinosaur.. does anyone know why the dinosaur is there?.

  this is something i have actually wondered about for years.. perhaps someone here might know the answer.. --vm44

  If you look at the "My Book of Bible Stories," you will note a picture of a dinosaur type creature drowning in the flood. Wish I had a scanner.

  Anyhow, when I was little I asked my mother if the dinosaurs were destroyed in the flood and my mom said yes, seeing on how that was what that picture depicted. Silly, seeing on how the bible said to bring 2 of each kind...

  I used to, but not anymore. They constantly make changes and the fact that they have been wrong so many times makes them like any other religion.

  Jesus says to not fear those who make a false prophecy -- let alone many. They named a date of 1914 then 1975 and they were wrong twice. I have no doubt in my mind that the JW religion is all hogwash.

  Best assembly for girls

  so when you were a teenager and it was assembly time which convention did you go to, to go bird watching?.

  there were always rumors of the magical convestion someware where all the girls were lookers and were eager to meet young brothers.. did you all go to the pub after , whats the biggest crowd you ever saw after the covention in a pub.. once there were over a hundred of us crowding the locals out.. got any stories

  Being a former JW has taught me many lessons in life. Beyond speaking abilities and the like, I have learned a huge life lesson.

  1. It has taught me to live a life with high morals and self-respect.
  2. It has taught me to not believe everything you hear, no matter how convincing it may seem.
  3. It has taught me that I do not need to answer to anyone but myself.
  4. It has taught me to never judge others simply based on personal opinion.
  5. It has taught me strength and perseverance.
  6. It has taught me not to care about what others think.

  Most importantly:
  It has taught me the best gift in life is personal freedom. Freedom to be who I am and freedom of who I want to be and do.

  religious JW threatens with anthrax

  this was a news article dated october 17th, but i didn't see it posted so here goes:.

  a "very religious" jehovah's witness in norwalk connecticut, facing bankruptcy and realizing that armageddon wasn't coming soon enough, decided to speed it up by calling 911 and threatening to "dust" government buildings with anthrax.

  norwalk man detained for threat .

  ever been in a situation where you start to feel a certain affinity with a poster?.

  i have, quite recently i began to take particular notice of one posters writings, and i thought to myself - 'that fella has got his head screwed on!'.

  a week or so later said "fella" made a reference to her husband!
