LovesDubs is right. Don't volunteer anything. What evidence does your son have? There has to be two witnesses. Deny, deny, deny.

Hi Ashley, This board may not be what you think it is. But, stick around, and you are sure to learn things you would never learn at the Kingdom Hall. I would give anything to know what I know now, when I was 17. Welcome sweetheart!!

We know him well. Very sweet man. Alan is right. He does not want publicity, and keeps a low profile. He has a large circle of friends who are very loyal to him. He traveled over an hour by bus, twice last week, to visit my cousin who was in the hospital, because of a setback in her cancer. He told us on the phone that we all need to stick together in times like this because we have no "church". He has offered to conduct a service for her when she dies, inevitably. We talk to him several times a month, and he is happy and has a good job, owns his home, and is in contact with many like all of us, and enjoys helping new 'outcasts' through the grieving process, so to speak.

they get along great......now!!
all of us are ex dubs, (not mom) and brother dear is df'd, but only for 23 years, ha hahahaha.

Todd. Definitely not offended. I appreciate the advice, and it does correct me, and bring me back to a rational viewpoint. The only one on this board who has ever offended me is Fred Hall. Thanks again.

Thanks Jeff. You are right. I don't want any regrets, so I try to be respectful. I only wish she would respect me. My father lives with us now, and we have a good relationship. I have to say, that he was always there for us, and still is. The one regret we both have (my brother and myself) is that he didn't correct her bad, selfish, behaviour years ago. He regrets it too, but said she was too difficult to handle. When Mom and her husband lived in Oregon for two years, in the early 90's, it was the most peaceful time of my adult life.

Well, you sure have a right to your opinion. All I can say is, that she is not your mother, and you can't imagine what it's like. It seems that religion is only allowed to be talked about, if she is doing the talking. Then we are supposed to listen to her, but it doesn't go the other way. She is offended if we tell her we don't want to hear it. It sounds like your mother is a totally different person. I am jealous of that. My mother has always been a problem for my brother and me, and a constant source of embarrassment.

My mother won't be at the wedding of my youngest son, next month, nor was she at my second son's wedding four years ago. She didn't even come to my eldest son's wedding in 1989. She was at my daughter's wedding in 1988, but made me wish for hours, that she had had the good sense to stay home. People like that have to be the center of attention, or they just aren't comfortable. If they aren't at the center, they put themselves there, by making a scene, or some other foolishness. So, don't think that just because I have a mother, that she is there for me, or for her grandchildren. It all depends on whether she FEELS like it.
By the way, the reason she is absent from weddings now, is because they are in churches. She wasn't at my eldest son's KH wedding because they lived in another state at that time, and didn't want to drive for 10 hours to get here, so they left home the day before the wedding and didn't actually get into town until the day after. Why they bothered, I have no idea.
She didn't go to any of my kid's baptisms, nor high school graduations, my baby showers or anything else that mattered to me or to them. They lived in the same town then too, as they do now. When I had my third child, 31 years ago, I wanted her to be with me, but she had a new love, after being divorced from my father, and didn't want to miss any sleep. I know that sounds really petty, and it was. At that time, she was about the age I am now. I can't conceive of that, not being there for my kids. At least she taught me how to be a mother.........or not.

Blood, The Watchtower and Deceit
by Maximus inwhile much attention is given to doctrine in sites such as this, very little is noted about the watchtower societys intellectual dishonesty in its publications, especially when it comes to quotations.. oftentimes the societys writers will cite a scholar or author of some repute: "professor blank observes that blah, blah, blah.
" the reader assumes from the quotation that professor blank is in agreement with the organizations position, of course, and that the quotation chosen accurately depicts the authors thoughts.. heres the catch: the words between the quotation marks may be accurate, but the snippet may not at all faithfully represent someones actual thesis or position.
much like a newspaper ad for a movie that quotes a reviewer as saying "monumental!

Maximus, your picture looks a lot like costumes I made for dramas years ago. I was a good seamstress and made many of them. At the time it was really fun. Your posts are awesome. Keep them coming.
When you were a DO, did you ever serve on the West Coast? Just wondering. -

AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
by JW72 inhi special fried chipmonks.. can anyone help me try and prove to my dad that just because jw's teach a lot of good and do get a lot of things right(mainly common sense, i might add) that this does not mean that you can ignore the things they have got wrong, the kind of things that could prove that they are not who they say or think they are!!.
he is great at reasoning the existence of god but when it comes to defending jdubs he is blinkered.. i try to tell him that 'isn't it a coinsidence that you were born into the 'truth', or is it that every child thinks that it's parents are right!!'..
also he says that you shouldn't spend so much time trying to prove it's correctness but put faith in it.

Chris, Do you have a "Mankind's Search for God" book? Page 8, paragraph 12 and Page 22, paragraph 8. That is out of their own book, and should give him a message, or at least something to think about. They expect people of other religions to do it, but why not themselves? These paragraphs are favorites of ours.

Man, that is too, too much isn't it? Barf bags is right!! I will post one that was written as a term paper in high school by one of the dubs here. I only have the first paragraph. At the time, I thought it was so neat:
----I was lying still, trying to understand what had happened. I remembered the car slipping on the ice, and going out of control, and the blinding crash, bright lights, and broken glass everywhere. There had been terrible pain too. Now, I didn't feel any pain. I slowly opened my eyes, and couldn't imagine why I was in this beautiful park. I sat up, and realized I was not bleeding and felt so well, and so full of happiness. I saw small groups of people around in the park, and suddenly my joy turned to terror as a lion came running out of the woods at me. He jumped at me and started to play with me. I didn't understand this development at all. Then a young girl came over to me with a clipboard in her hand, and chastised the lion, shooing him away, and said "you will have to forgive Leo, as he is always very playful at this time of day." Now, what is your name? As I gave it to her, I began to realize what had happened. Now she was saying, "oh yes, you are number 5,021, and your parents are already here, waiting for you." If you feel like walking now, I will take you to them.
The story goes on for another two or three pages. The subject was "What the World Will be Like in the Year 1975". Gag, barf, puke!!
