Lovely article, not filled with malice. But rather a sadness that the majority of us feel regarding the time wasted in life, lack of friends outside the organization, alienation from family, a loss of our culture.

Can you take someone with you in Judicial Committee?
by zound ini've heard of a couple of cases of a person being present (maybe wife, or friend) for support at judicial committees - is this commonly accepted by the elder committee or is it just a rarity?.

Has anyone going/been to Oberamagau??
by quellycatface into watch the "passion play"?
i have visited the town near christmas time and it's gorgeously decorated etc..... wondered if anyone went to see the famous play at all.. just a little bit of information as well.
councillors in oxford recently, banned the reinactment of this play, as the thought it was going to be a sex show.

Your Experience with Resigning as an Elder
by committeechairman ini'm considering resigning as an elder.
i'm not planning to fade or stop as one of jehovah's witnesses, just stop serving as an elder.. i have responsibility in the congregation and in circuit, district, rbc, etc.
and i'm completely exhausted.

Often the WTBTS uses the old testiment to shore up their take on things. Yet, they ignore the scriptures that show men in charge of the spirituality of the Israelites were PAID to perform at the temple, so they wouldn't have to make a living and MINISTER. It was the same way when Jesus was on earth. While he did away with Mosaic Law, the principle of not overworking the minister stands. It would make life so much easier if the WTBTS would simply pay the elders. Of course, they would never part with any money.

Essay by Barbara Anderson: "What's in a Name?"

Barbara, thank you for the very informative article. Another note: the Borg is also stressing those crazy carts! I saw one on a pier in San Diego. Talk about crazy! Everyone else was walking around in shorts, bathing suits or other beach attire and the 'brother & sister' manning the cart were dressing in meeting attire. They looked like ridiculous weirdos. Would you talk to a person at the beach that was dressed in a suit and tie? Didn't think so, no one else was either. There was also a cart at the airport, which was also being ignored by passers-by. Yet, they must be having minor success with this method to keep pushing it.

So Spill the Beans, Brothers: Were There More or Fewer At this Year's Bore-Fest
by steve2 inthe jw date-worshipped memorial has just completed its bleak worldwide commemoration.
that wasn't a dust cloud you saw; it was a millionfold hearts limply beating themselves into another round of great tribulation expectations.
i was knocked into a deep, deep sleep by the imagined experience of being at several thousand consecutive kingdom halls as the platformed drones spat forth the predictable sludge that, once released, hits and stains white clothing and bleach is useless.. we know that memorial attendance worldwide has dipped for two consecutive years since 2011 when it reached a high of 19,374,737 and for the promised land, obama's usa, the all time memorial attendance high was also 2011 when it hit over 2.5million (2,563,518) but shrunk in shame back to 2,502,055 in 2012 and spluttered upwards a handful or two to 2,504,114 last year.. so, what was attendance at the date-obsessed bore-fest this year in your neck of the woods?

Fewer, lots of empty seats and they didn't set up that many more chairs. My kid commented that it seemed like a well attended Sunday meeting, not like the Memorial.
