Friends are studying with the JW's
by LouBelle ini was studying spanish a little while ago - had to stop because of finances but became friends with the spanish teacher and we keep in touch, see each other now and again.
i just got a message from him:.
"hola louise, i would like to talk to you about 2 things, about the jws, as we are following this fatih, we find it interesting, we haven't been baptised yet, i want to make sure before making a mistake and the other thing that allan and i wold like to talk about is starting your own business.....".

Be sure to inform them that they will be required not to speak to you. Having ex-JW's in their Spanish classes could be very awkward if they want to stay in "good" standing with the WTS and its henchmen. I don't know if there is a female among their number, but be sure to advise her/them of the status of women in the borg.
Have them read The Orwellian World of Jehovahs' Witnesses to get an idea of what life in a cult really boils down to.

My Left Leg Was Amputated
by TOTH ini have been out of commission for several weeks.
back around the first of the year i developed an infection in my left foot.
due to diabetes and poor circulation the doctors were unable to save my foot and so i received a below the knee amputation.
-
Mum
Great advances have been made in prosthetics, so you'll likely be back on your feet soon.
My mother was a double amputee (both below-knee). She had a great team of therapists and was learning to walk again with prosthetic legs when she died.
Best wishes!

One baptism...
by NeverKnew ini just realized, i have to explain the joke so you guys will get it.
in some churches, communion is open to anyone who has been baptised regardless of denomination or church affiliation at baptism.
so, even though one may be confirmed or baptised at one church, it can be acceptable to go to another church and receive communion.

Hmmm . . . I haven't been to the "Memorial" in more years than I can count.
I hope this is not off-topic, but I joined the Episcopal Church in 1984. At that time, only baptized Christians (not necessarily Episcopalians) were supposed to take communion. I missed church for several years and recently started attending again. Everyone was invited to take communion, as the priest said, "It is the Lord's table, and all are welcome." My Buddhist friend took communion along with everyone else.

DA'd vs. DF'd
by Suraj Khan insunday's wt study really opened some old wounds in my family.
by age 13 i was faking illnesses just to get out of thursday and sunday meetings.
i stopped attending altogether at age 17 and headed to college, never really looking back.

It sounds like they're afraid. You had the presence of mind not to fall for their crap, so they're afraid you might come around and convince your family of what a pack of lies they believe.
You don't hae to obey them, of course, because you never chose to be a part of their corporation. No need to stress yourself. You're free.

I Didn't See That Coming
by Wholly ini was raised on air force bases in the us and asia until i was 10 or 11. my mother divorced my father while he was on an unaccompanied tour in turkey and hooked up with my uncle.
she married him and his children became our step-brothers and sisters.
i saw my father once when he got back to the states and not again until almost 30 years later.. after two years, my uncle put his children in an orphanage and my mother dispersed her children to the four winds so she could be free to be with my uncle without all the problems eight children who hated each other brought.. my story begins in 1977 in an old farm house in corinth, kentucky, without running water or heat, just electricity for lights and cooking.

I lived in primitive conditions in Tennessee and Kentucky when I was growing up as well. That was nothing compared to what the people in your life have done to you!
My hat's off to you for your ability to survive in impossible conditions. I hope you can get some help so you can get an education and better yourself and your prospects. It sounds like your daughter could benefit from therapy as well.
I was a JW for about 17 years, and, in the long run, it hindered me more than it helped. You are wise to see through them so quickly.
Wishing you the best,

JC was formed, without even letting me know!?
by magotan inno one will take my intent to da or df seriously.
they called me again (three brothers this time) and asked me to meet with them.
i had no intention of doing so....simply told them there was nothing to talk about.. .

You do not owe them an explanation. The only power they have over you is the power that you give them. You're doing great. There is no need to feel guilty or to believe they "love" you in the true sense of the word. They are not allowed to have genuine love and concern; they are only allowed to obey their corporate masters in Brooklyn or Patterson, or wherever they are.
Welcome to freedom! Live it! Be what you want to be and who you really are. They can't stop you.
