It was an article in the Watchtower, study article, that made me realize how ridiculous it all was. Another comparison to 'faithful Job'. It dawned on me for the bazllionth time that I would've never felt God was blessing me. That out of love, god allowed my kids to all die, and for everything owned to be taken or destoyed. Soooo loving to allow the most faithful person on earth to go through that to satisfy the devil's curiosity. . And just why did god feel the need to accept a bet with the devil, anyway?

Did you AWAKEN from the JWs by yourself?
by cultBgone ini was thinking about how so many posters here on jwn are frustrated and frantic to help their loved ones get away from the brainwashing of jws, and how much advice is given about how to help family members and loved ones.
i considered my own leaving and that it was internal turmoil based on the teachings getting weirder and child abuse issues, to name just a few, and it made me wonder:.
did you self-awaken or were you assisted by the gentle proddings of a friend or family member?

Deut. 22:27- An engaged girl who being raped screamed. No one to help her. She is not to be put to death, but rapist is. Where is the 2nd witness? If there was a 2nd witness, they should have helped the girl. Her word against his. In this case, 2 witnesses ARE NOT required. Shouldn't that be the case where a child is molested and there is no one to witness it?
The borg needs to follow Deut 22:27 when a child is being molested and there is no one to help them. They should be believed, the offender should be promptly reported to the authorities and the victim and family given all the support they need. THAT would be scriptural.

so, what ARE society 'approved' jobs anyway?

A recent magazine (within the last several years) listed appropriate jobs that required little schooling. One of the jobs was 'hairdresser'. I have never lived in an area where a simple hairdresser made enough money to support themselves. It is a low paying job a best, for most people.
My hubby gets flack for being an on the road salesman. When he took the job, the elders told him Jehovah would provide, that if we lost our home, we wouldn't starve, Jehovah promises that....Yay! Just what I've always wanted, to live with other JW's in a spare bedroom with three kids. (Yes, that was a suggested option).

Matthew 24:19-21
by Pete Zahut inbut woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days!
and pray that your flight be not in the winter, neither on a sabbath for then shall be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever shall be.. this scripture was always used to frighten us about the upcoming great tribulaton.
when i was in high school my late mother found out she was pregnant with my youngest sister.

Your poor mother. What mean, spiteful, nasty sisters. I hated that scripture when I was pregnant with my first child, it seemed like it was always being referred to at meetings. Maybe it was a case of just being more attuned to it because of the pregnancy. Either way it is a cruel thing to bring up to pregnant women.

I am very sorry about the loss of your beloved poodle. The loss of a pet can be devastating, as anyone who has ever loved an animal knows.

Power stuff! If everyone here had just one IN JW listen to this, what would the affect be? In one part she mentions that the Borg knew of an instance of 40 children being molested by one pedo and they did nothing.

Woe to the Women of the Watchtower
by skeeter1 inthe trouble with women is that they have a breaking point.
it comes when their needs are not being met or they are not respected.
and, that is a beauty too.

skeeter-You make some valid points. For some weird reason women seem to flock to religions, this and others. Some make you wear white bonnets on your head and plain ugly dresses (Amish). Some women shave their heads and wear a wig so they don't have men lusting after them (some Orthodox Jews). Some women cover their entire bodies to become faceless, shapeless non-entities (some Muslims). Others don't ever cut their hair and wear no make-up (Pentecostals). Women endure extreme pain of childbirth needlessly and refuse to allow very ill children medical care (Christian Scientists). Some end up JW's who must appear happy at all costs, even if their child is sexually assaulted, their husbands spend more time shepherding the flock than seeing them and put in many hours trying to be good enough to buy their way into everlasting life.

"You have to find out her fears and exploit that. What is her worst fear?"
by cognac inliterally, a text message to my husband from one of his "friends".
he also wrote, "it's in her hands.
it's her move now.

cognac-I hope that you are all right, and your husband too. It would be wonderful if the mental health people would be able to help him and thereby help you. He is also dealing with something very difficult for him, his wife's defection from his value system. When I left the 'borg it shook my husband to the core. He did the same as your husband, he told my family and dearest friends. It felt like a betrayal and I was very hurt. Wishing you and your family the very, very best.

Over 1,000,000 in attendance and you are worried about tight pants?
by Separation of Powers inyou know, rarely in the history of the org has a group this large congregated to hear from "mother.
" they incessantly speak of the huge group that met at yankee stadium in 1958...the over 250,000 that congregated to be instructed by jehovah.
but over the weekend, there were over 1,000,000 people excited to hear some type of direction, some type of encouragement, something to help them hang on "just a little longer.".

OnTheWayOut-The video on the Congo men dressing with style was great! Loved the guy in a kilt. Can you imagine what the GB would say if the brothers all started wearing kilts in the USA? They definitely aren't tight pants!
