im such a procrastinator that at this rate ill be buying gifts on xmas eve :( but i love xmas so its worth it!

I finally finished on Monday. I did most of it online because of broken foot, but a little in store too.
Still waiting for two of them to arrive so I can mail them. With all the snow we're getting, I'm wondering if I will get out to the post office anytime soon anyway.

even when i was an active jw i had a soft spot for certain xmas music.
the standards, the jazzy ones, the rocknroll ones.. while i like a lot of different ones...i even collected my favs onto a playlist that i keep for this time of year...there are a few that really stand out as my favs.
I have no religious reasons for this, but I love "O Holy Night"
Years ago, while still a JW, I was working serving and cleaning up, for a large Christmas party at the home of some rich people I cleaned for. They had a string combo playing for their guests, and one of the guests got up and sang that song...........he had a fantastic operatic voice. I was in the pantry making up dessert platters, but the song brought tears to my eyes, it was so beautiful. Now I have many versions that I play all the time.
My favorite is the one by Il Divo. Josh Groban does a great job too.

We've had some major health problems in the family this year and my time is limited. I am recovering from a broken foot bone, so don't get around very easily. There are other very serious issues with one of my daughters in law and my mind is elsewhere during the season this year.

i am, for now a witness on the outside, and still believe in god most of the time.
i have read dawkins "the god delusion", found it pretty interesting and helped me understand why athiests believe the way they do.
but i always have questions.....one that really bothers me about deism is the thought that god has always existed and always will, had no beginning and no end.
My brother summed it all up a few years ago, when I asked him how everything got here, if there is no god. He said "it just is". Sounded logical to me.
You are right...........there had to be a willingness to believe. It can't be proven.
I find no problem in not knowing. It doesn't change a thing for me.
Another really good book is "God is Not Great" by Christopher Hitchens. Very logical and reasoning.
well let's face it they make a fuss about panty hose, skirts, i was even counselled for sitting with my knees apart.. why should old women be allowed to wear men's (lesbian) short hair and beards too?.

I don't know why they don't just shave it off. It's not that big a deal........men do it all the time.
I heard a Japanese woman on TV years ago, saying that their secret to beautiful skin is they shave. Why not...........sure makes it smooth.
I saw a woman at the grocery store with significant hair on her upper lip and chin.............I wondered "why don't you do something?" It's not going away.

Thank you so much.............I believe it did take a lot of hairspray, by the way. Funny, I always thought I was pretty average looking, although I was one of the popular girls. Looking back, I realize I was pretty. Wish I had felt that way back then, but maybe I wouldn't have been as nice. Hahaha. I always thought my girlfriends were the pretty ones.

i recently saw the katherine hepburn version a few days ago and it was ok, but this one is really wonderful, with great music.
I like Christmas in Connecticut, the old one, with Barbara Stanwyck.
A Christmas Story is also a favorite of ours. Just love that lamp!
as i sit here addressing my xmas cards for this year and think of all the people who have helped me on my jouney this past 7 years and especially the past 3, i thought i would post a thread letting people who knew me know how i am and what i have been up to this past year.. .
it will soon be 2 years since i moved from florida to atlanta, ga. even though it was going back to full time work, i love my job and am glad i have one.. .
i acknowledge that my therapy has helped me to get my mind untangled from being raised in a high control group and from being married to an alcoholic.
