I looked at those documents and they don't look authentic. I was excited because I could print them and leave them at my mother's house to read, because she and her former Gileadite husband, have always said that situation was impossible, and I was lying. There is no letterhead, words are misspelled, and there are numerous typos. Where did you get this, and why would a person believe it is the real thing. You could have typed it, and posted it.

Noah drama from a while ago
by betweenworlds indoes anyone else out there remember a drama from quite a few years ago that portrayed noah trying to preach to people about the flood, and he had a friend that wasn't doing all that he should in helping noah, and at the end of the drama the friend gets locked out of the ark and drowned???
i remember at the time, sitting there and thinking...what in the holy hell is this crap?
now they are making people up??

Even so! I had forgotten that line. It made us laugh too. We were in two dramas over the years. My husband was Joshua in the drama about Rahab, and I was an Israelite woman, a body on the stage. No lines. Then we were in one in 1995, about helping the elderly in your congregations. My husband even got in the Watchtower for that one........January 1996 I think. It was great fun. The last one we kind of got roped into, and we were "on our way out" of the Borg, but our teenage son was asked to be in it, and wanted to very much, so we took him for the big drama meeting, and we were given parts too. It would have looked weird if we had turned them down. At least that drama was beneficial.

All I can say is "you are not alone". I think when the organization of JW's failed us, so did God. For me the Borg was GOD!! When it died, in my heart, so did God. I am finally finding him again, but it has been a six year struggle. In the beginning I lost 54 pounds, and I felt it was from letting go of guilt. Now I am gaining weight, and I have no explanation. I just want it to STOP!!! I am a stress eater, so that might explain it.

Dreams: Portals to the Afterlife?
by Mulan innow this is a neat subject!!
i am a genealogy freak, and have researched my family back to the middle ages and beyond, on both sides.
i so much want to know about them, and what they looked like, and how they lived, that i have dreamed it.

I have always had really vivid dreams, and remember them. I can't always see the faces in my memories of dreams, but I remember lots of details from my dreams. So, I have been interested in interpreting my dreams. One dream I had ALL the time while I was a pioneer, and JW, of course, is that I was naked in a room full of people, formally dressed. I picked up a little book at the grocery store, checkout line on dreams, and found that this particular dream means that I was afraid of being exposed out as a fraud!! That freaked me out! I sure didn't think I was a fraud, but it planted a little seed that I couldn't get rid of. Did I really love pioneering as I always said I did, or was I really a fraud? That absolutely was the case. Another dream was of falling, and falling and falling. That means fear of failure. Another more unusual one was that I was a hairdresser and was always being asked to do hairdos and haircuts that I didn't feel I could do. But, I would do them, and they turned out beautifully. I would protest that I wasn't really trained for this, and it was all an accident that it was working. But somehow I was able to do this anyway. That one I don't know what it means. Anyone?

Cool Scorpion. Same author, different book. I recommend "The Road Less Travelled". It was an eye opener for me. I read it before I read Crisis of Conscience, but it had a similar effect on me.

Fornication......*blushing*
by d0rkyd00d inas many may know, i'm still a teenager.
i'm not willing to reveal my age, which is one less than 17 or one more than 15. but i just wanted to get your guys' opinion on sex before marriage.
a lot of people here have kinda lost their "watchtower" and biblical standards as i have gathered.

Your instincts are right. You aren't ready. I think 16 is toooooo young for sex. The body is ready, but your emotions are NOT. While I doubt if I would ever marry anyone I hadn't had sex with, I am not in that situation, having been happily married for a long time. Until you are of an age to marry, and have found that special person, don't do it.

Homosexuals and Evolution
by patio34 inon monday past, the la times health section had an article on homosexuality, especially the traits visible in young toddlers.
it also delved into possible causes of homosexuality and the latest research and theories.. there was an interesting comment in the article something like "it's a peculiarity in evolution that homosexuality occurs because it precludes procreation.
" in evolution, whoever produces the most offspring are the ones who pass on their genes.

You may have hit on something there, Jim. I personally think many of those old guys at Bethel are gay men, in denial.

Marrying "Only in the Lord"
by TMS inthe wt definition of "only in the lord" meaning only dedicated witnesses of jehovah in good standing greatly narrows the field of eligible mates.
this has brought about some unusual unions because of the circumstances, involving people who would ordinarily not meet, let alone marry, if it were not for a shared belief system.. what unusual couplings have you seen in your jw days?
how large was your personal field of possibilities and did it include some unusual options?

I met my husband at a party, the JW kids had a few times a year. He was pioneering, so a great catch, right? I was a junior in high school and he was 19. We talked and talked for hours the first time we met. We spent an entire Circuit assembly together, talking again. We dated for a few months and got married in late December, during Christmas vacation of my senior year. I went back to school after the break. It was 1963 by then (January) and the Vietnam war was just starting up. Several other girls in my school were married to servicemen over in Vietnam, so it wasn't unusual to be a married student. I stayed in school for awhile, but finally dropped out because I wanted to have a baby. I did finish and got my diploma, but not attending the school. Now, it is 38 1/2 years later, and we are still together, and we still talk ALL THE TIME. That was the key for us. We immediately bonded intellectually. He is very intelligent, an amazing teacher (taught the TM school for about 15 years) and then was the WT conductor. He owns a business with our eldest son, who was 37 last November. We have four children, all out of the Borg, and 7 grandkids. If we hadn't been dubs, I would never have met him, but would probably have gone to college too. Who knows what might have been, but I'm glad I made the choice I did 38 1/2 years ago. I got a winner!!

Yep. He looks good. I was pretty shocked at his age, since I thought he was maybe 35. Some people just age well. As to future conferences, I just don't know. Maybe. This one was pretty boring, and if it hadn't been for Alan, and Venice's family, and Bill Bowen and his associates, it would have been hopeless. Since all of them were there, it was just great, and we had a wonderful time.
