  Oh, yes. Last year at work, our office had a Bates Motel Theme. One of my co-workers even brought in a small TV set and the video of Psycho.

  I am now retired, but my former co-workers invited me to participate in their Hallowe'en festivities this year, too. They are going to be escaped prisoners, specific ones from history. Who would be a famous female escapee that I could dress up as?

  There was a pioneer sister in one of the congregations I was in who would work rural territory. She would stop at a return visit close by first, as she said, "to get [her] time started."

  Did anyone deduct from their report time out for coffee and donuts?

  Japan closes 638 Congregations!!!!! Why???

  japan since the 1970''s has had amazing publisher increases!

  every year the number of witnesses shot up by many thousands.

  this peaked in 1998, since then the number of witnesses and congregations has continued to drop!.

  The Japanese are a very intelligent people with a high tech society. They value politeness, but maybe they're not as compliant as in the past.

  There were no shepherding calls. I got the h*** out of Dodge.

  There were harassment calls and hate mail. I am grateful for these because they gave me incentive to move on toward the lightness of freedom.

  How to fluster a JW at your door

  my dad put up with a lot of crap from the jw's when my mom divorced him and took us kids away.

  so when he got the chance he would mess with them at the door.

  my favorite question he asked 2 sisters when they came.. "if the bible says a wife is to give her husband his due, then do you have relations with your husband because you love him or because the bible says to?".

  On a local TV call-in show I saw, a caller said to take a crucifix to the door.

  My ex-JW friend's husband would say he was "possessed by the devil."

  My daughter answered our door once, and when the JW lady began her presentation, said, "I've already been a Jehovah's witness." Strangely, the lady came back to see us about a week later. She was alone and seemed curious about why we left. Maybe we should have talked with her, but we were on our way out to do some shopping or something.

  I like what Walt Whitman had to say:

  CAN A HUMAN-ANIMAL HYBRID BECOME A JW?

  Such a creature sounds like an ideal JW in many ways - lower IQ and not quite fitting in with either the animal or human species.

  Of course, the "perfect" JW would be a robot, programmed to download only what the GB wanted it to know.

  What would you do?

  barbie doll's grandson called yesterday saying the his fiancee, wants to meet us.

  his hasn't willingly visited us for more than 10 years.

  the last few times we saw him, was when we stopped his work, every time we invited to come and visit us and he never has.

  It sounds like Barbie's decision if they are her kin. If it were me, I would want to see my grandchild, but I may not wish to give him money. But each of us has our own priorities.
