  Richard Scarry's Best Field Service Story--EVER

  ok so pardon me for the take off on richard scarry--he really is one of my favorite all time children's authors.. but i had to share this field service story with you--it's the gospel truth!

  hopefully, you can add some of yours.. while pioneering in upstate ny, my sister and i had frequent occasions to work in service with a married pioneer couple.

  yes, they were window washers, but that's not the real story here.. they had a return visit on an elderly gentleman who was kind enough to take the magazines every once in a while.

  I went on a Bible study with a friend of mine, who had laryngitis, so I had to conduct. The gal offered us some tea, and I didn't want to be rude, but the house was a PIT, very dirty. So we said okay, but I followed her to the kitchen to help. She boiled the water, and when ready to make the tea, she took dirty cups out of the sink, where they were sitting for who knows how long, and rinsed them, and poured the tea. It had floaters. I pretended to drink it. GROSSS!

  But, it gets worse. Later, I had to use the bathroom. That was a mistake, but I had to go. When I sat down, the toilet tipped against the bathtub. It wasn't even fastened down. It was just rotting.

  That woman progressed in her study, and became a dub too.

  Show me the money!

  my wife and i have at different times and different assemblies worked in accounting.

  we noticed a pattern of manipulation of figures to move the brothers to contribute more thinking that the assembly was short the needed cash to take care of expenses even when there was plenty of money!.

  has anyone else out there ever worked in the 'money room' also, and if so, what did you observe?.

  What I never understood is this: Our circuit OWNED the Assembly Hall. It was paid for. So, why did it cost so much to use the building? What were we paying for? This is after the food service was discontinued. I just couldn't figure it out, and no one ever had an answer for me, except that I shouldn't ask that. I was a WOMAN, for crying out loud!!!

  How do the anointed know they are?

  i have a question that no elder has given me a good explanation on.

  how do the anointed jehovah's witnesses become that way.

  i heard that somehow their spirit is born along with the holy spirit.

  I didn't mean that as an attack. Don't misunderstand. It's just not a difficult concept. To answer your question: You can be. They are wrong to think they are an isolated little group, specially chosen, while others are left out.

  Remember what I quoted in my first post? "One Hope, one Faith, one Baptism." (there is ONE hope)

  i'll start.....i live in connecticut, usa.. if god dropped acid, would he see people?

  Hey Redhorsewoman, I have typed that town a zillion times, in my genealogy stuff. Many, many, many of my ancestors are from there, or settled there, I should say. And, I don't know how to pronounce it either.

  Wow. Bill, that is so great. My daughter's mother in law emailed her today that she doesn't believe any of this stuff. This will be so great to show her. She is inactive, but still thinks they "have the truth" and are "good men".

  Got Busted By Wife?She Said She Want Tell.(update)

  i recently picked up the nasty habit of smoking.

  i have been hiding it from my wife for about a month now,(she is still a witness) to make a long story short i only smoke when i drink and go to the casino.

  in lake charles well she busted me and was actually nice about it and said it would be our secret as long as i did not bring them in the house are ever smoke around the kids.. sounds like she might be comming around maybe, i only hope.. anyway i had to tell someone.

  All I can say is "GOOD GRIEF", people. I don't smoke, and don't like to be around it, but it isn't the end of the world. There are worse things to get upset about. We are free of rules, remember? Let it go, and leave him alone.

  Going on Holidays!

  Have a great trip. I wish we in the U.S. could pop over to another country, like you can. Well, there IS Canada, but "it isn't a real country anyway."

  i just went down to queen's unversity here in kingston, ontario canada.

  i am doing some research that i hope maximus, marvin and waiting will find interesting.. on the way out i got stopped by a lady who called herself "lilly".

  she had a young man with her who had down sydrome.

  I have seen many Down Syndrome people at JW events, and have a nephew with this problem. I doubt they have the capability to learn the JW doctrine. We studied with one couple who had a DS baby while studying, and later were baptized. She is 16 now, or 17. They are still dubs, but although she is very smart for a DS person, she doesn't understand the doctrines, and just goes along. I am sure most DS attenders were born there, or come with their parents.

  Don't feel too sorry for Down Syndrome kids. When this girl was 13, she had a life threatening issue come up, during a District convention, and the hospital wanted to transfuse her. The liason committee said to let them do it, since they would get a court order and do it anyway, and they didn't want the 'flack' with that hospital. So they did transfuse her. She would have died, as she was in congestive heart failure, and white as white can be. Very few red blood cells. It's amazing she is still alive.
