watchtowerism, fascism, philosophy and blind obedience.
no one is better in describing themselves than the watchtower society.
usually this is done by accident when describing others.

i just wanted those kind-hearted, those gentle, those friendly ones of you to know that i wrote my letter of resignation as an elder yesterday, after having served in that capasity for 24 years.. those wishing to call me or any society "bastard", "sucker", "braindead" or anything, as they have before, i would ask please to refrain from that.
other comments would be welcome.. somehow, it is the armstrong quote about "one small step for man, one giant leap for humankind" (approximately) the other way around, "one giant leap for (a) man, one hardly noticeable step for humankind".. ok, that was that.
All the best to you. I know it is hard to let go of something that has been part of you for so long. But it's never to late to take the first step toward self-fulfillment and choices that are appropriate for yourself.

check out the form for disfellowshipping and disassociation, u.k. style.
disfellowship your neighbor, boss or whatever by filling out the form!.
net soup.
It's interesting that the form asks if there had been "sufficient evidence." I wonder what the rules of evidence are? It also asks if there was a "confession." I would like to see definitions of these and other terms used on the form, as I have heard of two different cases of 13-year-old girls being disfellowshipped after "confessing" to having been raped. One of the cases is on disfellowshipped.com; and the other was by e-mail.
It also struck me that, in the appeals portion, there is only one place to check "yes" or "no" as to whether the appeals committee agrees with the DF or DA. Then there are THREE signature lines. What's the use of having a committee of three, when only one response will be accepted? I just hate robot justice.

my son (who's 15) came home from the meeting last night (he thinks he wants to be a witness, but that's in another thread) and said that his grandmother (my mother-in-law) told him my reason for not going to meetings (the un thing, also discussed in another thread).
he told me that i need to talk to the po about it as he had heard about it a while back and has some information.. hmmmm, me thinks the mom-in-law has been talking to the po about what i told her last week.
i'm sure that i will be getting a shepherding call (a drop-by, unscheduled visit) by him this weekend.
I am not really good at confrontation either. However, you might be out when they arrive. Have your husband answer the door and tell them you're out, ill, or whatever it takes to get rid of them. Delay is good for starters, although it can't work forever.
Otherwise, just tell them that you do not wish to receive visits from them. If they persist and harass you, get a restraining order.
Trying to present them with facts is probably a waste of time, as they are not interested in what happened and the "reasons" given. Just let them do most of the talking (if you choose to let them in).

this is my living room at x-mas.
i bought this house and the one next door in 1975 for $12,000 for both.
i was working second shift and spent several weeks during the day making improvements.
Are those hardwood floors? I love them! Love the fireplace, too. It looks very inviting.

also stories about brothers visiting "massage parlours".
is any of this true, is there proof and personal accounts?.
I hear that there is lots of homosexual activity in prisons.

just learned that a group of jws hacked my email over a considerable period of time, hoping to intercept "incriminating" information in an attempt to disfellowship me!.
they printed up the emails and passed them out to other elders to "examine".
they were certainly very, very disappointed to not find anything they could "use".. the only outgoing emails from me they obtained were those attached to incoming mail as a result of some friends hitting "respond" when they wrote back to me.. the person who got into my email account is a ministerial servant who had previously worked on my business web site and therefore had my password.. he would download my email onto his computer, miles away, and then put everything back as "unread" so nothing would be "missing", when i accessed email from my computer.
I second AlanF's suggestion.

have anyone been harassed by jw?
the reason why i'm asking this question is because my wife and i have been!!!
will develop later.
After I separated from my JW husband, I was telephoned by elders and visited by my ex several times a week, usually being interrupted at work, asking me about "adultery." My ex didn't mind that I left, just as long as he would be "free to remarry." I guess any woman would do as long as she was a JW.
Anyway, I finally caved in and went to a meeting at the home of one of the elders. They were mostly pretty vicious. Their only agenda was to accuse me of some kind of wrongdoing, preferably adultery. One of the interrogators was decent, and I will never forget him for that. The elder who acted the most judgmental was a man who had been brought up as a JW, then joined the military, then went back to the JW's, then married a "worldly" woman (she converted).
As it turns out, I'm glad I went to that meeting over 20 years ago. After it was over, I was free. I no longer had any delusions about the "truth" or the men who represented it. I was so happy when I left! The weight of the world was lifted off of me. I just get happier and happier every year.
My ex continued to harass me, but had to stop once my daughter reached the age of majority. He's a pathetic, miserable person. BTW, he never remarried. I did.

out of the many things from the bible i wonder about there was one i thought i would share with you all and see if you may have any interesting insights on this issue.. according to the bible man was suppose to live forever, no sickness, easy childbirth for women, just your basic paradise, right?.
so ok, we all know that because that wretched eve screwed it up for all of us and everything we now have suffering and death.. my problem with all of this is this: what if all the people who had ever lived had never died?
how many of us would there be on the planet?
Hmmm,
I remember a public talk from many years ago about how each person could have a half acre and so on. Since I had no critical thinking skills at the time, it did not occur to me that humans are not the only species to occupy this planet. Where would wild animals roam? How could we survive on a planet without the rainforest and plenty of plant life to sustain the environment? I'm sure there are many other obstacles as well to dividing the earth among humans and forgetting every other living thing except, perhaps, fish.
