i have heard from my father (who is an elder about 50 years old) that there is a great seperating work going on within the org.
he said that almost all of the people my age 25 to 35 have quit going to our hall (about 20 people).
i have not been to a meeting in about 1 year.
according to my JW friend, there are about 40-45 people at the meetings at the KH...............down from nearly 100 when we were there 12 years ago.
Other congregations are merging, due to low attendance.
She also says there are very few young people staying with it.
for my mother who has alzheimers.
my husband and i made the decision over the weekend.
she is just getting weaker by the day, has no interest in food or liquid, and .
hospice is great.................I went through the hospice program with my cousin, who was dying of breast cancer, and then my father who also had Alzheimer's.
Dad only lived two days after they came to help................wish I had called them a lot sooner. It didn't occur to me until way late in his illness. I guess I didn't see it as life threatening, but he became harder and harder to handle, and in desperation I asked about hospice.........asked his doctor. It was a light bulb moment for all of us. I guess none of us had thought of it.
Highly recommend them.
So sorry though, that the end is near for your Mom.
there are many stories that make we wonder if anything akin to solid reasoning can prop up the bible's accounts of early life on earth.
but perhaps this scripture is a key:.
"these are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the lord god made the earth and the heavens, and every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the lord god had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
In answer to your question, the answer is a resounding yes, the Genesis account is just a myth.

i've gone to many a witness dinner where i would bring one or two nice wines, hoping we would have some with dinner.
{to numb the boring conversations} only, to find the couple say "thanks" put it in the cabnet....and serve up lemonade..... and it's not an alcohol thing....two different brothers brought out there own "home made" vino instead, which taste like a mixture of fruit punch and vineger!

I didn't read the other posts, but this is what I've been told is the proper etiquette for this situation.
The wine is a gift for the hostess. What she does with it is up to her.............she can serve it, or save it for another time.

Kory Tideman (pronounced TEED a mun), a very talented musician who played mandolin, and Kenner Dull, who played guitar. We had a lot of fun together. At the time, bluegrass was hot and we were heavily influenced by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's recently-released two-album set called "Will the Circle be Unbroken" One time we tried to learn to play that song ("Circle") by sitting back to back in a circle (four of us), with our arms sort crossed, each of us plucking one instrument with our right hand, and fingering another instrument with our left hand. For example, I would sit with Jim on my left and Kory on my right, and Kenner behind me. I would hold my banjo to my left and pick it while Jim fingered it. Meanwhile, Kory would hold his mandolin to his left and pick it with his right hand, while I fingered it with my left. It was crazy and we never had enough time to get it down well enough to perform in public, but we had a lot of laughs practicing it.
Kory is one of our closest friends...............still plays guitar and mandolin.............by the way, he mastered that song.
i keep hearing this from the dubs at work.
have heard complaints about being in bigger congregations.
all i can think at those moments is... "do they even realize they are complaining about "jehovah's" arrangements"?
In the Seattle area, I know of 4 congregations that were merged into 2 because they were tooooo small.
Where was that?
North Park and Ballard merged, and South Everett and Silver Lake merged. There are probably more. I think North and South Lynnwood are going to merge too. (rumor)

actually the long ones were Sunday through Sunday....................8 days. I've been to several of those, 2 in New York (1953 and 1958), Vancouver (1969 and 1973 I think). I think one in Pasadena was 8 days also, 1963............didn't attend as I was hugely pregnant.

I used to use a mangle. Absolutely loved it. I could iron a man's shirt in a few short minutes. Had to get rid of it when we downsized our home. It's the size of a washing machine, and I simply didn't have room for it anymore.
