"Deep Down , He Knows That It is The Truth"
by BluesBrother inthis phrase i heard again at the weekend when a diehard dub was discussing his non believing, but much loved son.
"it is just that..... [insert any excuse here].
it is something that they all say about us, yet nothing could be further from the truth.

Ran into some JW's.......but this time I did the teaching ;) x
by snare&racket inso i went out today with my broken leg and got accosted by an old lady, with some magazines.. it was my first ever encounter with a jw in ten years, and i had said 'i know you are jw's, i'm not interested thank you.
" twice.....then she started talking about my broken leg and how wonderful we are made and how amazing the healing process is.... and that's when it all started...."i used to be a bethelite pioneer, now i'm an atheist doctor...".
she was with me a good 30 mins, her elder husband left very annoyed but she stayed, and she was dying to hear everything i spurted out, despite aggressively defending every point, from military engines to paedophilia.

snare-Very well done! She is definitely going to be thinking about what you said to her and how her position is untenable. I'm glad you were respectful, it was that much more powerful. Your use of scripture was excellent. I wish I was as good as you are at getting a point across... -

Looking Back In Retrospect To 1975...
by titch ingreetings, folks: so, it's been 40 years since 1975. and, if you were actively involved with the witnesses back then, the mindset of many was, that by early autumn of 1975, it would mark the anniversary of 6000 years of human existence.
and, the hope was then, that it would mark the start of the 1000-year of christ, from the heavenly realm.
but, looking back now, 40 years ago, in june of 1975, only 3 more months remained until early autumn.

The fall of Saigon. It marked the end of the Vietnam War. It was the largest helicopter evacuation in history. Including 'Operation Babylift'. My daughter and I toured the USS Midway in San Diego a year ago and there were pictures of this event.

What percentage of the population are gay?
by fulltimestudent induring the long debate on the question of gay marriage, there have been many competing answers to the question of, "how many people are gay?".
a very anti-gay christian minister in sydney, the reverend fred nile, (who is also a member of the state parliament) claims that the percentage is as low as 1%.. some university (u.of new south wales) research in sydney has suggested 5%, but the authors of the study cautioned that there was a problem in the fact that an unknown number of respondents would likely not admit to being gay.. there are other problems in asking the question.
for example, what does being gay mean?

sparrow-Just a question, with no malice or sarcasm intended, would you find it very interesting and touching if a hetro married couple had one member having sex with a member of the opposite sex or would you call it adultery? I saw the same documentary and wondered if the women would've stayed if the person their husband was attracted to was another woman.
fulltime-This is an interesting topic, I just searched for the same info yesterday. It must be on a lot of minds right now.

Tax-exempt Status of Churches and the Gay Marriage Decision
by lambsbottom init will be interesting to see what will happen with the "beloved" 501c3 tax exempt status which the churches hold so dearly onto.
the first-century christians met in homes.
they did not have exemption from taxes to the governments.

The JW's don't need to worry about the Gay Marriage issue. For them it is a non-issue. They merely need to require anyone who is being married in a KH to be a baptized witness. End of problem. It was already in the rule book that both parties need to be either baptized witnesses or a progressive bible study with both parties who wished to become baptized, but their living situation was at odds with JW teachings.

I showed this to Hubby last night. He watched it to the end, which surprised me. He had no objections to what was said. After it was over, he held my hand and said something to the effect of 'I asked my dad about why the Israelites were sent into Egypt in the first place'. This clip really, really made him THINK. Something he is uncomfortable with.
I was eager to have him watch this, as today is his RC. He was racing around getting ready, but at the same time, seemed reluctant to leave. When our 7 y.o. asked him to stay for breakfast, he did. He didn't leave home until about 11:00. making him late. I think that if he wouldn't of seen this clip, he would've been much more eager to leave and wouldn't have stayed when being asked by our child.

Life after JW
by bsand20 inhaven't been on this site since fall of last year.
i was very active in spreading awareness and getting information to help me cope with the fact that my mother cut off complete communication with me as of jan 2014, but i guess too much of a good thing was too much for me to handle.
i ended up getting panic/anxiety attacks.

bsand20-8 years ago I was pregnant and having panic attacks and was told 'no anxiety meds'. It was so bad, I asked them if they could take the baby early-no they could not-you will just have to deal with it they said. And so I did. The panic and anxiety attacks are very frightening. Has your therapist given you any coping strategies? Can your ob/gyn suggest anyone else that you can be referred to, such as a psychiatrist? You may need someone more that a therapist to get you through this stage. Try not to watch any kind of news, avoid places where JW's are, including this site if it is going to upset you. Try reading Jim Rohn, Darren Hardy, some of the other self-help gurus, they may help you get your emotions into check.
Hope this helps. May you have a healthy pregnancy.

When in Europe in 2001, I encounter 2 sisters street witnessing. One wore dress slacks, the other wore...JEANS! My Euro relative was upset that the one sister was in JEANS. The slacks were absolutely acceptable. Slacks were also worn to the KH, much to my surprise. -

If you had any doubts about the pitifully poor mental prowess of Watchtower and JWs in general ...
by Island Man inif you had any doubts about the pitifully poor mental prowess of watchtower and jws in general then i'm sure this week's watchtower study (week of june 15-21, 2015) completely obliterated such doubts.
the study article (watchtower april 15, 2015, page 19: how real is your relationship with jehovah?
) was filled with blatantly fallacious reasoning that were outdone only by the more fallacious reasoning on the part of commenting jws.. the article, in paragraph 2, says this about a relationship with jehovah:.

Your analogy was really good! My hubby insists on thanking Jah for our food. I asked him 'What about all the brothers and sisters who go hungry regularly. Shouldn't they be thanking God for NOT providing them their daily bread?" No response.
